The morphology, electronic structure and ordering of the phthalocyanine thin films have been investigated at nanometer scale by photoelectron emission microscopy (PEEM) excited by polarized soft X-rays from synchrotron light source. The sample investigated was micropattern of silicon phthalocyanine deposited on gold surface. The incident angle dependences of the X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) spectra at the silicon K-edge revealed that the molecules of 5-layered films are lying nearly flat on the surface. Clear image of the micropattern was observed by PEEM, showing that the molecules are deposited via Volmer–Weber (VW) mode at room temperature. While, the surface diffusion was observed upon heating, and the micropattern image almost disappeared at 240 °C, representing the deposition mode changes from VW-mode to Frank–van der Merwe (FM)-one. On the basis of the photon-energy dependences of the brightnesses in the PEEM images, it was found that the molecules diffusing to the fresh gold surface rather stand-up at 240 °C. The observed changes in the molecular orientations at nanometer domains are discussed on the basis of the strengths of the molecule–molecule and molecule–surface interactions.  相似文献

Hydroxy‐terminated telechelic poly(vinyl ether)s with pendant oxyethylene chains were synthesized by the reaction of the CH3CH(OCOCH3)? O[CH2]4O? CH(OCOCH3)CH3/Et1.5AlCl1.5/THF‐based bifunctional living cationic polymers of 2‐methoxyethyl vinyl ether (MOVE), 2‐ethoxyethyl vinyl ether (EOVE), and 2‐(2‐methoxyethoxy)ethyl vinyl ether (MOEOVE) with water and the subsequent reduction of the aldehyde polymer terminals with NaBH4. The obtained poly(vinyl ether) polyols were reacted with an equimolar amount of toluene diisocyanates [a mixture of 2,4‐ (80%) and 2,6‐ (20%) isomers] to give water‐soluble polyurethanes. The aqueous solutions of these polyurethanes caused thermally induced precipitation at a particular temperature depending on the sort of the thermosensitive poly(vinyl ether) segments containing oxyethylene side chains. These polyurethanes also function as polymeric surfactants, lowered the surface tension of their aqueous solutions. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Membrane fusion proteins such as the hemagglutinin glycoprotein have target recognition and fusion accelerative domains, where some synergistically working elements are essential for target-selective and highly effective native membrane fusion systems. In this work, novel membrane fusion devices bearing such domains were designed and constructed. We selected a phenylboronic acid derivative as a recognition domain for a sugar-like target and a transmembrane-peptide (Leu-Ala sequence) domain interacting with the target membrane, forming a stable hydrophobic α-helix and accelerating the fusion process. Artificial membrane fusion behavior between the synthetic devices in which pilot and target liposomes were incorporated was characterized by lipid-mixing and inner-leaflet lipid-mixing assays. Consequently, the devices bearing both the recognition and transmembrane domains brought about a remarkable increase in the initial rate for the membrane fusion compared with the devices containing the recognition domain alone. In addition, a weakly acidic pH-responsive device was also constructed by replacing three Leu residues in the transmembrane-peptide domain by Glu residues. The presence of Glu residues made the acidic pH-dependent hydrophobic α-helix formation possible as expected. The target-selective liposome-liposome fusion was accelerated in a weakly acidic pH range when the Glu-substituted device was incorporated in pilot liposomes. The use of this pH-responsive device seems to be a potential strategy for novel applications in a liposome-based delivery system.  相似文献

Hierarchical self‐assembly of an amphiphilic tris‐urea in aqueous media is shown. A mixture of the amphiphilic tris‐urea and an alkaline solution gave a viscous solution composed of fibrous aggregates. This viscous solution transformed into supramolecular hydrogels, which are capable of hierarchically organizing into higher‐order aggregates in response to several cationic triggers. The resulting supramolecular hydrogels were relatively stiff and their storage moduli attained over 103 Pa. The stimuli‐responsive and optical properties of the resulting hydrogels were influenced by the cationic trigger. Proton and calcium ion triggers gave pH‐ and chemical stimuli‐responsive hydrogels, respectively. A terbium ion trigger also provided a highly luminescent hydrogel through energy transfer from the tris‐urea to terbium.  相似文献

The scavenging effects of metal complexes of thiacalix[4]arenetetrasulfonate (Me-TCAS[4], Me=H?, Fe3(+), Mn3(+), Mn2(+), Cu2(+), and Zn2(+)) on superoxide anion radicals (O??) generated from the xanthine-xanthine oxidase system were investigated by the nitroblue tetrazolium (NBT) method and electron spin resonance (ESR) spin-trapping method using 5,5-dimethyl-1-pyrroline-N-oxide as a trapping reagent. As a reference, calix[4]arenetetrasulfonate (H?)-CAS[4]), calix[6]arenehexasulfonate (H?-CAS[6]) and calix[8]areneoctasulfonate (H?-CAS[8]) were also examined. The results by the NBT method indicated that Fe3(+)- and Mn3(+)-TCAS[4] exhibited the highest O?? scavenging activity among Me-TCAS[4] and H?-CAS[n] (n = 4, 6, 8) in this study. The IC?? values of Fe3(+)- and Mn3(+)-TCAS[4] for O?? scavenging activity were estimated to be 5.3 and 7.8 μM, respectively, and were almost the same as those of tannin acid, catechin and their derivatives, which are known as very effective scavengers of O??. Scavenging activities were in the order of Fe3(+)- and Mn3(+)-TCAS[4]>Mn2(+)-, Cu2(+)-, and Zn(2+)-TCAS[4]>H(2)-TCAS[4] and H?-CAS[n] (n=4, 6, 8). Each activity of Me-TCAS[4] (Me=Fe3(+), Mn3(+), Mn2(+), Cu2(+), and Zn2(+)) was higher than that of the corresponding metal ion, indicating that H?-TCAS[4] has the ability to raise the activity of the metal ion itself by forming a complex. Also, the ESR spin-trapping method revealed that Fe3(+)- and Mn3(+)-TCAS[4] showed high O?? scavenging activities, similarly to the results by the NBT method.  相似文献

The common FGHI-ring part (2) of ciguatoxins has been synthesized from the F- and I-ring parts (6 and 5, respectively). The Nozaki-Hiyama-Kishi coupling of 6 with 5 followed by regio- and stereoselective epoxidation at C29 and C30 afforded an epoxide (4), which was transformed into a tricyclic compound (3) corresponding to the F-HI-ring part by 6-exo-epoxide opening and the subsequent inversion of the C29 stereocenter. A light-harvesting complex of photosystem II (LHCII), isolated from spinach, was immobilized onto a gold electrode modified with self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of alkanethiols, NH2–(CH2) n –SH, n = 2, 6, 8, 11; HOOC–(CH2)7–SH; and CH3–(CH2)7–SH; and a bare electrode. The extent of LHCII complex adsorption according to surface treatment decreased in the order amino groups > carboxylic acid groups > methyl groups and increased with the methylene chain length in NH2–(CH2) n –SH. Interestingly, the photocurrent density depended on the terminal group and the methylene chain length in NH2–(CH2) n –SH and decreased in the order amino groups > methyl groups > carboxylic acid groups. An efficient photocurrent response of the LHCII complex on SAMs of NH2–(CH2) n –SH, n = 8 was observed upon illumination at 680 nm. These results indicated that the LHCII complexes were well organized on the cationic surfaces of the gold electrodes modified with amino alkanethiols. The quantum yield depended on the methylene chain length (n), where the maximum photocurrent response was observed at n = 8, which corresponded to a distance of 1.7 nm between the terminal amino group in NH2–(CH2)8–SH and the gold surface.  相似文献
