On a site-selective exafs experiment using optical emission

X-ray-excited optical luminescence (XEOL) is known to offer an alternative detection scheme of EXAFS spectra. Although this secondary emission appears restricted to a rather limited number of systems, we show that it can afford, under appropriate circumstances, an interesting property of site selectivity. The case of a ZnO + ZnTPP mixture was chosen as an illustrative example. The relevant formulation of the phenomenon for powdered samples is developed and the requirements for site selectivity are discussed.     

Nuclear polarized7Li and14N ions via ion beam surface interaction at grazing incidence

Using singly or doubly reflected 270keV-ions from a Cu-surface at grazing incidence nuclear polarizations in⁷Li ofP _I=(6.8±0.6) % orP _I= (11.5±1.0) % and in¹⁴N ofP _I =(14.8±1.0) % orP _I=(20.0±1.0) % respectively, have been achieved.     

Polarographisches Verhalten von 1,2,3-Cyclohexantrion-trioxim in sauren Lösungen

The deoximation kinetics of 1,2,3-cyclohexanetrione trioxime was studied polarographically in 0.5 and 1.0M-HClO₄ solutions. From the three vicinal oxime groups, that in position 2 is hydrolysed by protonisation, followed by water uptake and hydroxylamine loss. The probable mechanism of the deoximation was proved by the study of the polarographic behaviour of 1,2,3-cyclohexanetrione-1,3-dioxime and by means of amperometric determination of the unchanged trioxime with Ni(II)-salt.     

Electronically ‘atypical’ a 15-type compounds based on chromium and molybdenum

The superconducting transition temperature has been investigated as a function of composition and degree of long-range order in a number of binary and ternary A 15-type phases on Cr and Mo. It is concluded that these compounds are unlike the typical Nb- or V- based phases with the same structure. The maximum T_c does usually not occur at the ideal composition. Nevertheless, a correlation has been found between T_c and the degree of order.
