Experimental study and mathematical modelling of heat transfer processes in heat accumulating media

Experimental results on reversing non-stationary heat transfer are presented for filtration of an air flow through an immobile heat accumulating medium consisting of lead (D = 2.0, 3.5, and 4.5 mm) and glass (D = 3.2 mm) balls. The studied device imitated the cyclic modes of heat regeneration in the ventilation system for domestic and office rooms. Dependency between the time of flow switching and Re number was measured. The mathematical model describing heat transfer between a gas flow and an immobile layer of balls was developed. Good correspondence between the experimental data and calculation results is observed for high Reynolds numbers. For low Re numbers the effect of heat losses is considerable, and experimental time of flow switching is shorter than the calculation one. Measurement of the νμN total cross section at 2–30 GeV in a skat neutrino experiment

Data on the measurement of the v_μN total cross section at 2–30 GeV are presented. The observed behavior does not contradict a linear dependence on neutrino energy with slope S=0.73 ± 0.08.     

Observation of superstructure formation on Rh{001} by laser-pulse assisted field evaporation

Pulsed-laser assisted field evaporation of the Rh{001} plane produces a p(2 × 2) structure. This structure can be destroyed by pulsed-laser heating the surface in the absence of an applied field, and can be restored to near perfection if the pulsed-laser heating is done in an applied field of 3 to 4 $\text{V}\text{A}\text{?}$. The degree of order increases with the applied electric field. The observed p(2 × 2) surface is therefore a field stabilized structure.     

Topological groups

The paper deals with the investigations in the theory of topological groups from 1965 to 1980. The fundamental sections are: group topologies, morphisms, commutativity and its generalizations, finiteness and discreteness conditions for subgroups of locally compact groups, manifolds.
