Wide band-gap group-III nitrides are important for the design of optical devices in the blue and blue–green region. Owing to their wurtzite structure, these materials have a strong inherent polarization field that affects carrier distribution, exciton stability and hence influences the optical properties of the devices. So far, carriers have been assumed to have a sheet-like character. In this paper a non sheet-like distribution function for these quasi two-dimensional carriers is proposed that incorporates the effect of the polarization field. Here GaN/InGaN/GaN and AlGaN/GaN/AlGaN quantum wells have been studied. The polarization field causes the electron and hole wave functions to separate out, thus causing decrease of emission strength and strong reduction of exciton binding energy. This treatment explains well the qualitative nature of carrier distribution in the well. The polarization field changes with GaN mole fraction present in the tertiary nitride layer. The effect of mole fraction on carrier distribution has also been studied. It is found that, inside the well, the hole distribution changes a little more with change in mole fraction than the electron distribution, but for all practical purposes the net change in the distribution pattern is negligible. 相似文献

A novel photoelectrochemical cell using a proton pump mechanism in the aggregated planar structure of oxidised cholesterol incorporating merocyanine dyes is reported. Independent isomeric yield ratios of128Sb were determined radiochemically in the thermal neutron induced fission of241Pu and 34 MeV alpha particle induced fission of238U, both involving the same compound nucleus (242Pu). Fragment angular momenta estimated from the measured isomer ratios using the statistical model analysis showed significantly larger fragment angular momenta in the medium energy fissioning system compared to the low energy fissioning system. This has been attributed to the effect of higher excitation energy and angular momentum in the entrance channel leading to increased fragment temperature, moments of inertia and angular velocity. An attempt was made to calculate the fragment angular momentum in the medium energy fission using the Fermi gas model for the fissioning nucleus, taking into account the multichance fission, saddle shapes of the fissioning nuclei and the angular velocity components of the fissioning nuclei both along and orthogonal to the fission axis. We prove that the zero set of any quaternionic (or octonionic)analytic function f with central (that is, real) coefficientsis the disjoint union of codimension two spheres in R4 or R8(respectively) and certain purely real points. In particular,for polynomials with real coefficients, the complete root-setis geometrically characterisable from the lay-out of the rootsin the complex plane. The root-set becomes the union of a finitenumber of codimension 2 Euclidean spheres together with a finitenumber of real points. We also find the preimages f1for any quaternion (or octonion) A. We demonstrate that this surprising phenomenon of complete spheresbeing part of the solution set is very markedly a special realphenomenon. For example, the quaternionic or octonionic Nthroots of any non-real quaternion (respectively octonion) turnout to be precisely N distinct points. Electrochemical Characterization of the Interaction of Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes with Doxorubicin

It has been suggested that multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) interacting with pharmaceutics may be introduced into the body as nanocarriers. To deliver the anticancer drugs, covalent or noncovalent functionalization of MWCNTs is required. In this study, the influence of oxidation on MWCNTs in the interaction with chemotherapeutic drug, doxorubicin, was characterized. The binding of doxorubicin with MWCNTs decreased rapidly with the increasing oxidation period with sulfuric acid. However, with nitric acid, the interaction increased initially and slowly decreased with time. The best results were obtained for sulfuric and nitric acid following 1 and 3?h of oxidation, respectively. The results show that sulfuric acid provided more favorable interaction for MWCNTs with doxorubicin than nitric acid. 相似文献

Zusammenfassung Es wird die zweidimensionale schleichende Strömung einer einfachen viskoelastischen Flüssigkeit durch einen endlich breiten Spalt mit Hilfe einer Störungsrechnung untersucht. Dabei wird vorausgesetzt, daß die Relaxationslänge klein gegen die Spaltbreite ist.Für einige Werte der Strömungsparameter werden Ergebnisse für die Geschwindigkeitsverteilung im Spalt, den Stromlinienverlauf und die Reibungsspannungen graphisch dargestellt und diskutiert. Obwohl wegen der Beschränkung der Lösungsmethode die bei Experimenten beobachteten Zirkulationsströmungen nicht beschrieben werden können, zeigen die Ergebnisse, daß die Tendenz der Abweichung vom newtonschen Verhalten in die gleiche Richtung geht.

Summary The two-dimensional creeping flow of a simple viscoelastic fluid through a finite gap located in an infinitely wide plate is analysed by using a perturbation method.Solutions for the streamline pattern, the velocity distribution in the gap and the stress components are derived and discussed. Because of the restrictions of the perturbation method no circular flow, as observed in some experiments, is predicted, but the results indicate at least some tendencies into this direction.
