Kinetics of Hydroperoxide Epoxidation of 1-Octene in the Presence of MoB2

We have studied the kinetics of the process of epoxidation of 1-octene by tert-butyl hydroperoxide in the presence of molybdenum boride MoB₂. We have studied the effect of the concentrations of starting materials and reaction products on the process. We suggest a kinetic scheme and we calculate the kinetic parameters of the process.     

Polysaccharides of Saponin-Bearing PLANTS. XII. Polysaccharides of Acantophyllum knorringianum and Their Biological Activity

The physicochemical properties and qualitative and quantitative monosaccharide composition of Acantophyllum knorringianum pectin were determined. It has been found using periodate-nitric-acid oxidation and IR spectroscopy that galacturonan is a polymer consisting of -1-4-bonded D-galacturonic acid units. The isolated polysaccharide from roots had immunostimulating activity.     

Dehydrogenation of propane on aluminoplatinum catalysts modified with Re,Zr, Sc,and Sn

The effect of addition of Re, Zr, Sc, and Sn on an aluminoplatinum catalyst in the reaction of dehydrogenation of propane was investigated. It was shown that addition of 0.2–0.5% Zr, Sc, or Re virtually does not alter the catalytic properties of the aluminoplatinum catalyst (APC); addition of 0.2% Sn increases the activity, selectivity, and stability of Pt/Al₂O₃. The amount of coke deposited on the APC after the first 5 min of work decreases by three times in the presence of Sn. Simulating the diffraction pattern in the focal plane of a lens-axicon system

Laser beam concentration into a narrow ring with a lens and axicon is considered, as there are applications in working surfaces, cutting wafers and slices, and in welding or soldering tubes to heat-exchanger plates. A model is constructed and a working formula is derived for the diffraction pattern in the focal plane of such a system when the axicon is illuminated by a plane wave. Spectrum and polarization of electrons in neutron beta-decay in an electromagnetic wave field

A study is made on a polarized neutron undergoing -decay induced by an intense electromagnetic wave. The angular distribution of electrons in the decay is obtained and their polarization is studied. Dynamic model for alpha particle emission during fission

We investigate the motion of anα-particle in the average time depencent potentialV(R _α ,t) of a fissioning nucleus. The emission process is treated quantum mechanically via a numerical solution of the one-body Schroedinger equation withV(R _α ,t). This solution yields the distribution of initial conditions for classical trajectories describing theα-particles outside the Coulomb barrier. The time and shape dependence ofV(R _α,t) is shown to have significant influence on the observable angle and energy distribution of theα-particles emitted during fission.     

Experimental determination of the branching ratiosp\bar p \to 2\pi ^0 ,\pi ^0 \gamma,and 2γ at rest

The branching ratios of \(p\bar p\) annihilations into the neutral final states 2π⁰, π⁰γ, and 2γ are measured by stopping antiprotons in liquid hydrogen. They are \(B_{2\pi ^0 } = \left( {2.06 \pm 0.14} \right) \times 10^{ - 4} \) , \(B_{\pi ^0 \gamma } = \left( {1.74 \pm 0.22} \right) \times 10^{ - 5} \) , andB _γγ<1.7×10^?6 (95% c.l.).     

Electron transport in corona charged 12 μm teflon FEP with saturable deep traps

Surface-potential measurements carried out in negatively corona charged 12 m samples of fluorethylenepropylene (Teflon FEP) showed the following characteristics: 1) with a constant charging current, the potential initially rises linearly, and then sublinearly; 2) the potential saturates irrespectively of the charging process and 3) practically no potential decay is observed after switching off the corona. These results have been interpreted in terms of an usual model (field-independent trapping time) for charge transport in insulators, with saturable deep traps in both surface and bulk of the sample and a relatively high electron mobility in order to prevent free-space charge accumulation. The partial differential equations derived from the model are numerically solved and it was found that only the product of the mobility with the trapping time is relevant to the fitting of experimental results, provided that >10^–8 cm²/Vs. A field-dependent trapping time model leads to poorer fittings.
