Noiselike magnetic resonance fine structure for ferromagnetic powders: Dipole-dipole interaction effects

A noiselike fine structure of ferromagnetic resonance spectra in magnetic powders was investigated after ultrasonic treatment. Magnetic interactions between particles are proved to have an influence upon the fine structure formation. After decreasing dipole-dipole magnetic interactions in dilute suspension a special order appears in fine-structure spectra, which is generally the same for different systems.     

Observation of dielectronic satellites in the K-spectrum of argon ions in plasma produced by femtosecond laser pulses

The satellite structure of 1s2p ^1,3 P ₁-1s ²¹ S ₀ lines of the He-like argon ion in plasma produced by a 45-fs laser pulse in a gas-jet cluster target is measured with a high spectral resolution. Radiation transitions 2p → 1s from autoionizing states (AISs) are detected for ions ranging from Li-like to F-like. The spectrum observed is theoretically simulated with the use of the spectroscopic data for the AISs of multicharged ions obtained within the multiconfiguration relativistic Hartree-Fock method. Good agreement with experimental data is obtained when the main population channels of these states are taken into account for typical values of cluster-target plasma parameters.     

On the Determination of the Absolute Intensities of Vibrational-Rotational Lines of XY3 Molecules with C 3v Symmetry

Analytical formulas are derived that describe the dependences of the transition probabilities in vibrational-rotational spectra of XY₃-type molecules with C _3v symmetry on the rotational quantum numbers.     

Syntactic characterization of closure under connected limits

Summary We give a syntactic characterization of (finitary) theories whose categories of models are closed under the formation of connected limits (respectively the formation of pullbacks and substructures) in the category of all structures. They are also those theories whose consistent extensions by new atomic facts admit in each component an initial structure (respectively an initial term structure), and also thoseT for whichM(T) is locally finitely multi-presentable in a canonical way. We also show that these two properties of theories are nonuniform.     

Diffusion from sessile droplets through membranes

We analyze diffusion from a periodic array of hemispherical droplets through a membrane. We find that the multiple sources do not interact strongly, even when the droplets are closely spaced, so that the flux through the membrane appears nearly additive.     

Model of separate sample spectra of coherent-echo signals based on Irkutsk incoherent-scatter radar data

We propose a model of coherent-echo signals during the monostatic sounding of the ionosphere. The model is based on the previously obtained radar equation for separate samples of the scattered signal. The dielectric-permittivity perturbation described by a discrete set of spatial harmonics modulated in space and time is used as the scattering irregularities. The model was tested using Irkutsk incoherent-scatter radar data obtained during the coherent-echo observations in July 15 and 16, 2000. In this Note, we study a 2×2 system of evolution equations with some codimension 3 crossing. We derive two conditions of non-degeneracy. We focus on one of them and reduce our system to some Landau–Zener's type system. Computer simulation of selective absorption of radiation by the components of a light-scattering layer

A method of calculating the partial characteristics of radiation absorption by the components of light-scattering disperse layers is proposed. This method is based on statistical modeling (the Monte Carlo method). The absorptivities of photographic gelatin and silver bromide microcrystals and the corresponding distributions of the absorbed energy over the layer thickness are calculated using the example of an interaction between actinic radiation and silver halide photographic layers in the wavelength range λ=200–440 nm. The following structural parameters of the photographic layer are used in the calculation: the mean size of emulsion crystals d=0.5 μm; the polydispersity C _V =25%; the volume concentrations C _V =10, 20, and 30%; and the thickness of the emulsion layer H=10 μm.
