We consider a class of nonconvex and nonclosed hyperbolic differential inclusions and we prove the arcwise connectedness of the solution set.     

The Schur algorithm and coefficient characterizations for generalized Schur functions

In this paper we analyze the existence of a Schur algorithm and obtain coefficient characterizations for the functions in a generalized Schur class. An application to an interpolation problem of Carathéodory type raised by M.G. Krein and H. Langer is indicated.

     

Impact of ligand spacer and counter-anion in selected 1D iron(II) spin crossover coordination polymers

A new 1D coordination polymer [Fe(βAlatrz)₃](ClO₄)₂ ? H₂O (1) with a neutral bidentate ligand, βAlatrz = 4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-yl-propionate, was prepared and its magnetic behavior was investigated by temperature dependent magnetic susceptibility measurements and ⁵⁷Fe M?ssbauer spectroscopy. The temperature dependence of the high-spin molar fraction derived from ⁵⁷Fe M?ssbauer spectroscopy recorded on cooling below room temperature reveals a gradual single step transition with T_1/2 = 173?K between high-spin and low-spin states in agreement with magnetic susceptibility measurements. 1 presents striking reversible thermochromism from white, at room temperature, to pink on quench cooling to liquid nitrogen. The phase transition is of first order as deduced from differential scanning calorimetry, with T_1/2 matching the one determined by both SQUID and ⁵⁷Fe M?ssbauer spectroscopy. A brief assessment has been made among closely related 1D coordination polymers to perceive the effect of ligand spacer length and anion effect on the spin crossover behavior of these new materials.     

Directionally Continuous Selections and Nonconvex Evolution Inclusions

In Bressan and Staicu, Set-Valued Anal. 2 (1994), 415–437, qualitative properties for solutions of the evolution inclusion Ax+F(t,x), with A generator of a contractive semigroup and F a lower semicontinuous closed valued multifunction defined on compact subset of R×cl(D(A)), were deduced as corollaries of similar properties for solutions of the evolution inclusion Ax+G(t,x), where G is upper semicontinuous compact convex valued, obtained from a suitable directionally continuous selection from F.In this paper we prove that the compactness assumption on the domain of F can be avoided.     

Complexes of 3d(n) metal ions with thiosemicarbazones: synthesis and antimicrobial activity

The chelating behavior of the thiosemicarbazone derivatives of 2-hydroxy-8-R-tricyclo[7.3.1.0.(2,7)]tridecane-13-one (where R = H, CH3, C6H5) towards Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) has been investigated by elemental analysis, molar conductivity measurements, UV-VIS, IR, ESR spectroscopy and thermal studies. It was deduced from the experiments performed that the ligands coordinate to metal ions in different ways--neutral bidentate or mononegative bidentate--depending on the nature of R. Also, if metal acetates are used instead of metal chlorides, the ligands coordinate in a mononegative bidentate fashion, regardless of the nature of R or the thiosemicarbazone type ligand. The antimicrobial activity of the ligands and of the complexes towards samples of Acinetobacter boumanii, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa was determined.     

Finite Phase Space,Wigner Functions,and Tomography for Two-Qubit States

We discuss the Wigner functions and tomographic probability distributions of two-qubit states. We give the kernel of the map, which provides the expression of the state tomogram in terms of the Wigner function of the two-qubit state, in an explicit form. Also we obtain the kernel of the inverse map and elucidate the connection of the constructed maps with the star-product scheme of quantization.     

Novel 2-formylpyridine 4-allyl-S-methylisothiosemicarbazone and Zn(II), Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(III) complexes: Synthesis,characterization, crystal structure,antioxidant, antimicrobial and antiproliferative activity

New zinc (II), copper (II), nickel (II) and cobalt (III) complexes, [Zn (HL)₂]I₂ (1) , [Cu (HL)Cl₂] (2) , [Cu (HL)Br₂] (3) , [Cu (HL)(H₂O)₂](ClO₄)₂ (4) , [Ni (HL)₂]I₂·H₂O (5) , [Co(L)₂]Cl (6) , [Co(L)₂]NO₃ (7) , [Co(L)₂]I·[Co(L)₂](I₃) (8) were obtained with 2-formylpyridine 4-allyl-S-methylisothiosemicarbazone ( HL ). The isothiosemicarbazone ligand was characterized by NMR (¹H and ¹³C), IR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. All the complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV–Vis, ESI-MS spectroscopy, molar conductivity, magnetic susceptibility measurements. X-ray diffraction analysis on the monocrystal and powder elucidated the structure of the complexes 1 , 5 , 7 and 8 . The ligand and the complexes were tested for their antioxidant and antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Candida albicans. Also, the antiproliferative properties of these compounds on human leukemia HL-60, human cervical epithelial HeLa, human epithelial pancreatic adenocarcinoma BxPC-3, human muscle rhabdomyosarcoma spindle, large multinucleated RD cells and normal MDCK cells have been investigated. The nickel complex 5 and cobalt complexes 6 , 7 showed promising antiproliferative activity and low toxicity.     

Standardisation of a <Superscript>68</Superscript>(Ge+Ga) solution within the CCRI(II)-K2.Ge-68 key comparison

This paper presents the work performed in IFIN-HH, Radionuclide Metrology Laboratory, for the standardization of a ⁶⁸(Ge+Ga) solution, within our participation in the key-comparison codified as CCRI(II)-K2.Ge-68, organised by the CIPM-CCRI(II). Four methods were used: (i) the 4πβ(PC)-γ coincidence method, efficiency extrapolation variant, (ii) the liquid scintillation counting in the variant of triple to double coincidence ratio, (iii) the gamma-ray spectrometry and (iv) the well-type ionisation chamber measurement. The final result was calculated as “power moderate weighted mean” of all results. The results obtained in all methods are presented as relative figures.
