Stress relaxation during plastic deformation has been reported to improve ductility and alter the mechanical properties of metallic materials. The aim of the present study is to investigate the role of various mechanisms responsible for this in stainless steel SS 316L. The fractography of the tested samples is analysed using an image analyser and the void fraction at failure is correlated with the corresponding mechanisms. The parametric studies on stress relaxation at different pre-strain and relaxation time correlate well with the fractography results supporting the proposed mechanisms. TEM investigation of dislocation structures and void characterisation further confirm the role of dislocation annihilation. Moreover, a novel indentation technique combining micro- and nano-indentation techniques is used to verify the role of stress homogenisation mechanism.  相似文献

We report on the results of a search for standard model Higgs bosons produced in association with W bosons from pp[over] collisions at sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV. The search uses a data sample corresponding to approximately 1 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity. Events consistent with the W-->lnu and H-->bb[over] signature are selected by triggering on a high-p(T) electron or muon candidate and tagging one or two of the jet candidates as having originated from b quarks. A neural network filter rejects a fraction of tagged charm and light-flavor jets, increasing the b-jet purity in the sample. We observe no excess lnubb[over] production beyond the background expectation, and we set 95% confidence level upper limits on the production cross section times branching fraction sigma(pp[over]-->WH)Br(H-->bb[over]) ranging from 3.9 to 1.3 pb, for specific Higgs boson mass hypotheses in the range 110 to 150 GeV/c2, respectively.  相似文献

We measure the mean lifetime tau=2/(Gamma_{L}+Gamma_{H}) and the decay-width difference DeltaGamma=Gamma_{L}-Gamma_{H} of the light and heavy mass eigenstates of the B_{s}{0} meson, B_{sL}{0} and B_{sH}{0}, in B_{s}{0}-->J/psivarphi decays using 1.7 fb;{-1} of data collected with the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp[over ] collider. Assuming CP conservation, a good approximation for the B_{s}{0} system in the standard model, we obtain DeltaGamma=0.076_{-0.063}{+0.059}(stat)+/-0.006(syst) ps{-1} and tau=1.52+/-0.04(stat)+/-0.02(syst) ps, the most precise measurements to date. Our constraints on the weak phase and DeltaGamma are consistent with CP conservation.  相似文献

We present the results of searches for large extra dimensions in samples of events with large missing transverse energy E_{T} and either a photon or a jet produced in pp[over ] collisions at sqrt[s]=1.96 TeV collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab II. For gamma+E_{T} and jet+E_{T} candidate samples corresponding to 2.0 and 1.1 fb;{-1} of integrated luminosity, respectively, we observe good agreement with standard model expectations and obtain a combined lower limit on the fundamental parameter of the large extra dimensions model M_{D} as a function of the number of extra dimensions in the model.  相似文献

We present the results of a search in pp collisions at sqrt[s] = 1.8 TeV for anomalous production of events containing a photon and a lepton (e or mu), both with large transverse energy, using 86 pb(-1) of data collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab during the 1994-1995 collider run at the Fermilab Tevatron. The presence of large missing transverse energy (E(T)), additional photons, or additional leptons in these events is also analyzed. The results are consistent with standard model expectations, with the possible exception of photon-lepton events with large E(T), for which the observed total is 16 events and the expected mean total is 7.6+/-0.7 events.  相似文献

It is important to examine the strong-coupling parameter Λ in deep-inelastic scattering, since (e.g.) the proton lifetime in grand-unified theories is quite sensitive to Λ. We show that Λ is not as small in μN scattering as previously reported. Furthermore, Λ extracted from F2(x, Q2) os highly correlated with the parameterization of the gluon distribution. Other problems arise from σL/σT assumptions.  相似文献

A simple extraction procedure has been developed to assess rapidly the probable extent of the transfer of radiocaesium into ruminant food products soon after a nuclear accident. The in vitro extractions were validated against true absorption measurements of different forms of radiocaesium in the sheep gut. Extractions were performed on a range of different radiocaesium sources. Some of these sources were artificial (ionic radiocaesium adsorbed onto bentonite, silica spheres and filter-papers) and others were environmentally contaminated [silt from the Ravenglass Estuary contaminated by effluent from British Nuclear Fuels Limited (BNFL) Sellafield, and upland grass and heather contaminated by Chernobyl fallout]. Laboratory experiments concentrated primarily on the use of simple inorganic extractants in competitive ion-exchange processes. Of the reagents used, 0.1 mol dm-3 stable caesium chloride solution was the most effective extractant. The proportion of radiocaesium extracted by 0.1 mol dm-3 caesium chloride correlated well with measurements of true absorption. Extracting radiocaesium using 0.1 mol dm-3 caesium chloride proved to be an inexpensive and rapid method of predicting the availability of radiocaesium for absorption in the ruminant gut, giving results within 24 h. Further extractions were carried out using cellulase/pepsin simulated digestions and ovine rumen fluid. Results suggested that the availability of radiocaesium from some inorganic sources may be underestimated using such techniques.  相似文献

We report the observation of a narrow state decaying into J/psipi+pi- and produced in 220 pb(-1) of p p-bar collisions at =1.96 Tesqaure root of sV in the CDF II experiment. We observe 730+/-90 decays. The mass is measured to be 3871.3+/-0.7(stat)+/-0.4(syst) MeV/c2, with an observed width consistent with the detector resolution. This is in agreement with the recent observation by the Belle Collaboration of the X(3872) meson.  相似文献
