Catalytic synthesis of fluoro-derivatives of 2, 4-diphenyl-5, 6-benzoquinoline

A study is made of the condensation of fluorine-containing azomethines with mixed aliphatic aromatic ketones containing fluorine as a substituent, and it is used as a basis for synthesizing 10 new fluoro-derivatives of 2, 4-diphenyl-5, 6-benzoquinolines.     

The starting stress for dislocations in a superlattice

The forces on superdislocations due to the state of the antiphase boundaries (APB) are examined as functions of temperature and concentration on the basis of a previously expounded theory of component concentrations and degree of order at APB in superlattices of CsCl type. Forces due to loss of position correlation in the glide plane are also examined. It is considered that the yield points of superlattices as functions of concentration may be explained by these mechanisms.     

Sintering in Cu-Al powders

Various methods of examination have been applied to Cu-Al alloys (10 at. % Al) during sintering over a wide temperature range. The density change is found to result from balance between shrinkage and volume growth.     

Preparative synthesis of functionally substituted esters of dehydroabietic and 4,4′-biphenyldicarboxylic acids

A preparative synthesis of functionally substituted esters of dehydroabietic and 4,4-biphenylcarboxylic acids by the reaction of chlorides of these acids with alcohols in the presence of pyridine is developed. 4,4-Biphenyldicarbonyl dichloride reacts with hydroperoxides to form peroxy esters and with lithium alcoholates, which allows preparation of the corresponding ethers derived from secondary and tertiary alcohols.Translated from Zhurnal Obshchei Khimii, Vol. 74, No. 8, 2004, pp. 1360–1364.Original Russian Text Copyright © 2004 by Dikusar, Yuvchenko, Kozlov, Olkhovik, Potkin.This revised version was published online in April 2005 with a corrected cover date.
