Electrospray ionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (ESI-FTICRMS) has been used to determine the mass of a double-stranded 500 base-pair (bp) polymerase chain reaction (PCR) product with an average theoretical mass of the blunt-ended (i.e. unadenylated) species of 308 859.35 Da. The PCR product was generated from the linearized bacteriophage Lambda genome which is a double-stranded template. Utilization of ethanol precipitation in tandem with a rapid microdialysis step to purify and desalt the PCR product was crucial to obtain a precise mass measurement. The PCR product (0.8 pmol/μL) was electrosprayed from a solution containing 75% acetonitrile, 25 mM piperidine, and 25 mM imidazole and was infused at a rate of 200 nL/min. The average molecular mass and the corresponding precision were determined using the charge-states ranging from 172 to 235 net negative charges. The experimental mass and corresponding precision (reported as the 95% confidence interval of the mean) was 309 406 +/- 27 Da (87 ppm). The mass accuracy was compromised due to the fact that the PCR generates multiple products when using Taq polymerase due to the non-template directed 3'-adenylation. This results in a mixture of three PCR products with nearly identical mass (i.e. blunt-ended, mono-adenylated and di-adenylated) with unknown relative abundances that were not resolved in the spectrum. Thus, the experimental mass will be a weighted average of the three species which, under our experimental conditions, reflects a nearly equal concentration of the mono- and di-adenylated species. This report demonstrates that precise mass measurements of PCR products up to 309 kDa (500 bp) can be routinely obtained by ESI-FTICR requiring low femtomole amounts. Measurements of transverse energy flow are presented for neutral current deep-inelastic scattering events produced in positron-proton
collisions at HERA. The kinematic range covers squared momentum transfers from 3.2 to 2 200 GeV, the Bjorken scaling variable x from to 0.11 and the hadronic mass W from 66 to 233 GeV. The transverse energy flow is measured in the hadronic centre of mass frame and is studied as a function
of , x, W and pseudorapidity. A comparison is made with QCD-based models. The behaviour of the mean transverse energy in the central
pseudorapidity region and an interval corresponding to the photon fragmentation region are analysed as a function of and W.

The triple-differential dijet cross-section, , is measured with the H1 detector at HERA as a function of the photon virtuality , the fraction of the photon's momentum carried by the parton entering the hard scattering, , and the square of the mean transverse energy, , of the two highest jets. Jets are found using a longitudinal boost-invariant clustering algorithm in the center of mass frame. The measurements cover the ranges GeV in virtuality and in inelasticity y. The results are well described by leading order QCD models which include the effects of a resolved component to the virtual
photon. Models which treat the photon as point-like fail to describe the data. An effective leading order parton density for
the virtual photon is extracted as a function of the photon virtuality, the probing scale and the parton momentum fraction.
The and probing scale dependences of the parton density show characteristic features of photon structure, and a suppression of
this structure with increasing is seen.

A search for squarks in R-parity violating supersymmetry is performed in collisions at HERA at a centre of mass energy of 300 GeV, using H1 data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 37 pb. The direct production of single squarks of any generation in positron-quark fusion via a Yukawa coupling is considered, taking into account R-parity violating and conserving decays of the squarks. No significant deviation from the Standard Model expectation is found.
The results are interpreted in terms of constraints within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), the constrained
MSSM and the minimal Supergravity model, and their sensitivity to the model parameters is studied in detail. For a Yukawa
coupling of electromagnetic strength, squark masses below 260 GeV are excluded at 95% confidence level in a large part of
the parameter space. For a 100 times smaller coupling strength masses up to 182 GeV are excluded.

The Qβ-values of99Rb,99,100Sr and100Y have been measured for the first time at the mass separator OSTIS of the ILL; for99Y,99,100Zr and100Nb, the results of earlier experiments were confirmed with reduced experimental errors. The two-neutron binding energies derived from the experimental Qβ-values clearly indicate that the nuclei100Sr and100Y are strongly deformed. 相似文献

Extended targets were irradiated for transmutation studies with relativistic heavy ions. For this, a metal core was surrounded by a paraffin moderator. The metal is either copper or lead and it was irradiated with deuterium, alpha, or carbon beams of 1.5 or 3.7 GeV/u at the SYNCHROPHASOTRON, LHE, JINR, Dubna, Russia. During this irradiation copious amounts of secondary neutrons are produced and studied with SSNTD detectors and radiochemical sensors, for example 139La (n, γ) 140La→β−. The yield of reaction products allows an estimation of secondary neutron fluxes. The yields of all kinds of reactions produced with deuterium and alpha beams obey to some extent the law of “limiting fragmentation”, i.e. they show little influence on the energy and the kind of incoming particles. However, one observes with 44 GeV 12C ions always enhanced nuclear cross-sections induced by secondary particles. This behavior could not be confirmed with theoretical estimations based on the Dubna Cascade Model in its Cascade Evaporation Model version (DCM-CEM). Finally, some results for transmutation studies on 127I and Cu will be presented. 相似文献
