Phendione in the Synthesis of Annelated Derivatives of 4,7-Phenanthroline

By condensation of 5-phenyl-1,3-cyclohexanedione with 6-quinolylamine and aldehydes of aromatic, heterocyclic, and cyclohexene series new 12-aryl(heteryl, cyclohexenyl)-9-phenyl-8,9,10,12-tetrahydro-7H-benzo[b][4,7]phenanthrolin-11-ones were prepared. Peroxyacetylenic Derivatives of Menthol

Peroxyacetylenic menthol derivatives were synthesized by reaction of l-menthone with lithium 3-(tert-alkyldioxy)-3-methyl-1-butynides and were converted into the corresponding acetates by treatment with acetic anhydride. The thermal stability of the products was estimated by derivatography and quantum-chemical calculations.     

Antineutrino-deuteron experiment at the Krasnoyarsk reactor

The investigation of antineutrino interaction with matter at the Krasnoyarsk reactor is described. The characteristics of the “Deuteron” detector, the results obtained, and prospects are discussed.     

Special Features of Behavior of Phenomenological Parameters of Thermoelastic Martensitic Transformations in Low-Stability Alloys Based on Titanium Nickelide

The paper presents the results of an analysis of the data on phase and atomic composition changes in the austenite and martensite phases obtained by an in situ x-ray diffraction examination of thermoelastic martensite transitions in the alloys based on titanium nickelide doped with different elements (Fe, Co, Rh, Cu, Pd, Pt, and Au). To this end, the parameters determining the martensitic transformation hysteresis loops were obtained. These were then classified using the x-ray diffraction and phenomenological data.     

Optical vidicon based on a layered semiconductor structure: Image reading and storage

A simple device for image scanning and storage based on a semiconductor structure is proposed. The scanning and storage involve laser-beam reading. A video signal is represented by the photoelectromotive force generated by the structure. Simple experiments demonstrating that the structure proposed works as a vidicon and a storage device capable of the data storage for at least two hours are presented. A physical interpretation of the effects observed is proposed.     

Convex Hulls of f- and β-Vectors

In this paper we describe the convex hulls of the sets of f- and β-vectors of different classes of simplicial complexes on n vertices. These include flag complexes, order complexes of posets, matroid complexes, and general abstract simplicial complexes. As a result of this investigation, standard linear programming problems on these sets can be solved, including maximization of the Euler characteristics or of the sum of the Betti numbers. Influence of an unfavourable pressure gradient on the breakdown of boundary layer streaks

Breakdown of boundary layer streaks is studied experimentally and compared at zero and adverse (positive) streamwise pressure gradients on a wing under fully controlled experimental conditions. The varicose mode of streak breakdown is found to be a dominant mode in the case of the adverse pressure gradient. A strong influence of pressure gradient upon the development of the streak and the secondary instability is revealed. The unfavourable pressure gradient is shown to alter the critical streak amplitude, the dispersion properties of the streak and the secondary disturbance, as well as attained maximum amplitudes for both the streak and the secondary disturbance.
