We used two-dimensional infrared spectroscopy to disentangle the broad infrared band in the amide II vibrational regions of Bombyx mori native silk films, identifying the single amide II modes and correlating them to specific secondary structure. Amide I and amide II modes have a strong vibrational coupling, which manifests as cross-peaks in 2D infrared spectra with frequencies determined by both the amide I and amide II frequencies of the same secondary structure. By cross referencing with well-known amide I assignments, we determined that the amide II (N-H) absorbs at around 1552 and at 1530 cm–1 for helical and β-sheet structures, respectively. We also observed a peak at 1517 cm−1 that could not be easily assigned to an amide II mode, and instead we tentatively assigned it to a Tyrosine sidechain. These results stand in contrast with previous findings from linear infrared spectroscopy, highlighting the ability of multidimensional spectroscopy for untangling convoluted spectra, and suggesting the need for caution when assigning silk amide II spectra.  相似文献

In this study, natural Algerian kaolin was used as a support and impregnated with nickel at different loading amounts (2 wt.%, 5 wt.%, and 7 wt.%) in order to prepare a supported catalyst. The wet impregnation technique was used in this preparation; nickel oxide (NiO) was the active phase precursor of the catalyst, and the catalysts were designated as follows: 2%, 5%, and 7% Ni/kaolin. These catalysts were put to the test in catalytic wet peroxide oxidation (CWPO) for degrading the organic contaminant malachite green dye (MG). Analytical techniques such as FTIR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, BET, and X-fluorescence were used to examine the structure, morphology, and chemical composition of the support and the produced catalysts. Several parameters, including temperature, catalytic dose, metal loading, hydrogen peroxide volume, and kinetic model were systematically investigated. The combination of improved parameters resulted in a significant increase in the catalytic activity, achieving a high removal rate of MG dye of 98.87%.  相似文献

Strongly-coupled multichromophoric assemblies orchestrate the absorption, transport, and conversion of photonic energy in natural and synthetic systems. Programming these functionalities involves the production of materials in which chromophore placement is precisely controlled. DNA nanomaterials have emerged as a programmable scaffold that introduces the control necessary to select desired excitonic properties. While the ability to control photophysical processes, such as energy transport, has been established, similar control over photochemical processes, such as interchromophore charge transfer, has not been demonstrated in DNA. In particular, charge transfer requires the presence of close-range interchromophoric interactions, which have a particularly steep distance dependence, but are required for eventual energy conversion. Here, we report a DNA-chromophore platform in which long-range excitonic couplings and short-range charge-transfer couplings can be tailored. Using combinatorial screening, we discovered chromophore geometries that enhance or suppress photochemistry. We combined spectroscopic and computational results to establish the presence of symmetry-breaking charge transfer in DNA-scaffolded squaraines, which had not been previously achieved in these chromophores. Our results demonstrate that the geometric control introduced through the DNA can access otherwise inaccessible processes and program the evolution of excitonic states of molecular chromophores, opening up opportunities for designer photoactive materials for light harvesting and computation.

DNA scaffolds enable the activation and suppression of photochemistry between strongly-coupled synthetic chromophores.  相似文献

Hyperfluorescence (HF), a relatively new phenomenon utilizing the transfer of excitons between two luminophores, requires careful pairwise tuning of molecular energy levels and is proposed to be the crucial step towards the development of new, highly effective OLED systems. To date, barely few HF yellow emitters with desired narrowband emission but moderate external quantum efficiency (EQE < 20%) have been reported. This is because a systematic strategy embracing both Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) and triplet to singlet (TTS) transition as complementary mechanisms for effective exciton transfer has not yet been proposed. Herein, we present a rational approach, which allows, through subtle structural modification, a pair of compounds built from the same donor and acceptor subunits, but with varied communication between these ambipolar fragments, to be obtained. The TADF-active dopant is based on a naphthalimide scaffold linked to the nitrogen of a carbazole moiety, which through the introduction of an additional bond leads not only to π-cloud enlargement, but also rigidifies and inhibits the rotation of the donor. This structural change prevents TADF, and guides bandgaps and excited state energies to simultaneously pursue FRET and TTS processes. New OLED devices utilizing the presented emitters show excellent external quantum efficiency (up to 27%) and a narrow full width at half maximum (40 nm), which is a consequence of very good alignment of energy levels. The presented design principles prove that only a minor structural modification is needed to obtain commercially applicable dyes for HF OLED devices.

The rigidification with simultaneous π-extension of TADF-active dye leads to fluorescent dopant with fine-tuned energy levels. These used as hyperfluorescent OLED device shows extraordinary EQE and brightness due to effective FRET and TTS processes.  相似文献

In this study, three oil-in-water nanoemulsions were tested in two stages: In the first stage, three levels (on the substrate dry matter (DM)), namely 3%, 6%, and 9%, of three different oils, olive oil (OO), corn oil (CO), and linseed oil (LO), in raw and nanoemulsified (N) forms were used separately in three consecutive rumen batch cultures trials. The second stage, which was based on the first stage’s results, consisted of a batch culture trial that compared the raw and nanoemulsified (N) forms of all three oils together, provided at 3% of the DM. In the first stage, NOO, NCO, and NLO preserved higher unsaturated fatty acid (UFA) and less saturated fatty acid (SFA) compared to OO, CO, and LO, respectively; noticeably, NCO had UFA:SFA = 1.01, 1.16, and 1.34 compared to CO, which had UFA:SFA = 0.66, 0.69, and 0.72 when supplemented at 3%, 6%, 9% of DM, respectively. In the second stage, UFA:SFA = 1.04, 1.12, and 1.07 for NOO, NCO, NLO, as compared to UFA:SFA = 0.69, 0.68, and 0.72 for OO, CO, and LO supplemented at 3% of DM. In conclusion, oil-in-water nanoemulsions showed an ability to decrease the transformation of UFA to SFA in the biohydrogenation environment without affecting the rumen microorganisms.  相似文献

Simple RZnOR’ alkoxides are among the first known organozinc compounds, and widespread interest in their multifaced chemistry has been driven by their fundamental significance and potential applications including various catalytic reactions. Nevertheless, their chemistry in solution and in the solid state remains both relatively poorly understood and a subject of constant debate. Herein, the synthesis and structural characterization of long-sought structural forms, a roof-like trimer [(tBuZn)3(μ-OC(H)Ph2)23-OC(H)Ph2)] and a ladder-type tetramer [(PhZn)4(μ-OC(H)Ph2)23-OC(H)Ph2)2], incorporating diphenylmethanolate as a model alkoxide ligand, are reported. Both novel aggregates are robust in the solid state and resistant towards mechanical force. By using 1H NMR and diffusion-order spectroscopy, it is demonstrated that new RZnOR’ alkoxides are kinetically labile in solution and readily undergo ligand scrambling, such as in the case of Schlenk equilibrium. The elucidated key structural issues, which have remained undiscovered for decades, significantly advance the chemistry of RZnOR’ alkoxides and should support the rational design of zinc alkoxide-based applications.  相似文献
