Results are reported from a search for active to sterile neutrino oscillations in the MINOS long-baseline experiment, based on the observation of neutral-current neutrino interactions, from an exposure to the NuMI neutrino beam of 7.07×10(20) protons on target. A total of 802 neutral-current event candidates is observed in the Far Detector, compared to an expected number of 754 ± 28(stat) ± 37(syst) for oscillations among three active flavors. The fraction f(s) of disappearing ν(μ) that may transition to ν(s) is found to be less than 22% at the 90% C.L. 相似文献

The decay rates of baryon resonances assigned to the {70, 1?} and {56, 2+} presentations of SU(6)W ? O(3) are subjected to a detailed comparison with an SU(6)W model motivated by the recent work of Melosh. Carotenoids from Marine Sponges (Porifera): Isolation and Structure of the Seven Main Carotenoids from Agelas schmidtii The following carotenoids were identified in the marine sponge Agelas schmidtii: α-carotene ((6′R)-β, ε-carotene ( 1 )), isorenieratene (φ,φ-carotene ( 2 )), trikentriorhodin (3,8-dihydroxy-κ,χ-caroten-6-one ( 3 )) and zeaxanthin ((3R, 3′R)-β, β-carotene-3, 3′-diol ( 4 )). In addition, three previously unknown carotenoids called agelaxanthin A, B and C were isolated. Spectroscopical and chemical structure elucidation showed agelaxanthin A to be (3 R)-β, φ-caroten-3-ol ( 6 ) and agelaxanthin C to be a methoxy-19,3′,8′-trihydroxy-7,8-didehydro-β, κ-caroten-6′-one ( 7 ) with the methoxy group at C (2), C (3) or C (4). The limited data on age-laxanthin B were compatible with the structure of a 19-O-methyl derivative of agelaxanthin C. 相似文献

To determine if subcellular localization is important to photodynamic therapy (PDT) efficacy, an in vitro fluorescence microscopy study was conducted with a congeneric series of pyropheophorbide-a derivatives in human pharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (FaDu) cells and murine radiation-induced fibrosarcoma (RIF) mutant cells. In the FaDu cells the octyl, decyl and dodecyl ether derivatives localized to the lysosomes at extracellular concentrations less than needed to produce a 50% cell kill (LD50). At extracellular concentrations equal or greater than the LD50 the compounds localized mainly to mitochondria. The propyl, pentyl, hexyl and heptyl ether derivatives localized mainly to the mitochondria at all concentrations studied. This suggested that mitochondria are a sensitive PDT target for these derivatives. Similar experiments were performed with two Photofrin-PDT resistant RIF cell lines, one of which was found to be resistant to hexyl ether derivative (C6) mediated-PDT and the other sensitive to C6-PDT relative to the parent line. At extracellular concentrations of C6 below the LD50 of each cell line, the mutants exhibited lysosomal localization. At concentrations above these values the patterns shifted to a mainly mitochondrial pattern. In these cell lines mitochondrial localization also correlated with PDT sensitivity. Localization to mitochondria or lysosomes appeared to be affected by the aggregation state of the congeners, all of which are highly aggregated in aqueous medium. Monomers apparently were the active fraction of these compounds because equalizing the extracellular monomer concentrations produced equivalent intracellular concentrations, photoxicity and localization patterns. Compounds that were mainly aggregates localized to the lysosomes where they were rendered less active. Mitochondria appear to be a sensitive target for pyropheophorbide-a-mediated photodamage, and the degree of aggregation seems to be a determinant of the localization site. 相似文献

Data on the charge-exchange reaction π?p → (π+π?π0)n have been taken at beam momenta of 12 and 15 GeV/c, using the CERN Omega Multiparticle Spectrometer. A partial-wave analysis has been made of the (3π)0 system. We observe both natural and unnatural spin-parity production. The natural parity states can be identified with established resonances. In addition a natural spin-parity enhancement is observed at a mass of about 2 GeV/c2 with JP = 4+ preferred. We have called this effect the A21 (2030). The unnatural spin-parity production found is consistent with reggeized Deck model predictions. No unambiguous A1 or A3 production is observed. 相似文献

Total and differential cross sections are determined and density matrix elements presented as a function of t in the t- and s-channel frames.
