Mass attenuation coefficients (μ/ρ) for Zr, Nb, Mo and Pd elements around their K-edges are measured at 14 energies in the range 15.744–28.564 keV using secondary excitation from thin Zr, Nb, Mo, Rh, Pd,
Cd and Sn foils. The measurements were carried out at the K
α
and K
β
energy values of the target elements by two techniques: (1) Proton-induced X-ray emission (PIXE) and (2) 241Am (300 mCi) source. In PIXE, 2 MeV proton-excited X-rays were detected by a Si(Li) detector. In the second case, X-rays excited
by 59.54 keV photons from the targets were counted by an HPGe detector under a narrow beam good geometry set-up with sufficient
shielding. The results are consistent with theoretical values derived from the XCOM package and indicate that the PIXE data

Undoped and doped ZnO with 1 at.% (atomic percentage) chromium (Cr) was synthesized by RF reactive co-sputtering for oxygen gas sensing applications. The prepared films showed a highly c-oriented phase with a dominant (0 0 2) peak at a Bragg angle of around 34.2°. The operating temperature of the prepared ZnO sensor was around 350 °C and shifted to around 250 °C for the doped ZnO sensor which is lower than that of previously reported work. The sensitivity of the sensor toward oxygen gas was enhanced by doping ZnO with 1 at.% Cr. Good stability and repeatability of the sensor were demonstrated when tested under different concentration of oxygen atmosphere. 相似文献

Variable chain length di-urethane cross-linked poly(oxyethylene) (POE)/siloxane hybrid networks were prepared by application
of a sol-gel strategy. These materials, designated as di-urethanesils (represented as d-Ut(Y′), where Y′ indicates the average
molecular weight of the polymer segment), were doped with lithium triflate (LiCF3SO3). The two host hybrid matrices used, d-Ut(300) and d-Ut(600), incorporate POE chains with approximately 6 and 13 (OCH2CH2) repeat units, respectively. All the samples studied, with compositions ∞ > n ≥ 1 (where n is the molar ratio of (OCH2CH2) repeat units per Li+), are entirely amorphous. The di-urethanesils are thermally stable up to at least 200 °C. At room temperature the conductivity
maxima of the d-Ut(300)- and d-Ut(600)-based di-urethanesil families are located at n = 1 (approximately 2.0 × 10−6 and 7.4 × 10−5 Scm−1, respectively). At about 100 °C, both these samples also exhibit the highest conductivity of the two electrolyte systems

Removal of methylene blue (MB) via adsorption and photocatalysis using titanate nanotubes (TNTs) with different surface areas were investigated and compared to commercial titanium dioxide (TiO2) P25 Degussa nanoparticles. The TNTs with surface area ranging from 20 m2/g to 200 m2/g were synthesized via hydrothermal method with different reaction times. TEM imaging confirmed the tubular structure of TNT while XRD spectra indicated all TNTs exhibited anatase crystallinity. Batch adsorption rate showed linearity with surface properties of TNTs, where materials with higher surface area showed higher adsorption rate. The highest MB adsorption (70%) was achieved by TNT24 in 60 min whereas commercial TiO2 exhibited the lowest adsorption of only 10% after 240 min. Adsorption isotherm studies indicated that adsorption using TNT is better fitted into Langmuir adsorption isotherm than Freundlich isotherm model. Furthermore, TNT24 was able to perform up to 90% removal of MB within 120 min, demonstrating performance that is 2-fold better compared to commercial TiO2. The high surface area and surface Bronsted acidity are the main reasons for the improvement in MB removal performance exhibited by TNT24. The improvement in surface acidity enhanced the adsorption properties of all the nanotubes prepared in this study. 相似文献

