The fermion propagator in an arbitrary covariant gauge can be obtained from the Landau gauge result via a Landau–Khalatnikov–Fradkin
transformation. This transformation can be written in a practically useful form in both configuration and momentum space.
It is therefore possible to anticipate effects of a gauge transformation on the propagator’s analytic properties. These facts
enable one to establish that if a critical number of flavours for chiral symmetry restoration and deconfinement exists in
noncompact QED3, then its value is independent of the gauge parameter. This is explicated using simple forms for the fermion–photon
vertex and the photon vacuum polarisation. The illustration highlights pitfalls that must be avoided in order to arrive at
valid conclusions. Landau gauge is seen to be the covariant gauge in which the propagator avoids modification by a non-dynamical
gauge-dependent exponential factor, whose presence can obscure truly observable features of the theory. 相似文献

Channel geometry combined with surface chemistry enables a stable liquid boundary flow to be attained along the surfaces of a 12 microm diameter hydrophilic glass fiber in a closed semi-elliptical channel. Surface free energies and triangular corners formed by PDMS/glass fiber or OTS/glass fiber surfaces are shown to be responsible for the experimentally observed wetting phenomena and formation of liquid boundary layers that are 20-50 microm wide and 12 microm high. Viewing this stream through a 20 microm slit results in a virtual optical window with a 5 pL liquid volume suitable for cell counting and pathogen detection. The geometry that leads to the boundary layer is a closed channel that forms triangular corners where glass fiber and the OTS coated glass slide or PDMS touch. The contact angles and surfaces direct positioning of the fluid next to the fiber. Preferential wetting of corner regions initiates the boundary flow, while the elliptical cross-section of the channel stabilizes the microfluidic flow. The Young-Laplace equation, solved using fluid dynamic simulation software, shows contact angles that exceed 105 degrees will direct the aqueous fluid to a boundary layer next to a hydrophilic fiber with a contact angle of 5 degrees. We believe this is the first time that an explanation has been offered for the case of a boundary layer formation in a closed channel directed by a triangular geometry with two hydrophobic wetting edges adjacent to a hydrophilic surface. 相似文献

Global optimization of writing head is performed using micromagnetics and surrogate optimization. The shape of the pole tip is optimized for bit patterned, exchange spring recording media. The media characteristics define the effective write field and the threshold values for the head field that acts at islands in the adjacent track. Once the required head field characteristics are defined, the pole tip geometry is optimized in order to achieve a high gradient of the effective write field while keeping the write field at the adjacent track below a given value. We computed the write error rate and the adjacent track erasure for different maximum anisotropy in the multilayer, graded media. The results show a linear trade off between the error rate and the number of passes before erasure. For optimal head media combinations we found a bit error rate of 10−6 with 108 pass lines before erasure at 2.5 Tbit/in2. 相似文献

Montmorillonite KSF clay supported CuO nanoparticles efficiently catalyzes one-pot aromatic azidonation of aryl boronic acids followed by regioselective azide–alkyne 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition (CuAAC) reaction producing corresponding 1-aryl-1,2,3-triazole derivatives at room temperature in excellent yields without use of any additives. Investigations on mechanism of CuAAC revealed that sodium azide, which is used as azidonating reagent in one-pot protocol reduces Cu(II) to click-active Cu(I). The catalytic efficiency of another Cu(II) source CuSO4 in combination with NaN3 for this one-pot CuAAC protocol, further supported our mechanism. This is the first report for use of Cu(II)/NaN3 catalytic system for CuAAC protocol. The clay–Cu(II) catalyst being ligand-free, leaching-free, easy to synthesize from inexpensive commercially available precursors, recyclable, and environmentally friendly will be highly useful for economical synthesis of 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazoles. 相似文献

The chromatographic behaviour of alkaline earth metals on iminodiacetic acid bonded silica was studied. It was found that the ionic strength of the eluent greatly affected both retention time and selectivity by controlling the extent to which either simple ion exchange or surface complexation was responsible for retention. With a 0.1 M KNO3 eluent, the retention order was Mg(II), Sr(II), Ca(II) and Ba(II), indicating a strong contribution to retention from ion exchange. However, when using a 1.5 M KNO3 eluent, Ba(II) was found to elute first, indicating complexation to be more dominant under these conditions (pH 4.2). The effect of the ionic strength of the sample was also studied and it was found that by matching the eluent cation with that of the sample matrix, efficient separations of alkaline earth metals in 1.0 M NaCl and KCl brines could be obtained without matrix system peaks. Using post-column reaction with o-cresolphthalein complexone, trace levels of Ca(II) and Mg(II) were determined in medicinal NaCl saline solution and laboratory-grade KCl. 相似文献

