Microanalysis of Si,S and Zn in GaSb by use of direct observation of (p,p′γ) reactions

The use of direct observation of nuclear reactions (p,p′γ) is discussed. The main characteristics of this method are presented and applied to the case of the miroanalysis of Si, S and Zn in GaSb.     

Determination of the position of the glucose bond in some cardiac glycosides

Conclusions 1. The possibility of determining the position of attachment of glucose in some diglycosides by their capacity for forming isopropylidene derivatives has been shown.2. Separation of gallic acid from Cornus officinalis Sieb. et Zucc by high-speed counter-current chromatography

Gallic acid was separated from a n-butanol extract of the fruit of Cornus officinalis Sieb. et Zucc by high-speed countercurrent chromatography in two steps using two solvent systems composed of ethyl-acetate-ethanol n-butanol-water (5:1.8:6, v/v/v) and ethyl acetate-ethanol-water (5:0.5:6, v/v/v) successively. From 1 g of n-butanol extract the method produced 60 mg of gallic acid at a purity of 97%.     

Selective extraction of mercury by 4-phenyl-5-p-tolyl-1,3,4-thiadiazolium-2-thiolate (PTTDT)

The extraction of radio-mercury(II) by PTTDT was investigated as function of diluent, hydrochloric acid concentration, extractant concentration and certain foreign compounds in the aqueous phase. The extraction was found to be quantitative when chloroform was used as diluent and at low HCl or high PTTDT concentrations. Neither the presence of boric acid, nor several metal salts (NaF, CuSO₄, ZnSO₄ or Na₂SO₄) had any effect on the E%. The presence of chloride or bromide lowers the E% considerably. A radiochemical procedure was developed to pre-concentrate mercury from artifical sea water using an organic: aqueous phase ratio of 1∶100.     

Inhibiting activity of complexes of urethanes with variable valency metals
