Confidence regions in a multivariate regression model with constraints II

The multivariate model, where not only parameters of the mean value of the observation matrix, but also some other parameters occur in constraints, is considered in the paper. Some basic inference is presented under the condition that the covariance matrix is either unknown, or partially unknown, or known. On Nodal Sets for Dirac and Laplace Operators

We prove that the nodal set (zero set) of a solution of a generalized Dirac equation on a Riemannian manifold has codimension 2 at least. If the underlying manifold is a surface, then the nodal set is discrete. We obtain a quick proof of the fact that the nodal set of an eigenfunction for the Laplace-Beltrami operator on a Riemannian manifold consists of a smooth hypersurface and a singular set of lower dimension. We also see that the nodal set of a Δ-harmonic differential form on a closed manifold has codimension 2 at least; a fact which is not true if the manifold is not closed. Representations, convolution square roots and spherical vectors

We extend results on square integrable representations of a locally compact group to subrepresentations of a representations induced from a character of a closed subgroup. We do so working in the framework of quotient representations of ∗-algebras.     

Study of the spectrum of cherenkov light

It is pessible to study experimentally Cherenkov light spectra in a liquid scintillation spectrometer with colour filters. Cherenkov light spectra of⁶⁰Co,¹⁹⁸Au,¹¹⁵Cd,¹⁴³Ce,¹⁴⁰La,³²P,⁸⁶Rb,⁷⁶As,⁴²K and an external standard were studied in a Packard 3375 type liquid scintillation spectrometer, using 11 various Kodak Wratten filters. The absorption maxima of the filters ware in the 410–796 nm interval.     

On the S-procedure and Some Variants

We give a concise review and extension of S-procedure that is an instrumental tool in control theory and robust optimization analysis. We also discuss the approximate S-Lemma as well as its applications in robust optimization.The many suggestions and detailed corrections of an anonymous referee are gratefully acknowledged.     

Well-posed absorbing layer for hyperbolic problems

Summary. The perfectly matched layer (PML) is an efficient tool to simulate propagation phenomena in free space on unbounded domain. In this paper we consider a new type of absorbing layer for Maxwell's equations and the linearized Euler equations which is also valid for several classes of first order hyperbolic systems. The definition of this layer appears as a slight modification of the PML technique. We show that the associated Cauchy problem is well-posed in suitable spaces. This theory is finally illustrated by some numerical results. It must be underlined that the discretization of this layer leads to a new discretization of the classical PML formulation.