An oxidative chemical vapor deposition (OCVD) process was used to coat flexible textile fiber (viscose) with highly conductive polymer, poly (3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) in presence of ferric (III) chloride (FeCl3) oxidant. OCVD is a solvent free process used to get uniform, thin, and highly conductive polymer layer on different substrates. In this paper, PEDOT coated viscose fibers, prepared under specific conditions, exhibited high conductivity 14.2 S/cm. The effects of polymerization conditions, such as polymerization time, oxidant concentration, dipping time of viscose fiber in oxidant solution, and drying time of oxidant treated viscose fiber, were carefully investigated. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and FT‐IR analysis revealed that polymerization of PEDOT on surface of viscose fiber has been taken place and structural analysis showed strong interactions between PEDOT and viscose fiber. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) was employed to investigate the amount of PEDOT in PEDOT coated viscose fiber and interaction of PEDOT with viscose fiber. The effect of PEDOT coating on the mechanical properties of the viscose fiber was evaluated by tensile strength testing of the coated fibers. The obtained PEDOT coated viscose fiber having high conductivity, could be used in smart clothing for medical and military applications, heat generation, and solar cell demonstrators. This article presents analytical solutions of the general rate model (GRM), the lumped kinetic model (LKM), and the simpler equilibrium dispersive model (EDM) for core-shell particles and linear adsorption isotherms. The solutions in the Laplace domain are applied to derive analytical expressions for the temporal moments of these models. The results provide relations between the model specific kinetic parameters by matching one or more of the temporal moments. Several case studies are considered for illustration. The results show that simpler models are in many cases as good as the most detailed GRM if their kinetic parameters fulfill the matching relations. Thus, it is possible to reliably predict elution profiles using the simpler models. The derived analytical expressions can also be utilized to efficiently estimate model parameters from experimentally observed elution profiles to further optimize core-shell particles and to identify suitable column sizes and operating conditions. 相似文献

The peak intensities obtained when 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid (DHB) was used as a 'classic' matrix were measured using substance P (SP) and betacyclodextrin (BCD) as analytes. Enhancements in peak intensities were observed going from 1:1 MeOH/H2O to dimethylforamide (DMF) as matrix solvents. Also non-covalent interactions between SP and solvent and DHB were observed suggesting close interactions between matrix, solvent and analyte in the gas-phase. Peak enhancements were previously reported with 'superDHB' (DHB and 2-hydroxy-5-methoxybenzoic acid at 10% v/v). Co-addition of structural analogues and their respective absorption coefficients were determined. It was found that other analogues used as co-matrices could give analyte peak enhancement similar to reported for sDHB with the additional benefit that some analogues could act as matrices with DHB addition. No direct correlation was observed between absorption coefficient and the ability of the molecule to act as a 'good' UV MALDI matrix. 相似文献

Abstract Hydrogels have been prepared from 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate polymerized in the presence of isocyanate-terminated poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) crosslinking agents. PEGS of molecular weights 200, 400, and 1000 were investigated. The crosslinked nature of the hydrogels was demonstrated by their insolubility in solvents which normally dissolve poly(HEMA). Hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) was mainly used as the isocyanate. The molecular weight of the PEG and the crosslinker content significantly influenced the equilibrium water sorption and mechanical properties of the saturated networks. It was observed that as the molecular weight of the PEG increased, the water sorption increased and the nominal modulus decreased. However, for higher levels of cross-linker, water sorption decreased and modulus increased at low molecular weight PEG; for PEG 1000, water absorption increased as crosslinker content increased. These results are explained by the competing effects of flexibility, crosslink density, and hydrophobicity contributed by the various constituents of the hydrogels. 相似文献

There is often a need to calculate isotopic uranium activities from total uranium mass or gamma spectrometry measurement data.
This calculation is based on a model of the relationship of the234U activity to that of235U since both are enriched together in the normal gaseous diffusion enrichment process. This paper presents equations for calculating
these activities that have been developed from several sources of data. These equations have been used for several characterization
studies and have produced very good results when compared to results from actual isotopic uranium analyses. However, because
the variability in the model causes significant uncertainty in the calculated results, alpha-spectrometry is recommended for
