The refraction, dielectric, viscosity, density, data of the binary mixtures of N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMA) with n-butanol at 308.15 and 313.15 K. The measured parameters used to obtain derived properties like Bruggeman factor, molar refraction and excess static dielectric constant, excess inverse relaxation time, excess molar volume and excess viscosity, excess molar refraction. The variation in magnitude with composition and temperature of these quantities has been used to discuss the type, strength and nature of binary interactions. Results confirm that there are strong hydrogen-bond interactions between unlike molecules of DMA+ n-butanol mixtures and that 1: 1 complexes are formed and strength of intermolecular interaction increases with temperature.  相似文献

The tedanolides are biologically active polyketides that exhibit a macrolactone constructed from a primary alcohol. Since polyketidal transformations only generate secondary alcohols, it has been hypothesized by Taylor that this unique lactone could arise from a postketidal transesterification. In order to probe this hypothesis and to investigate the biological profile of the putative precursor of all members of the tedanolide family, we embarked on the synthesis of desepoxyisotedanolide and its biological evaluation in comparison to desepoxytedanolide. The biological experiments unraveled a second target for desepoxytedanolide and provided evidence that the proposed transesterification indeed provides a survival advantage for the producing microorganism.  相似文献

The proline-rich N-Terminal domain peptides of γ-zein (VHLPPP)n with n = 1 and 3 (peptides I and II) are shown to form stable Langmuir films at air/water interface and the films have been characterized using surface pressure–molecular area (πA), surface potential–molecular area (ΔVA) isotherms, respectively. The longer peptide sequence does not show dramatic increase in surface or interfacial properties suggesting that the minimum length of n = 1 is sufficient to achieve the necessary surface properties. Brewster angle micrographs also agreed with these results. The high surface-active nature of the peptide suggests a fairly non-polar character at air/water interface and at solid/air interface when coated expresses a high surface energy.

Additives such as isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) with the peptides showed more homogenous films at the air/water interface and also improved mechanical and tensile properties. The organized assembly of peptide I at the air/water and solid/air interface suggests that even thin layer of the peptide could play an important role in coating the inner surface of protein body membrane in storage proteins. Composite films of such short peptides with biocompatible polymers may find applications as surface coatings and in biomaterials.  相似文献

Studies on strontium substituted rare earth manganites   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Sintering, electrical conductivity and thermal expansion behaviour of combustion synthesised strontium substituted rare earth manganites with the general formula Ln1−xSrxMnO3 (Ln=Pr, Nd and Sm; x=0, 0.16 and 0.25) have been investigated as solid oxide fuel cell cathode materials. The combustion derived rare earth manganites have surface area in the range of 13–40 m2/g. Strontium substitution increases the electrical conductivity values in all the rare earth manganites. With the decreasing ionic radii of rare earth ions, the conductivity value decreases. Among the rare earth manganites studied, (Pr/Nd)0.75Sr0.25MnO3 show high electrical conductivity (>100 S/cm). The thermal expansion coefficients of Pr0.75Sr0.25MnO3 and Nd0.75Sr0.25MnO3 were found to be 10.2×10−6 and 10.7×10−6 K−1 respectively, which is very close to that of the electrolyte (YSZ) used in solid oxide fuel cells.  相似文献

Thomson scattering technique based on high power laser has already proved its superoirity in measuring the electron temperature (T e and density (n e) in fusion plasma devices like tokamaks. The method is a direct and unambiguous one, widely used for the localised and simultaneous measurements of the above parameters. In Thomson scattering experiment, the light scattered by the plasma electrons is used for the measurements. The plasma electron temperature is measured from the Doppler shifted scattered spectrum and density from the total scattered intensity. A single point Thomson scattering system involving a Q-switched ruby laser and PMTs as the detector is deployed in ADITYA tokamak to give the plasma electron parameters. The system is capable of providing the parameters T e from 30 eV to 1 keV and n e from 5 × 1012cm−3−5 × 1013cm−3. The system is also able to give the parameter profile from the plasma center (Z=0 cm) to a vertical position of Z=+22 cm to Z=−14 cm, with a spatial resolution of 1 cm on shot to shot basis. This paper discusses the initial measurements of the plasma temperature from ADITYA.  相似文献

We presented simulation of fractal pattern in electrodeposition (Diffusion limited aggregation) using concept of off lattice walk.It is seen that the growth patterns are based on a parameter called ‘bias’. This parameter ‘bias’ controls the growth of patterns similar to that of electric field in electrodeposition technique. In present study the fractal patterns are grown for different values of ‘bias’. Dendritic patterns grown at lower value of ‘bias’ comprises open structure and show limited branching. As the bias is increased the growth tends to be dense and show more crowded branching. Box counting was implemented to calculate fractal dimension. The structural and textural complexities and are compared with the experimental observations.It was also noted that in the evolution of DLA patterns, the center of mass of the growth is shifted slightly. We tracked the position of the center of mass of simulated electro deposits under different electric field conditions. The center of mass exhibit random walk like patterns and it wanders around the origin or the starting point of the growth.  相似文献

Sol–gel nanocomposite coatings were fabricated by spraying precursor mixtures containing hydrophobically modified silica (HMS) nanoparticles dispersed in sol–gel matrices prepared with acid-catalyzed tetraethoxysilane (TEOS), and methyltriethoxysilane (MTEOS). The hydrophobicity of the coatings increased with increase in the concentration of HMS nanoparticles. Superhydrophobic coatings with water contact angle (WCA) of 166° and roll-off angle <2° were obtained by optimizing the sol–gel processing parameters and the concentration of silica nanoparticles in the coating. FESEM studies have shown that surface has a micro-nano binary structure composed of microscale bumps and craters with protrusions of nanospheres. The properties of composite coatings fabricated by spin coating and spray coating methods were compared. It was found that the microstructure and the wettability were also dependent on the method of application of the coating.  相似文献
