Diagnostics of nanodisperse polycrystals based on the polarization bremsstrahlung of relativistic electrons

The spectra of polarization bremsstrahlung are measured in the backscattering geometry during the interaction of 7-MeV electrons with a polycrystalline Ni foil. Measurement is conducted under conditions such that the size of the region of coherent X-ray radiation scattering in a target is on the order of 10 nm. The obtained results make it possible to suggest that using polarization bremsstrahlung as a new method for the diagnostics of the atomic structures of nanodisperse polycrystals is effective.     

Test of bell’s inequality using the one-atom micromaser

We examine a local realist bound in the case of a one-atom micromaser. It is shown that such a bound is violated using a simplified treatment of the micromaser. We consider the effect of dissipation in a proposed experiment with the real micromaser. It is seen that the magnitude of violation of a Bell-type inequality depends significantly on the cavity parameters.

Evolution of the characteristics of Parametric X-ray Radiation from textured polycrystals under different observation angles

The Parametric X-Ray radiation (PXR) spectra and yield dependencies on the orientation angle are measured during the interaction of 7 MeV electrons with a tungsten textured polycrystalline foil for different observation angles. The effects of PXR spectral density increase and PXR yield orientation dependence broadening in the backward direction is shown experimentally for the first time. The experimental results are compared with PXR kinematical theories for both mosaic crystals and polycrystals.     

Modification of the EDXD method for diagnostics of polycrystalline and fine-grained media

The possibilities of using broadband X rays for diagnostics of the atomic structure of solids are considered. It is proposed to use virtual photons of the Coulomb field of a relativistic electron beam as primary probe radiation.     

Investigation of contactless electron transmission through dielectric channels

The effect of the contactless transmission (guiding) of 10 keV electrons through cylindrical dielectric channels and planar channels formed by glass plates is studied. The capture and propagation of an electron beam along the channel axis, usual in these cases, are observed in the experiments with two plates. The deviation of the reflection angle from the specular angle and its dependence on the plate length and beamcurrent value under beam reflection from a single plate are investigated.     

Defining the distribution function of mosaic crystal grains on orientation angles using synchrotron radiation

A new method of measuring the angular distribution function of grains in mosaic crystals is proposed and studied.     

Investigation into the mechanisms of X-ray generation during the interaction between relativistic electrons and a medium by means of the Röntgen-1 setup

The Röntgen-1 setup which is intended for use in investigating the spectral-angular characteristics of X-rays generated due to the interaction between a 7-MeV electron beam and substances, including different shaped surfaces, is described. The setup is distinguished by a low radiation background, enabling the determination of low-intensity radiation spectra. The results of measuring the characteristics of the polarized bremsstrahlung of relativistic electrons from media with different atomic structures are presented.     

Parametric X-ray radiation from powders

Parametric X-ray Radiation (PXR) produced in powders has been observed for the first time. PXR spectra were measured under observation angles of 150° and 180° during the interaction of relativistic 7 MeV electrons with a tungsten powder. All the PXR peaks that theoretically can be produced in the studied energy region were registered. The performed absolute comparison of the experiment with the PXR kinematical theory from randomly oriented crystallites showed a good accordance.
