This paper describes the reversible control of the size of liquid‐metal nanoparticles under ultrasonication. Gallium was utilized as a liquid metal, which has a melting point of 29.8 °C. Investigating the effects of ultrasonication (power, time, and temperature) on the formation of gallium nanoparticles revealed that the process is similar to the formation of oil in water (O/W) or water in oil (W/O) emulsions, as the temperature significantly affects the size of the gallium nanoparticles (GaNPs). Under ultrasonication, the balance between the break‐up and coalescence of the GaNPs can be adjusted by changing the temperature or adding acid through modulating the natural surface oxide layer (which can be removed with acid) and the stabilizing effect of the surfactant dodecanethiol. Coalescence was predominant at higher temperatures, whereas particle break‐up was found to be predominant at lower temperatures. Furthermore, the change in size was accompanied by a shift in the plasmonic absorption of the GaNPs in the UV region.  相似文献

GaAs/Al0.3Ga0.7As multi-layer structures were grown on GaAs (100) reverse-mesa etched substrates by glancing angle molecular beam epitaxy (GA-MBE). A(111)B facet was formed as a side-facet. Surface migration of Ga and Al atoms from the (100) flat region to the (111)B side-facet region has been investigated to fabricate T-shaped GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells (QWs) under the condition that Ga and Al atoms impinge only an the (100) flat region and do not impinge on the (111)B side-facet. Observation of T-shaped GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wires (QWRs) by cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed that there is no migration of Al atoms from the (100) to the (111)B facet region at a substrate temperature (Ts) as high as 630°C, under a V/III ratio of 28 (in pressure ratio). On the other hand, very thin GaAs epitaxial layers grown on the (111)B side-facet region owing to the Ga migration were observed for substrate temperatures of 600 and 630°C. It was found that the mass flow of Ga atoms from the (100) region to the (111)B side-facet region increases, with the thermal activation energy of 2.0 eV, as the substrate temperature increases from 570 to 630°C. The GA-MBE growth on a reverse-mesa etched GaAs substrate at a low temperature 570°C or lower is desirable to fabricate a nm-scale GaAs/AlGaAs QWR structure with nm-scale precision.  相似文献

Lateral profiles of In content in a 1.5 μm thick InxGa1−xAs (x 0.2) layer grown on GaAs channeled substrates (CSs) with (411)A side-slopes by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) have been investigated with the use of energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The observed profiles of the In content suggested that In atoms migrate preferentially in the [1 ] direction on the (411)A plane during MBE growth. This preferential migration of In atoms along [1 ] on the (411)A plane was confirmed by comparing observed lateral profiles of In content in InGaAs layers grown on GaAs CSs and simulated In profiles which are calculated by taking into account of an additional one-way flow of In atoms along [1 ].  相似文献

In the presence of phenylsilane and a catalytic amount of indium(III) acetate, organic iodides added to electron-deficient alkenes in ethanol at room temperature. Both simple and functionalized organic iodides were applicable to this reaction. The labeling of foods containing material derived from crustaceans such as shrimp and crab is to become mandatory in Japan because of increases in the number of allergy patients. To ensure proper labeling, 2 novel sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits for the determination of crustacean protein in processed foods, the N kit (Nissui Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd, Ibaraki, Japan) and the M kit (Maruha Nichiro Holdings, Inc., Ibaraki, Japan), have been developed. Five types of model processed foods containing 10 and/or 11.9 microg/g crustacean soluble protein were prepared for interlaboratory evaluation of the performance of these kits. The N kit displayed a relatively high level of reproducibility relative standard deviation (interlaboratory precision; 4.0-8.4% RSDR) and sufficient recovery (65-86%) for all the model processed foods. The M kit displayed sufficient reproducibility (17.6-20.5% RSDR) and a reasonably high level of recovery (82-103%). The repeatability relative standard deviation (RSDr) values regarding the detection of crustacean proteins in the 5 model foods were mostly < 5.1% RSDr for the N kit and 9.9% RSDr for the M kit. In conclusion, the results of this interlaboratory evaluation suggest that both these ELISA kits would be very useful for detecting crustacean protein in processed foods.  相似文献

The all silica DDR membrane turns out to be well suited to separate water from organic solvents under pervaporation conditions, despite its hydrophobic character. All-silica zeolites are chemically and hydrothermally more stable than aluminum containing ones and are therefore preferred for membrane applications, including for dehydration, even though these type of membranes are hydrophobic. Permeation of water, ethanol and methanol through an all-silica DDR membrane has been measured at temperatures ranging from 344 to 398 K. The hydrophobic membrane shows high water fluxes (up to 20 kg m−2 h−1). The pure water permeance is insensitive to temperature and is well described assuming weak adsorption. Excellent performance in dewatering ethanol (N=2N=2 kg m−2 h−1and αw=1500αw=1500 at 373 K and xw=0.18xw=0.18) is observed and the membrane is also able to selectively remove water from methanol (N=5N=5 kg m−2 h−1 and αw=9αw=9). Water could also be removed from methanol/ethanol/water (αwater/EtOH=1500αwater/EtOH=1500, αMeOH/EtOH=70αMeOH/EtOH=70 at 373 K) mixtures, even at water feed concentrations below 1.5 mol%.  相似文献