This paper reports on our study of the pH effect of solutions on the average hydrodynamic diameter (dav) of the particles of the disperse phase and the electrokinetic potential (ζ) of the particles of low-soluble iron subgroup metals compounds using Fe(II, III), Ni(II), and Co(II) compounds as an example. The pH effect of solutions on the efficiency of the electroflotation extraction of metal ions from aqueous solutions containing these ions in individual form or in mixture was studied. The efficiency of the electroflotation extraction of the low-soluble compounds of iron subgroup metals is directly related to the particle size and electrokinetic potential of the particles, which depend on рН. The maximum degree of particle extraction α reached 97–99% at рН values characterized by the maximum hydrodynamic diameter of particles (over 20 μm for Fe(II) and Co(II) compounds and over 50 μm for Fe(III) and Ni(II) compounds) at ζ potentials of up to–10 mV for systems approximated to real wastewater. In the case of the extraction of the disperse phase of the Fe(III)–Ni(II)–Co(II) multicomponent system, the synergic effect was observed: the coextraction of metals was more complete and effective, which may be due to suppressed negative charge. In the range of рН 10–11, the degree of extraction of the Fe(III) disperse phase did not exceed 74%; in the ternary system, it reached 94%. 相似文献

Nanosized titanium dioxide (TiO2) powder was prepared by a laser-induced pyrolysis. Specific surface area of the as-grown powder measured by BET method was
109 m2/g. The grain size (14.5 nm) estimated from these data coincides well with the crystallite size (12.3 nm) determined by XRD
measurements. The average grain size (∼35 nm) obtained from the subsequent SEM measurements refers to considerable agglomeration
of nanoparticles. Raman spectroscopy has been used to investigate the structural properties of TiO2 nanopowder and its anatase structure is confirmed. The blueshift and broadening of the lowest frequency Eg Raman mode at temperature range ∼25–550 K have been analyzed using a phonon-confinement model. Dominant influence of the
strong anharmonic effect at higher temperatures was demonstrated.

Dielectric properties of silver/SiO2 nanocomposite thin films grown by high-pressure d.c. sputtering technique were studied by spectroscopic ellipsometry (300-800 nm). The dielectric behavior of the nanocomposite thin films largely depended on the particle size, its number density and the surrounding environments. The films showed semiconductor-like behavior up to a critical particle size and concentration, beyond which the films exhibited the typical surface plasmon resonance characteristics in their optical properties. The refractive index was also found to have a strong dependence on the particle size and its dispersion in the matrix. The results were found to be consistent with those obtained from UV-VIS optical absorbance data. We theoretically investigate photo-thermoelectric transport through a quantum wire in a photon cavity coupled to electron reservoirs with different temperatures. Our approach, based on a quantum master equation, allows us to investigate the influence of a quantized photon field on the heat current and thermoelectric transport in the system. We find that the heat current through the quantum wire is influenced by the photon field resulting in a negative heat current in certain cases. The characteristics of the transport are studied by tuning the ratio, , between the photon energy, , and the thermal energy, . The thermoelectric transport is enhanced by the cavity photons when . By contrast, if , the photon field is dominant and a suppression in the thermoelectric transport can be found in the case when the cavity-photon field is close to a resonance with the two lowest one-electron states in the system. This article explores Darcy–Forchheimer 3D flow of water-based carbon nanomaterial (CNTs). A bi-directional linear stretchable surface has been used to create the flow. Flow in porous space is represented by Darcy–Forchheimer expression. Heat transfer mechanism is explored through convective heating. Results for single-wall (SWCNTs) and multi-wall (MWCNTs) carbon nanotubes have been presented and compared. The reduction of partial differential system into nonlinear ordinary differential system is made through suitable variables. Optimal homotopic scheme is used for solutions development of governing flow problem. Optimal homotopic solution expressions for velocities and temperature are studied through graphs by considering various estimations of physical variables. Skin friction coefficients and local Nusselt number are analyzed through plots. Our findings show that the skin friction coefficients and local Nusselt number are enhanced for larger values of nanoparticles volume fraction. 相似文献

Stark hole-burning spectroscopy is used to investigate the effective dipole moment change of cresylviolet perchlorate (CVP) in various glass and polymer hosts such as ethanol:methanol (EM), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), poly (2-hydroxyethyl) methacrylate (PHEMA), polyvinylbutyral (PVB), and formamide. The strong correlation between effective dipole moment change of the guest molecule and the holeburning efficiencies of the host matrices illustrates the sensitivity of the dipole moment change as a direct measure of guest-host interactions. Hole-burning is found to be more efficient as the dipole induced reaction field increases. This relationship is discussed in terms of the unusual hole-burning mechanism suggested for this molecule. The effective dipole moment change of cresylviolet perchlorate ranges from 0.14 to 0.59 Debye. 相似文献
