We study single and double inclusive diffractive production in a 32 GeV/c K + p experiment in MIRABELLE at the Serpukhov accelerator. From reactionsK + p→K ++X + andK + p→X ++p we determine the total proton and kaon single diffractive dissociation cross sections \(\sigma (p\xrightarrow{{K^ + }}p_D ) = 0.90 \pm 0.12 mb\) and \(\sigma (K^ + \xrightarrow{p}K_D^ + ) = 0\) . 90±0.17 mb, respectively. In either case the only notable contributions come from dissociations into 1 and 3 charged particles. Kaon dissociation exhibits a pronounced slope-mass correlation. The search for double diffractive production in reactionsK + p→(K +π?π+)+X + andK + p→(pπ + π ?)+X + leads in either case to an estimated total double diffractive cross section σ(K +p→K D + pD) of ?220 μb. The double dissociation differential cross section exhibits a large slope of ?10GeV?2 in the nearthreshold mass region, rapidly decreasing to ?4 GeV?2 with increasing excitation mass. At our c.m. energy \((\sqrt s \simeq 8 GeV)\) the ratio σinel dif/σel is 0.85±0.10, the total diffractive cross section σdif≡σel+σinel dif=4.41±0.24 mb and the fraction σdif(K + p)/σtot(K + p) is 25±2%. TheK + andK ? diffractive excitation mass spectra, differential cross sections and total diffractive cross sections are very similar for both single and double dissociations. 相似文献

The isoscalar nucleon structure functionsF 2(x, Q 2) andxF 3(x, Q 2) are measured in the range 0<Q 2<64 GeV2, 1.7<W 2<250 GeV2,x<0.7 using ν and \(\bar v\) interactions on neon in BEBC. The data are used to evaluate possible higher twist contributions and to determine their impact on the evaluation of the QCD parameter Λ. In contrast to previous analyses reaching to such lowW 2 values, it is found that a low \(\Lambda _{\overline {MS} } \) value in the neighbourhood of 100 MeV describes the data adequately and that the contribution of dynamical higher twist effects is small and negative. 相似文献

We report on a search for a phase transition from ordinary nuclear matter to a state of deconfined quarks and gluons as predicted by lattice QCD calculations. A new measurement of charmonium production in Pb-Pb interactions at 158 GeV/c per nucleon agrees with our previous results and confirms the anomalous J/ψ suppression we had already observed on a significantly smaller data sample. New event selection and analysis techniques show that, for peripheral collisions, the J/ψ cross-section per nucleon-nucleon collision agrees with the precise suppression pattern inferred from a wide range of measurements extending from p-p up to S-U collisions. As the collisions become more central, the Pb-Pb cross-section exhibits a clear departure from this normal behaviour. The onset of the anomalous J/ψ suppression reported here is the first clear observation of a threshold effect in heavy ion collisions and can be considered as a strong indication of the production of a deconfined quark-gluon phase in central Pb-Pb collisions. 相似文献

The rationR=σ(e + e ?→hadrons)/σ(e + e ?→ µ+ µ?) was measured with the LENA detector at DORIS in a scan between 7.40 and 7.48 GeV and between 8.67 and 9.43 GeV center of mass energies. Corrected for QED radiative effects,R is found to be constant with an average value ofR=3.37 ±0.06stat±0.23syst. No narrow resonances withΓ ee (Γ had/Γ tot)?0.30 keV (95% C.L.) and no steps have been observed. Based on this value ofR, revised values for υ(1S) resonance parameters are presented. 相似文献

Two particle correlations of hadrons produced in 360 GeV/cpp interactions are investigated in the transverse plane and in rapidity. The data were obtained at the European hybrid spectrometer equipped with a rapid cycling bubble chamber. The observed transverse and rapidity correlations are compared with the one string LUND-and a two string dual parton-model. These models predict in general stronger correlations in the transverse plane and much weaker correlations in rapidity than found in the data. The LUND-FRITIOF-and multichain dual parton models provide a better reproduction of the data, although the agreement is not yet satisfactory. Only the UA5 cluster model GENCL shows agreement with the data. 相似文献
