In the under developed countries, the people of far-flung rural areas still depend to a large extent upon herbal medicines. At the foundation of usage of herbal medicine is the experience of thousands of years. The present paper deals with the characterisation of exotic fruits for essential and toxic elements. The samples include Morus nigra, Morus alba, Salvadora persica and Carissa opaca (from low and high altitude). Two standardizations of neutron activation analysis, that is, semi-absolute k 0-instrumental neutron activation analysis (k 0-INAA) and epithermal neutron activation analysis (ENAA) were employed for the quantification of elements. The analysis methodologies were validated by analyzing the IAEA-336 (lichen) and NIST-SRM-1572 (citrus leaves). Sixteen elements including Br, Ca, Cl, Co, Cr, Fe, I, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Rb, Sb, Sc Sr, and Zn were determined in all samples. Daily intakes of various elements from the samples were measured and compared with the dietary reference intakes. In this paper, the focussing of the transmitted electromagnetic field through a quadric inhomogeneous slab of lossless uniaxial chiral medium is derived using transmission coefficient under oblique incidence. The inhomogeneity in the uniaxial chiral slab has been incorporated through permittivity parameter. Asymptotic ray theory provides valid field everywhere except at focal point where it gives infinite value. Singularity of the field at focal point is addressed using Maslov's method. The derived analytical field expressions at caustic or focal point of uniaxial quadratic inhomogeneous slab have been solved numerically using MATHEMATICA. The effects of chirality parameter, axial permittivity, transvers permittivity, angle of incidence on the refracted field are discussed and the effects of Brewster angle on the focussed field are also discussed. This paper presents the application of a new method for interfacial modeling utilizing a merger of continuous Galerkin and discontinuous Galerkin concepts to simulate the behavior of mechanical joints. The interfacial flux terms arising naturally from the discontinuous Galerkin treatment provide a mechanism to embed friction models in a variationally consistent fashion. Due to the unbiased implementation of the interface, facilitated by avoiding the master–slave concept, the deformation of the two interacting surfaces conforms to the local material and geometric attributes of the surfaces. This results in a better preservation of physics in interface mechanics. Additionally, the method is incorporated into a Variational Multiscale framework that comes equipped with a built-in error estimation module, providing numerical estimation of convergence and distinguishing discretization errors from modeling errors. A series of quasi-static numerical simulations of a lap joint under fretting conditions are conducted to compare the performance of two friction models: (i) classical Coulomb friction model and (ii) physics-based multiscale model. Hysteresis study of a three-dimensional double-bolted lap joint for the two friction models is also presented and the computed results are shown to be consistent between conforming and nonconforming meshes. 相似文献

A speculative investigation has been presented to explore the salient features of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Prandtl‐Eyring nanofluid over stretching surface. Effects of Navier slip and convective boundary conditions are included in flow configuration. The effects of higher order chemical reactions along with Nield conditions are assumed in the concentration of nanoparticles. The mathematical modelling of the said flow problem accomplished the nonlinear partial differential equations along with appropriate boundary conditions. The nondimensional form of governing problem is yielded with the aid of similarity variables. The pivotal physical quantities, ie, velocity, temperature, and concentration (in nondimensional form), within boundary layer region are computed with shooting technique. The physical significance of flow controlling parameters on velocity, temperature, and concentration is illustrated through graphs. Additionally, thermophysical aspects of fluid near stretching surface (wall friction factor, wall heat flux, and wall mass flux) are instantiated graphically. A comparison of the current solution with reported data is established to validate the accuracy of adapted procedure. It is observed that the current findings agree with existing data. This led to confidence on adapted numerical procedure. 相似文献
