We present results for the spin-1 color-spin-locking (CSL) phase using a NJL-type model in two-flavor quark matter for compact stars applications. The CSL condensate is flavor symmetric and therefore charge and color neutrality can easily be satisfied. We find small energy gaps ≃ 1MeV, which make the CSL matter composition and the EoS not very different from the normal quark matter phase. We keep finite quark masses in our calculations and obtain no gapless modes that could have strong consequences in the late cooling of neutron stars. Finally, we show that the region of the phase diagram relevant for neutron star cores, when asymmetric flavor pairing is suppressed, could be covered by the CSL phase.  相似文献

The use of technical sportswear is now widespread, but the degree of protection these fabrics offer against UV radiation is not known. We have analyzed the capacity of different types of technical sportswear fabrics to protect against different UV biological effects. A sample of 34 100% polyester t-shirts from different manufactures was classified by color, fabric structure, cover factor, and due to different tonalities, dark, and clear color. Ultraviolet protection factor was calculated according to UNE-EN13758. The protection factor for other biological effects as pre-vitamin D3 production, non-melanoma skin cancer, photoimmunosuppression, and photoaging was analyzed. The effects of moisture and sweat in protection were also evaluated. From the analyzed sample garments, more than 75% achieved an excellent protection value (protection factor 40–50+). Higher values were found in double-layer type (P < 0.05). Cover factor was the main determinant of biological protection factors with correlation coefficients of 0.81 for UPF (erythema), 0.77 for NMSC, and 0.63 for photoimmunosuppression. Water or sweat humidity saturation increased biological protection factors over a 20% (P < 0.05). The 83% of the fabrics analyzed showed less than 5% of transmittance with labeling as UVA protective elements. No effect of fabric color was found related to biological protection factors. The 100% polyester sports T-shirts of the analyzed sample offer general protection against UV for different biological effects that can be increased by humidity but no affected by fabric color.  相似文献

The local values of the parameters that characterize a laser-induced plasma (temperature, electron density, relative number densities of neutral atoms and ions) have been obtained by spatially resolved emission spectroscopy, including the deconvolution of the measured intensity spectra. The plasma has been generated using a Nd:YAG laser with a Fe–Ni alloy in air at atmospheric pressure, and the emission in the time window 3.0–3.5 μs has been detected. The temperature values obtained from neutral atom and ion emissions have been compared in the cases of local and spatially-integrated measurements. Local Boltzmann and Saha–Boltzmann plots with high correlation to linear fittings have been obtained using two broad sets of optically thin neutral atom and ion lines (21 Fe I lines and 15 Fe II lines), resulting in local values of the electronic temperature that coincide within the error. These results of local measurements contrast with those of spatially integrated measurements, for which two different temperatures are obtained from the Boltzmann plots of neutral atoms (9100±150 K) and ions (13 700±300 K). This difference is explained according to the measured distributions of the electronic temperature and the neutral atom and ion number densities, that result in separated emissivity (or population) distributions of neutral atom and ion lines, leading to different neutral atom and ion apparent temperatures (population-averages of the local electronic temperature). Local values of the plasma parameters have been obtained at all the positions with significant emission, including the determination of the electronic temperature from Saha–Boltzmann or Boltzmann plots. The ionization degree is high- and low-varying at the inner part of the plasma, decaying only near the plasma front. The maximum of the ion density does not coincide with the temperature maximum; on the contrary, the axial variation of both the neutral atom and ion densities (that decrease towards the sample surface) is opposite to that of the temperature, a behaviour that is interpreted to result from the plasma expansion process.  相似文献

We study the influence of nonlocality in the interaction on two spin-one pairing patterns of two-flavor quark matter: the anisotropic blue-color pairing besides the usual two-color superconducting matter (2SCb), in which red and green colors are paired, and the color-spin locking phase (CSL). The effect of nonlocality on the gaps is rather large and the pairings exhibit a strong dependence on the form factor of the interaction, especially in the low-density region. The application of these small spin-one condensates for compact stars is analyzed: the early onset of quark matter in the nonlocal models may help to stabilize hybrid star configurations. While the anisotropic blue-quark pairing does not survive a big asymmetry in flavor space as imposed by the charge neutrality condition, the CSL phase as a flavor independent pairing can be realized as neutral matter in compact star cores. However, smooth form factors and the mismatch between the flavor chemical potential in neutral matter make the effective gaps of the order of magnitude ≃10 keV, and a more systematic analysis is needed to decide whether such small gaps could be consistent with the cooling phenomenology. Laser-induced plasmas have been characterized by emission spectroscopy, including the measurement of curves of growth. The plasmas have been generated in air at atmospheric pressure using an infrared Nd:YAG laser from a set of Fe–Ni alloys with varying Fe concentrations. The procedure used provides, in addition to the apparent temperature T and electron density Ne, a parameter Nl (the atom number density for 100% concentration times the length of the plasma along the line-of-sight), relevant to obtain the self-absorption and the intensity of the emission lines. The temporal evolution of the plasma parameters has been deduced from the measurement and fitting of the curves of growth. A fast temporal decrease of Nl is obtained for ions, whereas a gradual increase takes place for neutral atoms. The temporal evolution of the line intensity in the optically thin limit and the self-absorption of neutral atom and ion lines have been obtained experimentally and calculated from the evolution of the plasma parameters. The usefulness of the curve-of-growth method in measurements with time integration, in spite of the fast variation of the plasma parameters, has been demonstrated.  相似文献

We present a novel approach to study the sustainability of ancient Mediterranean agriculture that combines the measurement of carbon isotope discrimination (Delta(13)C) and nitrogen isotope composition (delta(15)N) along with the assessment of quality traits in fossil cereal grains. Charred grains of naked wheat and barley were recovered in Los Castillejos, an archaeological site in SE Spain, with a continuous occupation of ca. 1500 years starting soon after the origin of agriculture (ca. 4000 BCE) in the region. Crop water status and yield were estimated from Delta(13)C and soil fertility and management practices were assessed from the delta(15)N and N content of grains. The original grain weight was inferred from grain dimensions and grain N content was assessed after correcting N concentration for the effect of carbonisation. Estimated water conditions (i.e. rainfall) during crop growth remained constant for the entire period. However, the grain size and grain yield decreased progressively during the first millennium after the onset of agriculture, regardless of the species, with only a slight recovery afterwards. Minimum delta(15)N values and grain N content were also recorded in the later periods of site occupation. Our results indicate a progressive loss of soil fertility, even when the amount of precipitation remained steady, thereby indicating the unsustainable nature of early agriculture at this site in the Western Mediterranean Basin. In addition, several findings suggest that barley and wheat were cultivated separately, the former being restricted to marginal areas, coinciding with an increased focus on wheat cultivation.  相似文献

Measurements of the local electron density in laser-induced plasma have been carried out from the Stark-broadened profiles of three reference lines (Hα, Fe I and Si II). The plasma has been generated from a Fe–Si sample in air using a Nd:YAG laser. Compatible values of the local electron density have been obtained from the three lines. The experiment is based on the use of an imaging spectrometer, the capability for spatial resolution of a charge-coupled device and the application of a spatial deconvolution procedure to the spectra. Distributions of the emission coefficient have been obtained, showing that the three lines are emitted from different regions of the plasma. The implications in the apparent electron density values obtained in spatially-integrated measurements are discussed: similar values are obtained for the Hα and Si II lines, while the Fe I line leads to a 25% lower value.  相似文献
