Norm Series in High-Dimensional Local Fields

In the present paper, the notion of norm series with respect to the norm residue symbol is generalized to high-dimensional local fields. A differential calculus on the quantum groupSU q (2) comparible with the gauge-transformation structure

We consider a three-dimensional bicovariant differential calculus on the quantum group SU_q(2) that is compatible with the structure of gauge transformations. In the approach based on the global covariance with respect to the stability subgroup U(1), we show that the gauge-covariant exterior differential algebra on SU_q(2) is uniquely determined. We construct explicit representations of q-deformed Lie algebras in terms of differential operators. Comparative analysis of (p,d), (d,t) and (3He, α) reactions on13C nucleus

The angular distributions of the (p, d), (d, t) and(³He, ) reactions on¹³C have been analysed within the framework of DWBA in which additional information on nuclear vertex constants was introduced. Although all these reactions seem to be similar single nucleon transfer, their mechanism is shown to be quite different and so is the information extracted thereof. While from the (p, d) reactions spectroscopic factors may be extracted unambiguously, from the (d, t) reactions it is possible to obtain directly the values of vertex constants only, which in turn are consistent with those determined by extrapolation of the experimental cross sections of the (p, d) reactions to the pole.In the case of (³He, ) reactions, however, the analysis indicates inadequacy of the DWBA concerning the calculations of central partial amplitudes. For a more reliable extraction of structural information, besides the correct normalization of peripheral amplitudes, a contribution of more complex mechanisms must be taken into account.     

Separation and sensitive determination of arsenic species (As/As) using the yeast-immobilized column and hydride generation in ICP–AES

Inorganic arsenic was separated using the yeast-immobilized column. Saccharomyces cerevisiae was covalently bonded unto the controlled pore glass, which showed selective preconcentration of As⁵⁺ over As³⁺. The effluent was directly connected to hydride generation (HG) to increase sensitivity. The optimum pH condition for the retainment of arsenic at the column was 7. As⁵⁺ and As³⁺ were completely separated in a few minutes with the flow rate of 1.5 ml min⁻¹. Three molars of nitric acid was adequate both for the elution of As⁵⁺ and hydride generation. The accuracy of the technique was tested with NIST SRMs. Quantitative analysis of arsenic species for herbicide, pesticide, and cigarette were performed, and the results showed good agreements with the suggested values. Yeast-immobilized column-HG-ICP showed a promising future for the arsenic speciation study.     

Self-assembled multivalent vancomycin on cell surfaces against vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE)

A vancomycin (Van) derivative self-assembles in a phosphate buffer as a divalent Van and on cell surfaces as a multivalent Van, which offers potent activity against VRE.     

Full spin-orbit configuration interaction calculations on electronic states of LiBe

Ab initio calculations are reported for the simplest heteronuclear metal cluster, LiBe. Full spin-orbit configuration interaction calculations in the context of relativistic effective core potentials lead to accurate potential energy curves for low-lying states. Results are compared with recent experimental observations and with all electron multi-reference configuration interaction calculations.
