Global weak solutions of the Cauchy problem for semilinear pseudo-hyperbolic equations

The Cauchy problem for a class of semilinear pseudo-hyperbolic equations is considered. For the corresponding linear problems, we obtain L _p → L _q estimates. By using these estimates, we prove global solvability theorems. We also establish the behavior of solutions as t → + ∞.     

Type N spacetimes as solutions of extended new massive gravity

We study algebraic type N spacetimes in the extended new massive gravity (NMG), considering both the Born-Infeld model (BI-NMG) and the model of NMG with any finite order curvature corrections. We show that for these spacetimes, the field equations of BI-NMG take the form of the massive (tensorial) Klein–Gordon type equation, just as it happens for ordinary NMG. This fact enables us to obtain the type N solution to BI-NMG, utilizing the general type N solution of NMG, earlier found in our work. We also obtain type N solutions to NMG with all finite order curvature corrections and show that, in contrast to BI-NMG, this model admits the critical point solutions, which are counterparts of “logarithmic” AdS pp-waves solutions of NMG.     

Search for Down-Type Fourth Generation Quarks with the ATLAS Detector in Events with One Lepton and Hadronically Decaying W Bosons

This Letter presents a search for pair production of heavy down-type quarks decaying via b^{'}→Wt in the lepton+jets channel, as b^{'}b[over ˉ]^{'}→W^{-}tW^{+}t[over ˉ]→bb[over ˉ]W^{+}W^{-}W^{+}W^{-}→l^{±}νbb[over ˉ]qq[over ˉ]qq[over ˉ]qq[over ˉ]. In addition to requiring exactly one lepton, large missing transverse momentum, and at least six jets, the invariant mass of nearby jet pairs is used to identify high transverse momentum W bosons. In data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.04 fb^{-1} from pp collisions at sqrt[s]=7 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector, a heavy down-type quark with mass less than 480?GeV can be excluded at the 95% confidence level.     

Dielectric properties and phase transitions in crystals of TlInS x Se2 − x solid solutions

This paper reports on a study of the dielectric permittivity and electrical conductivity of single-crystal TlInS _x Se_{2 − x} solid solutions as functions of temperature and composition. It has been found that the dielectric permittivity ɛ and electrical conductivity σ decrease with increasing x and increase with growing temperature. The temperature dependences ɛ = f(T) and σ = f(T) for TlInS _x Se_{2 − x} crystals have been demonstrated to reveal anomalies in the form of maxima, which suggests that these crystals undergo phase transitions. The temperatures of the phase transitions increase with increasing x.
