Enantioface-selective palladium-catalyzed silaboration of allenes via double asymmetric induction

Enantioenriched beta-borylallylsilanes were synthesized by palladium-catalyzed enantioface-selective addition of the silicon-boron bond to terminal allenes using a palladium catalyst possessing a chiral monodentate phosphine ligand. Use of a silylborane bearing a chiral auxiliary on the boron atom was beneficial to gain enantioface selectivities as high as 96% de.     

New resveratrol oligomers in the stem bark of Vatica pauciflora

Five new resveratrol oligomers; pauciflorols A-C (1-3), isovaticanols B (6) and C (8), and three new oligostilbene glucosides; pauciflorosides A (11), B (13), C (14), were isolated from the stem bark of Vatica pauciflora (Dipterocarpaceae) together with known 17 resveratrol oligomers (4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 12 and 15-25) and bergenin (26). The structures of isolates were established on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analysis. The typical and characteristic spectral properties of some resveratrol oligomers were also discussed.     

Long-range jump versus stepwise hops: magnetic field effects on the charge-transfer fluorescence from photoconductive polymer films

Magnetic field effects on the charge-transfer (CT) fluorescence of a 1,2,4,5-tetracyanobenzene-doped poly(N-vinylcarbazole) thin film were investigated to clarify the primary process in photoconductive organic amorphous solid. The CT fluorescence increased with increasing magnetic field until 10 mT, and then it showed the dip around 40-50 mT. The hyperfine coupling mechanism observed in the low field and the level-crossing mechanism observed around 46 mT clearly indicate that the spin-conservative stepwise hole hops take place in the films. The boundary distance determined from the simulation based on the stepwise hopping model almost agreed with the interionic separation estimated within the Onsager analysis.     

Mixed-Valent Heptairon Complex with a Ground-State Spin Value of S=12/2 Constructed from a Triiron Cluster Ligand

The anionic triiron(III) cluster ligand [Fe(III)(3)(μ(3)-O)(bpca)(2)Cl(4)(EtO)(2)](-) (1; Hbpca=bis(2-pyridylcarbonyl)amine) was prepared as a building block for constructing larger metal assemblies. This "metal cluster complex ligand" was used in the synthesis of the mixed-valent heptairon complex [Fe(II)(1)(2)(EtOH)(2)], which has a ground-state spin value of S=12/2.     

Charge‐transfer complexes of N‐methyl‐, N‐iso­propyl‐, N‐butyl‐ and N‐iso­butyl­carbazole with 3,5‐di­nitro­benzoic acid

In the title four compounds, C₁₃H₁₁N·C₇H₄N₂O₆, (I), C₁₅H₁₅N·C₇H₄N₂O₆, (II), C₁₆H₁₇N·C₇H₄N₂O₆, (III), and C₁₆H₁₇N·C₇H₄N₂O₆, (IV), the donor and acceptor mol­ecules are stacked alternately to form one‐dimensional columns. In (I), the N‐methyl group of the donor is nearly eclipsed with respect to one of the nitro groups of the neighboring acceptor in a column, whereas the N‐iso­propyl, N‐butyl and N‐iso­butyl groups are in anti positions with respect to one of the nitro groups of the neighboring acceptor in compounds (II)–(IV).     

1,3‐Propane­di­ammonium bis(3′‐nitro‐trans‐cinnamate) and trans‐1,2‐cyclo­hexane­di­ammonium bis(3′‐nitro‐trans‐cinnamate)

In the title two adducts, C₃H₁₂N₂²⁺·2C₉H₆NO₄^?, (I), and C₆H₁₆N₂²⁺·2C₉H₆NO₄^?, (II), hydrogen bonds between the di­ammonium and carboxyl­ate ions form a two‐dimensional network parallel to the ab plane in (I) and one‐dimensional chains along the c axis in (II). The cyclo­hexane­di­ammonium ion in (II) has a crystallographic twofold axis.     

60]fullerenoacetyl chloride as a versatile precursor for fullerene derivatives: efficient ester formation with various alcohols

[reaction: see text] [60]Fullerenoacetyl chloride, one of the reactive derivatives of [60]fullerenoacetic acid, was isolated and identified for the first time. This acid chloride was easily synthesized in good yield from tert-butyl [60]fullerenoacetate through two steps. In the presence of 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine as a base, the acid chloride smoothly reacted with various alcohols under mild conditions to give the corresponding esters including [60]fullerene-biomolecule hybrids in moderate to high yields.     

Synthesis and properties of bowl‐shaped homotriazacalix[3 and 6] arenes and the acyclic analogues

Bowl‐shaped chiral homotriazacalixarenes were prepared by the cyclization reactions of chiral triamines with three equimolar amounts of bis(chloromethyl) phenols or bis(chloromethyl) phenol‐formaldehyde dimers in moderate yields. The corresponding acyclic phenol‐formaldehyde oligomers were also synthesized. The structural analysis of the macrocycles by nmr and circular dichroism spectra imply the existence of chiral transmission from the point chirality of the cysteine bridge to the cyclophane moiety. Their cyclic and acyclic compounds have a π‐base cavity large enough to include the ammonium ion.
