Synthesis of diacetylenic alcohols,glycols, and their derivatives on the basis of diacetylene

Summary A one-step synthesis of primary, secondary, and tertiary alcohols and glycols as well as their selective hydrogenation to the corresponding diene derivatives was found possible based on diacetylene and carbonyl compounds.     

Baryon number transfer in hadronic interactions

The process of baryon number transfer due to string junction propagation in rapidity space is analyzed. It has a significant effect on the net baryon production in pp collisions at mid-rapidities and an even larger effect in the forward hemisphere in the cases of and interactions. The results of numerical calculations in the framework of the quark-gluon string model are in reasonable agreement with the data. Optics of magnetoelectric media in the presence of a magnetic field and a spatial dispersion of the dielectric permittivity

Influence of an external magnetic field and a spatial dispersion of the dielectric permittivity on the irreversibility of waves in magnetoelectric media is considered. Features of the azimuth inhomogeneity at the simultaneous anisotropy of the dielectric permittivity and magnetic permeability in these media are studied.     

Preparative synthesis of isoprene oxide

Multi-soliton method for removal of misfit dislocations from functional area of heterostructures

A theoretical model was developed for reduction of the density of misfit dislocations at boundaries of heterojunctions. The model is based on the repulsion of a multi-soliton chain and of a single dislocation, as a result of which the removal of the dislocation from the functional area of heterostructure occurs.     

Magnification at diffraction of widely divergent beam of X-ray radiation

A new technique for realization of diffraction of a widely divergent beam of characteristic X-ray radiation in crystals is developed. It is shown that the X-ray diffraction image is a set of hyperbolas, which are formed by radiation diffracted from certain points of the crystal surface (active points). The active points are also located along hyperbolas and to every point of the diffraction image corresponds an active point on the crystal surface. The diffraction pattern is a magnified image of the distribution of active points. The diffraction magnification has been determined experimentally and it was shown to coincide to high accuracy with the calculated value. A method is proposed for detection of structurally distorted local domains and determination of their sizes.     

Quantum nondemolition measurements of the phase and polarization Stokes parameters of optical fields

We propose a new method for performing continuous quantum nondemolition measurements (QNDM) of the polarization characteristics of light, the signal photon number, and the Stokes parameters of light. For devices that implement such measurements we take cubically nonlinear double-filament optical fibers with tunnel coupling of the filaments. Such a system employs a four-mode mixing of the waves (two probe modes and two signal modes). Linear optical elements needed for preliminary and subsequent conversion of the Stokes parameters are also used. We show that measurements of one Stokes parameter can be used for QNDM of the phase difference between the two initial modes. Here the accuracy of such measurements is determined by the initial fluctuations of the Stokes parameters of the probe modes and by the size of the nonlinear mode conversion coefficient in the optical fibers.
