The interaction of laser radiation with matter leads to the certain kinds of modelling of its surface or volume. These effects
have been demonstrated for a lot of materials, even causing the formation of new scientific and industrial domain, which is
undoubtedly laser material processing and as well as laser cleaning of artworks. Those applications lie in the so-called “low'
region of laser energy densities, represented for short laser pulses by power densities below 109 W/cm2. Paper presents set of equations describing in one-dimensional (1D) model phenomena accompanying to laser–matter interaction.
Target geometry includes two and four layers of different materials, irradiated by ns laser pulses. Effects of radiation absorption
and transport, heat conductivity, target transit to plastic state, melting and evaporation are taken into consideration. The
part of the paper is devoted to the discussion of numerical results, selected in such a way to illustrate the phenomenon of

In this paper results of the experimental investigations of a coaxial
microwave (2.45 GHz) microplasma source (MMS) with graphite or tungsten
inner conductor operated in Ar, N2 and Ar/C2H2 mixture at
atmospheric pressure are presented. The microwave power absorbed by the
microplasmas and the intensity of UV-C emission from the microplasmas were
measured. Using optical emission spectroscopy, the electron number density
in Ar microplasma, and rotational and vibrational temperatures in N2
and Ar/C2H2 microplasmas were determined. All experiments were
performed with a gas flow rate from 0.3 to 8 l/min and absorbed microwave
power from 5 to 300 W. The simplicity of the MMS, stability of its operation
with atmospheric pressure gases, and parameters of the microplasmas allow

Photoreflectance and photoluminescence measurements were performed on the ensemble of self assembled InAs/GaAs quantum dots designed to emit at 1.3 μm. As many as six QDs-related optical transitions were observed in PR spectra, the energies of which were confirmed by high-excitation PL results. Numerical calculations allowed estimating the average size of the dots, which is larger than for standard InAs/GaAs QDs. This result is in agreement with structural data. Additionally, the energy level structure for such QDs was derived and compared with the electronic structure of standard InAs/GaAs dots. It was shown that the energy level structure of such large dots qualifies them for the active region of a laser emitting at 1.3 μm. 相似文献
