A measurement of π+p backward elastic differential cross sections from 1.282 to 2.472 GeV/c

New high-statistics measurements of π⁺p elastic scattering differential cross sections are presented at 30 momentum points between 1.282 and 2.472 GeV/c, covering most of the angular distribution outside the forward diffractive peak. These data show significant disagreements at some momenta with previous high-statistics experiments and with current partial wave analyses.     

Composite gluons and magnetic monopoles

We present a static solution to the classical field equations of a purely spinorial model with SU(2) internal symmetry. The model contains composite vector and pseudovector gluon fields. The solution for the vector field is precisely that of the Wu-Yang monopole.     

The inhomogeneous quantum invariance group of commuting fermions

We consider a model of d fermions where creation and annihilation operators of different fermions commute. We show that this particle algebra is invariant under an inhomogeneous quantum group.      

Synthesis of cyclopropane-annulated conduritol derivatives: norcaran-2,3,4,5-tetraoles

Norcaran-2,3,4,5-tetraoles were synthesized starting from methyl 1,3,5-cycloheptatriene-7-carboxylate in several steps. Norcaradiene endoperoxide is the key component; it was obtained by photooxygenation of methyl 1,3,5-cycloheptatriene-7-carboxylate. The other oxygen functionalities are introduced through epoxide ring opening and OsO₄-hydroxylation reactions.     

Response to “The Mössbauer rotor experiment and the general theory of relativity” by C. Corda

We show that a new attempt by Corda (2016), just like his previous attempt (Corda, 2015) that we had answered before (A.L. Kholmetskii et al., 2015), to reinterpret Mössbauer experiments in a rotating system as a “new, strong and independent proof of the correctness of Einstein’s vision of gravity” is erroneous. In addition, we demonstrate that Corda’s criticism of Yarman–Arik–Kholmetskii gravitation theory (in short YARK), is based on the application of ill-posed logic; thus rendering his claims against YARK as unfounded.     

Probabilistic Fuzzy Sets and a Related Operator Algebra

The rules of union and intersection of probabilistic fuzzy sets guided us to construct a related operator algebra. In a Hilbert space, where each fuzzy set is represented by an orthonormal vector, the union and the intersection operators generate a well-defined algebra with a unique representation. Coupled chemical reactions in dynamic nanometric confinement: IV. Ion transmission spectrometric analysis of nanofluidic behavior and membrane formation during track etching in polymers

In recent papers, it was shown that coupled chemical-topological reactions (CCRs) with both NaOH etchant and silver salts, performed in thin swift-heavy ion-irradiated polymers under the application of a test voltage across the polymer foils, eventually gave rise to characteristic current/voltage features and Bode plots that were tentatively attributed to the formation of Ag₂O membranes within the etched tracks. The same was also found when replacing the silver ions by lithium ions, and adding fluoride ions to the NaOH etchant, to promote LiF membrane formation. Ion Transmission Spectrometry (ITS) enabled us to reconfirm the existence of these membranes beyond doubt. The membrane thickness was determined to be ～0.2–0.4?µm in the best cases.

ITS also revealed that hitherto membrane formation occurs only in ～1% of all tracks, or even less. The reason for this poor abundance seems to be that the decisive factor for membrane formation, which is the firm anchoring of the emerging solid Ag₂O or LiF reaction products on the etched track walls, was hitherto rarely fulfilled. We attribute this tentatively to the too high test voltage applied for controlling the CCR process that might hinder the product anchoring on the walls by promoting nanofluidic electromigration. Indeed, voltage reduction seems to improve the situation.     

Multi-parameter deformations and multi-particle representations of the bosonic oscillator

In this paper, we consider a multi-parameter deformation of the bosonic oscillator algebra and determine the consistency conditions on the parameters. For a d-dimensional oscillator we find 2d parameters. Finally, we present the Fock representation of this oscillator. Received: 16 February 2000 / Published online: 11 May 2001     

Invariance quantum group of the fermionic oscillator

The fermionic oscillator defined by the algebraic relations cc ^* +c ^* c = 1 and c ² = 0 admits the homogeneous group O(2) as its invariance group. We show that the structure of the inhomogeneus invariance group of this oscillator is a quantum group. Quantum Fisher Information of Several Qubitsin the Superposition of A GHZ and two W Stateswith Arbitrary Relative Phase

We study the quantum Fisher information (QFI) of a system of several particles which is in a superposition of a GHZ and two W states with arbitrary relative phase. We show that as the number of particles increases from 3 to 4, the behavior of QFI drastically changes. We also show how the dependence of QFI on the relative phase weakens as the number of particles increases. We also analyze the QFI for the state for several instances of N due to the change of the relative phases.
