An amplitude analysis of an exclusive sample of 5765 events from the reaction pi- p-->eta'pi- p at 18 GeV/c is described. The eta'pi- production is dominated by natural parity exchange and by three partial waves: those with J(PC) = 1(-+), 2(++), and 4(++). A mass-dependent analysis of the partial-wave amplitudes indicates the production of the a2(1320) meson as well as the a4(2040) meson, observed for the first time decaying to eta'pi-. The dominant, exotic (non- qq) 1(-+) partial wave is shown to be resonant with a mass of 1.597+/-0.010(+0.045)(-0.010) GeV/c2 and a width of 0.340+/-0.040+/-0.050 GeV/c2. This exotic state, the pi1(1600), is produced with a t dependence which is different from that of the a2(1320) meson, indicating differences between the production mechanisms for the two states. 相似文献

Measurements of the electric and magnetic form factors of the nucleon present a sensitive test of nucleon models and QCD-inspired
theories. A precise knowledge of the neutron form factors at low Q2 is also essential to reduce the systematic errors of parity violation experiments. At the MIT-Bates Linear Accelerator Center,
the nucleon form factors have been measured by means of scattering of polarized electrons from vector-polarized hydrogen and
deuterium. The experiment used the longitudinally polarized stored electron beam of the MIT-Bates South Hall Ring along with
an isotopically pure, highly vector-polarized internal atomic hydrogen and deuterium target provided by an atomic beam source.
The measurements have been carried out with the symmetric Bates Large Acceptance Spectrometer Toroid (BLAST) with enhanced

The ATLAS experiment sensitivity to top quark flavour changing neutral current (FCNC) decays was studied at LHC using tt̄
events. While one of the top quarks is expected to follow the dominant Standard Model decay t→bW, the other decays through
a FCNC channel, i.e. t→Zu(c), t→γu(c) or t→gu(c). Different types of analyses, applied to each FCNC decay mode, were compared.
The FCNC branching ratio sensitivity (assuming a 5σ signal significance) and 95% confidence level limits on the branching

The High-Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) observatory is a large field of view, continuously operated, TeV γ-ray experiment under construction at 4,100 m a.s.l. in Mexico. The HAWC observatory will have an order of magnitude better sensitivity, angular resolution, and background rejection than its predecessor, the Milagro experiment. The improved performance will allow us to detect both the transient and steady emissions, to study the Galactic diffuse emission at TeV energies, and to measure or constrain the TeV spectra of GeV γ-ray sources. In addition, HAWC will be the only ground-based instrument capable of detecting prompt emission from γ-ray bursts above 50 GeV. The HAWC observatory will consist of an array of 300 water Cherenkov detectors (WCDs), each with four photomultiplier tubes. This array is currently under construction on the flanks of the Sierra Negra volcano near the city of Puebla, Mexico. The first 30 WCDs (forming an array approximately the size of Milagro) were deployed in Summer 2012, and 100 WCDs will be taking data by May, 2013. We present in this paper the motivation for constructing the HAWC observatory, the status of the deployment, and the first results from the constantly growing array. 相似文献

We report results of a search for light (?10 GeV) particle dark matter with the XENON10 detector. The event trigger was sensitive to a single electron, with the analysis threshold of 5 electrons corresponding to 1.4 keV nuclear recoil energy. Considering spin-independent dark matter-nucleon scattering, we exclude cross sections σ(n)>7×10(-42) cm(2), for a dark matter particle mass m(χ)=7 GeV. We find that our data strongly constrain recent elastic dark matter interpretations of excess low-energy events observed by CoGeNT and CRESST-II, as well as the DAMA annual modulation signal. 相似文献

The flavor-singlet H dibaryon, which has strangeness -2 and baryon number 2, is studied by the approach recently developed for the baryon-baryon interactions in lattice QCD. The flavor-singlet central potential is derived from the spatial and imaginary-time dependence of the Nambu-Bethe-Salpeter wave function measured in N(f)=3 full QCD simulations with the lattice size of L?2,3,4 fm. The potential is found to be insensitive to the volume, and it leads to a bound H dibaryon with the binding energy of 30-40 MeV for the pseudoscalar meson mass of 673-1015 MeV. 相似文献

The TWIST Collaboration has completed a new measurement of the energy-angle spectrum of positrons from the decay of highly polarized muons. A simultaneous measurement of the muon decay parameters ρ, δ, and P(μ)(π)ξ tests the standard model in a purely leptonic process and provides improved limits for relevant extensions to the standard model. We report on the first dark-matter (DM) search results from PandaX-I, a low threshold dual-phase xenon experiment operating at the China JinPing Underground Laboratory. In the 37-kg liquid xenon target with 17.4 live-days of exposure, no DM particle candidate event was found. This result sets a stringent limit for low-mass DM particles and disfavors the interpretation of previously-reported positive experimental results. The minimum upper limit, 3.7 × 10?44 cm2, for the spin-independent isoscalar DM-particle-nucleon scattering cross section is obtained at a DM-particle mass of 49GeV/c2 at 90% confidence level. 相似文献

Jets are collimated sprays of particles originating from fragmentation of high energy partons produced in a hard collision. They are an important diagnostic tool in studies of the Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP). The modification of the jet fragmentation pattern and its structure is a signature for the influence of hot and dense matter on the parton fragmentation process. Jet measurements in proton-proton collisions provide a baseline for similar measurements in heavy-ion collisions, while studies in proton-nucleus system allow to estimate cold nuclear matter effects. Here we present jet studies in different colliding systems (p–p, p–Pb, Pb–Pb) performed by the ALICE collaboration at LHC energies. Results on jet spectra, cross sections, nuclear modification factors, jet structure and other kinematic observables will be presented. 相似文献

We present a preliminary measurement of the B(D_s→μν_μ)with the Belle experiment at the KEKB collider.We select D~s→μV_μdecays with a method that provides a high-purity of the selected sample and an absolute measurement of the branching fraction.The results are based on a data sample of 550 fb~(-1)and are compared to similar measurements by other experiments as well as to the predictions of LQCD.We conclude with short prospects for improvements in the accuracy of the measurement. 相似文献
