Towards Treating Correlations in Bose Condensates

 We use the adiabatic hyperspheric expansion and the Faddeev decomposition of the wave function with only s-waves. We derive for a fixed hyperradius an integro-differential equation for the angular eigenvalue and wave function. The correlations lower the interaction energy for N = 20 by about a factor of 5. Forward-angle yields of 2≤Z≤11 isotopes in the reaction of 18O(35A MeV) with 9Be

A systematic investigation of the forward-angle inclusive yields of 2≤Z≤11 isotopes produced in collisions of ¹⁸O projectile nuclei with a ⁹Be target in the Fermi energy region (35A MeV) is performed. The measurements were based on the use of the COMBAS double achromatic kinematical separator in the spectrometry mode at the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, FLNR (JINR, Dubna). The velocity, isotopic, and element distributions are presented. There is no unique mechanism that would explain the total set of results obtained in this experiment. A dominant role of low-energy reaction mechanisms is observed. The intensity of secondary beams of halolike nuclei ¹¹Li, ¹²Be, and ¹⁴Be is determined.     

Pion correlations and resonance effects in \bar{p}p annihilation to 4\pi^0 at rest

We study correlations in the exclusive reaction at rest with complete reconstruction of the kinematics for each event. The inclusive distribution is fairly flat at small invariant mass of the pion pair while a small enhancement in the double differential distribution is observed for small invariant masses of both pion pairs. Dynamical models with resonances in the final state are shown to be consistent with the data while the stochastic HBT mechanism is not supported by the present findings. Equilibrium Problems with Applications to Eigenvalue Problems

In this paper, we consider equilibrium problems and introduce the concept of (S)₊ condition for bifunctions. Existence results for equilibrium problems with the (S)₊ condition are derived. As special cases, we obtain several existence results for the generalized nonlinear variational inequality studied by Ding and Tarafdar (Ref. 1) and the generalized variational inequality studied by Cubiotti and Yao (Ref. 2). Finally, applications to a class of eigenvalue problems are given.     

Unavoidable Traces Of Set Systems

Sauer, Shelah, Vapnik and Chervonenkis proved that if a set system on n vertices contains many sets, then the set system has full trace on a large set. Although the restriction on the size of the groundset cannot be lifted, Frankl and Pach found a trace structure that is guaranteed to occur in uniform set systems even if we do not bound the size of the groundset. In this note we shall give three sequences of structures such that every set system consisting of sufficiently many sets contains at least one of these structures with many sets.     

Generalized lattice model of liquid state and its relation to Ginzburg–Landau theory

Basic principles of the generalized lattice model of multicomponent condensed systems are formulated. Short-range parts of interatomic interactions are taken into account by means of the geometric constraints method. Long-range parts of the interactions are taken into account in mean field approximation. The expression for Helmholtz free energy is obtained. A system of integral equations for the equilibrium distributions of components is derived. The asymptotic properties of its solutions are investigated. Moment expansion of interatomic interactions and localization of integral terms in free energy is obtained. A Ginzburg–Landau-like functional of free energy is derived.
