Wavelength-dependent selective loss for wavelength switching operation of an erbium-doped fiber ring laser

A wavelength-switchable erbium-doped fiber ring laser based on a wavelength-dependent selective loss fiber filter is demonstrated and reported. The filter is based on a long-period fiber grating and bending loss. The operating wavelength of the fiber laser can be switched from a single-wavelength operation at 1565 to 1527 nm.     

QCD phase transition with strange quark in wilson formalism for fermions

The nature of QCD phase transition is studied with massless up and down quarks and a light strange quark, using the Wilson formalism for quarks on a lattice with the temporal direction extensionN _t=4. We find that the phase transition is of first order for the physical strange quark mass.     

Excitation-wavelength Dependent Fluorescence of Ethyl 5-(4-aminophenyl)-3-amino-2,4-dicyanobenzoate

The excitation wavelength dependence of the steady-state and time-resolved emission spectra of ethyl 5-(4-aminophenyl)-3-amino-2,4-dicyanobenzoate (EAADCy) in tetrahydrofuran (THF) at room temperature has been examined. It is found that the ratio of the fluorescence intensity of the long-wavelength and short-wavelength fluorescence bands strongly depends on the excitation wavelength, whereas the wavelengths of the fluorescence excitation and fluorescence bands maxima are independent on the observation/excitation wavelengths. The dynamic Stokes shift of fluorophore in locally excited (LE) and intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) states has been studied with a time resolution about 30 ps. The difference between Stokes shift in the LE and ICT states was attributed to the solvent response to the large photoinduced dipole moment of EAADCy in the fluorescent charge transfer state. On this base we can state that, the relaxation of the polar solvent molecules around the fluorophore was observed.     

Isolated boundary singularities of semilinear elliptic equations

Given a smooth domain ${\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^N}$ such that ${0 \in \partial\Omega}$ and given a nonnegative smooth function ?? on ???, we study the behavior near 0 of positive solutions of ???u?=?u ^q in ?? such that u =? ?? on ???\{0}. We prove that if ${\frac{N+1}{N-1} < q < \frac{N+2}{N-2}}$ , then ${u(x)\leq C |x|^{-\frac{2}{q-1}}}$ and we compute the limit of ${|x|^{\frac{2}{q-1}} u(x)}$ as x ?? 0. We also investigate the case ${q= \frac{N+1}{N-1}}$ . The proofs rely on the existence and uniqueness of solutions of related equations on spherical domains.     

The time-dependent von K��rm��n plate equation as a limit of 3d nonlinear elasticity

The asymptotic behaviour of solutions of three-dimensional nonlinear elastodynamics in a thin plate is studied, as the thickness h of the plate tends to zero. Under appropriate scalings of the applied force and of the initial values in terms of h, it is shown that three-dimensional solutions of the nonlinear elastodynamic equation converge to solutions of the time-dependent von Kármán plate equation.     

Integration of H?lder forms and currents in snowflake spaces

For an oriented n-dimensional Lipschitz manifold M we give meaning to the integral ${\int_M f \, dg_1 \wedge \cdots \wedge dg_n}$ in case the functions ${f, g_1, \ldots, g_n}$ are merely H?lder continuous of a certain order by extending the construction of the Riemann?CStieltjes integral to higher dimensions. More generally, we show that for ${\alpha \in (\tfrac{n}{n+1},1]}$ the n-dimensional locally normal currents in a locally compact metric space (X, d) represent a subspace of the n-dimensional currents in (X, d ^?? ). On the other hand, for ${n \geq 1}$ and ${\alpha \leq \tfrac{n}{n+1}}$ the vector space of n-dimensional currents in (X, d ^?? ) is zero.     

A Hodge-Type Theorem for Manifolds with Fibered Cusp Metrics

A manifold with fibered cusp metrics X can be considered as a geometrical generalization of locally symmetric spaces of \mathbbQ{\mathbb{Q}}-rank one at infinity. We prove a Hodge-type theorem for this class of Riemannian manifolds, i.e. we find harmonic representatives of the de Rham cohomology H ^p (X). Similar to the situation of locally symmetric spaces, these representatives are computed by special values or residues of generalized eigenforms of the Hodge–Laplace operator on Ω ^p (X).     

Real Interpolation of Generalized Besov-Hardy Spaces and Applications

In this paper we consider generalized Hardy spaces which include classical Hardy spaces and Hardy-Lorentz spaces as special cases. We give real interpolation results for such spaces. As applications, we solve an interpolation problem for Besov spaces of generalized smoothness and prove the boundedness of pseudodifferential operators acting both in these spaces and in the local Hardy spaces. For the latter spaces, we also obtain wavelet decompositions.     

Adjustment Coefficient for Risk Processes in Some Dependent Contexts

Following Müller and Pflug (Insur Math Econ 28:381?C392, 2001) and Nyrhinen (Adv Appl Probab 30:1008?C1026, 1998; J Appl Probab 36:733?C746, 1999), we study the adjustment coefficient of ruin theory in a context of temporal dependency. We provide a consistent estimator for this coefficient, and perform some simulations.
