Pulse shaping by a discrete microstrip

Method for laser pulse shaping by a discrete transmission line has been improvedand simplified.Some calculations are given about deformation of the shaped pulse,passingthrough a laser amplifier.The required profile of electrical pulse can be deduced from the newcalculation when the amplified driving pulse profile is defined.The noise effect is estimated.     

Quasi-CW Diode Laser End-pumped Yb~(3 ): Glass Microchip Laser

Quasi-CW diode-pumped Yb3 : borate glass and Yb3 : phosphate glass microchip lasers have been reported. From Yb3 : phosphate glass laser, the maximum average output power was 31 mW and the optical-optical conversion efficiency was 5% . The maximum average output power was 18 mW, and optical-optical conversion efficiency was 3% for Yb3 :borate glass laser.

Theoretical analysis and computer simulations of the second-order Hopfield model

Theoretical analyses of the second-order Hopfield model show that the second-order Hopfield model with the bipolar binary (-1,1) vectors will have better than the samemodel with the unipolar binary (0,1) vectors.Computer simulations given in this paper con-firm this conclusion.     

One-operation image algebra for optical processing

A binary image algebra with one operation of a logic operation followed by a dilation and its modification with three additional operations for threshold processing of grey level images are developed in this paper. All the binary image processing functions and various grey level image processing functions related to morphological operations can be represented by the algebraic structure. The algebra is particularly suitable for parallel processing by optics in a cellular logic image processor architecture.
