In this paper Jeffery–Hamel flow has been studied and its nonlinear ordinary differential equation has been solved through homotopy analysis method (HAM). The obtained solution in comparison with the numerical ones represents a remarkable accuracy. The results also indicate that HAM can provide us with a convenient way to control and adjust the convergence region.  相似文献

We report on peculiar dynamic features of laser oscillation in a cavity with a semiconductor junction as the gain medium and an intracavity atomic absorber. The output face of the semiconductor is antireflection coated, and lasing action is achieved by using a diffraction grating to close the laser cavity. The spectral analysis of the laser emission evidences a stable emission with narrow linewidth when the oscillating frequency is resonant with the atomic absorber. We also observe frequency bistability and instability. The change between these regimes is controlled through the bias current in a very reproducible way.  相似文献

This review concentrates on two different language dimensions: lexical/semantic and grammatical. This distinction between a lexical/semantic system and a grammatical system is well known in linguistics, but in cognitive neurosciences it has been obscured by the assumption that there are several forms of language disturbances associated with focal brain damage and hence language includes a diversity of functions (phoneme discrimination, lexical memory, grammar, repetition, language initiation ability, etc.), each one associated with the activity of a specific brain area. The clinical observation of patients with cerebral pathology shows that there are indeed only two different forms of language disturbances (disturbances in the lexical/semantic system and disturbances in the grammatical system); these two language dimensions are supported by different brain areas (temporal and frontal) in the left hemisphere. Furthermore, these two aspects of the language are developed at different ages during child's language acquisition, and they probably appeared at different historical moments during human evolution. Mechanisms of learning are different for both language systems: whereas the lexical/semantic knowledge is based in a declarative memory, grammatical knowledge corresponds to a procedural type of memory. Recognizing these two language dimensions can be crucial in understanding language evolution and human cognition.  相似文献

Given a matroid M on the ground set E, the Bergman fan or space of M-ultrametrics, is a polyhedral complex in which arises in several different areas, such as tropical algebraic geometry, dynamical systems, and phylogenetics. Motivated by the phylogenetic situation, we study the following problem: Given a point in we wish to find an M-ultrametric which is closest to it in the -metric. The solution to this problem follows easily from the existence of the subdominant M-ultrametric: a componentwise maximum M-ultrametric which is componentwise smaller than . A procedure for computing it is given, which brings together the points of view of matroid theory and tropical geometry. When the matroid in question is the graphical matroid of the complete graph Kn, the Bergman fan parameterizes the equidistant phylogenetic trees with n leaves. In this case, our results provide a conceptual explanation for Chepoi and Fichets method for computing the tree that most closely matches measured data.Received August 12, 2004  相似文献

A rapid Raman spectroscopy protocol is reported to classify gasoline according to its distributor and to identify and quantify common adulterants. Gasoline from three distributors was collected from 19 stations in São Paulo, Brazil. Principal component analysis (PCA) showed specific clusters for each distributor, and partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) correctly identified the origin of the samples. To evaluate the technique for the identification and quantification of the adulterants, authentic samples from each distributor were fortified at levels from 2.5 up to 25.0% (v/v) using ethanol, methanol, toluene, and turpentine to obtain 120 altered samples. PCA showed clear separation among the samples with the adulterants and PLS-DA precisely identified the adulterants (478 in 480 predictions by cross-validation), irrespective of the distributor and the concentration. One classification model was used to characterize all distributors. To quantify the adulterants, 36 multivariate calibration models were constructed using partial least squares (PLS), interval PLS, and PLS genetic algorithm for each distributor and for each adulterant. Cross-validation errors of less than 5.0% were obtained for all adulterants regardless of the distributor. Raman spectroscopy and multivariate analysis were shown to be powerful for rapid and inexpensive for the characterization of gasoline origin and the identification and quantification of common adulterants.  相似文献

Some nitroaromatic compounds are found in wastewater from industries such as the weapons industry or the wine industry. One of these compounds is 3,5-dinitrosalicylic acid (DNS), widely used in various tests and frequently found as an emerging pollutant in wastewater and to which the required attention has not been given, even though it may cause serious diseases due to its high toxicity. This study investigated the adsorption of DNS using granulated activated carbon (GAC) and powdered activated carbon (PAC) at different temperatures. The results show that in equilibrium, the adsorption takes place in more than one layer and is favorable for the removal of DNS in both GAC and PAC; The maximum adsorption capacity was obtained at 45 °C, with values of 6.97 mg/g and 11.57 mg/g, respectively. The process is spontaneous and exothermic. In addition, there was a greater disorder in the solid-liquid interface during the desorption process. The predominant kinetics using GAC (7.14 mg/g) as an adsorbent is Elovich, indicating that there are heterogeneous active sites, and when PAC (10.72 mg/g) is used, Pseudo-second order kinetics predominate, requiring two active sites for DNS removal. External mass transfer limitations are only significant in GAC, and ATR-FTIR studies in PAC demonstrated the participation of functional groups present on the adsorbent surface for DNS adsorption.  相似文献
