In our laboratories we are exploring the possibility of using proteome expression profiles of fresh bladder tumors (transitional cell carcinomas, TCCs; squamous cell carcinomas, SCCs) and random biopsies as fingerprints to subclassify histopathological types and as a starting point to search for protein markers that may form the basis for diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. Ultimately, the goal of these studies is to identify signaling pathways and components that are affected at various stages of bladder cancer progression and that may provide novel leads in drug discovery. Here we present our ongoing efforts to establish comprehensive two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (2-D PAGE) databases of TCCs and SCCs which are being constructed based on the proteomic and immunohistochemical analysis of hundreds of fresh tumors, random biopsies and cystectomies received shortly after operation (http://biobase.dk/cgi-bin/celis). 相似文献

Evolution of the vortices of monopole and dipole types in a viscous fluid is considered numerically. Theory and numerical results are compared for some particular exact solutions. A good agreement is obtained for the dipole vortices (viscous Chaplygin-Lamb vortices) moving with variable velocities due to viscosity. For the monopole type vortices, the agreement is more or less good only at an initial stage of their evolution; while in the long-lime asymptotics the law of vorticity decay other than the theoretical one is discovered. The reason for such a discrepancy is discussed. The interactions of dipole vortices with each other and with rigid boundaries are studied too. In an extended relativistic fluid droplet, it is possible to define new internal variables which correspond to the classical counterpart of spin. If we introduce a new constraint, different from Weysenhoff's, we obtain by quantisation the Feynman-Gell-Mann wave equation. The compatibilization and impact modification of blends of a relatively new engineering plastic polyamide 4.6 (PA 4.6) and a poly(aryl ether sulfone) (PSU) are investigated. PSU-b-PA6 block copolymers, which can be easily synthesized by ring opening polymerization of ϵ-caprolactam in the presence of a commercial PSU, were found to be very efficient emulsifiers for these incompatible blends. Small amounts (1–4%) of copolymer are sufficient to significantly reduce the particle size and to improve the tensile and impact properties. Combinations of the copolymer and an impact modifier (ethylene-propylene rubber grafted with maleic anhydride) are synergistic and high impact PSU/PA 4.6 alloys are obtained in that way. 相似文献

The living low temperature polymerization in polar solvents of most methacrylates, even functional ones, can now be performed by direct and experimentally convenient anionic methods, thanks to the use of α-methylstyrene and of complex-purified monomers. A diversified family of block copolymers has thus been generated, that are used as compatibilizing agents in the designing of interesting heterophase materials: i.e. blends of polymers and inorganic fillers, and liquid-solid dispersions. The living polymerization of acrylates (or of methacrylates under more drastic conditions) raises additional requirements: they have been met to a large extent by the use of specific ligands of the growing ion-pair. Resulting structures such as f.i. block copolymers and end-functionalized oligomers of a low dispersity, should have a great interest in the molecular engineering of (meth)acrylate-based products. Finally, these new initiators lend themselves to structural and mechanistic studies which should shed some light on the critical features of these living propagation processes. 相似文献
