A six level rate equation system was used to investigate the impact of photodepletion to amplified spontaneous emission (ASE)
of intramolecular proton-transfer (IPT) dyes incorporated into polymeric hosts. The model includes the most important transitions
for the normal and tautomer form of the molecule as well as intersystem crossing and triplet–triplet transitions. The experimentally
observed pulse shape as well as photodepletion phenomena, i.e. a first order exponential decay of the ASE intensity and a
shortening in ASE pulse width, have been simulated successfully. Additionally, the model was used to propose an explanation
of the unexpected high photodepletion of proton-transfer dyes in solids. The results show that the emission cross section
and reabsorption cross section of the tautomer form of the molecule are the most important parameter not only for efficiency
but also for photodepletion. The model was tested by comparison with experimental results of 2-(2’-hydroxyphenyl)benzimidazole
in polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), polystyrene (PS) and a 1:1 alternating copolymer matrix PS-co-PMMA.

Nitrogen laser performance with TE configuration and wedge electrodes is analyzed with background ionization in the laser
discharge channel by α particles at a low exposition rate. With the bias ionization, the laser power presents two peaks as a function of gas pressure,
with one at the normal low pressure, without bias ionization, and the other at high pressure generated by bias ionization.
A simple theoretical model has been developed in a trial to understand this behavior. This model was first tested in later
results for a TE configuration nitrogen laser, with flat electrodes, without and with bias ionization. It has been observed
that due to the competition between electrode shielding by positively charged α particles and bulk ionization by impact, the laser energy is suppressed with pressure below 50 Torr and enhanced above it. 相似文献

We describe an algorithm for the dominating set problem with time complexity O((4g+40)kn2) for graphs of bounded genus g1, where k is the size of the set. It has previously been shown that this problem is fixed parameter tractable for planar graphs. We give a simpler proof for the previous O(8kn2) result for planar graphs. For a number of computational search problems, the existence of a polynomial-time algorithm for the problem implies that a polynomial-time algorithm for the problem is constructively known. Some instances of such self-witnessing polynomial-time complexity are presented. Our main result demonstrates this property for the problem of computing the prime factorization of a positive integer, based on a lemma which shows that a certificate for primality or compositeness can be constructed for a positive integer p in deterministic polynomial time given a complete factorization of p - 1. 相似文献

Direct UV detection of carbohydrates in free solution capillary electrophoresis at 270 nm is made possible by a photo-oxidation reaction. Glucose, rhamnose and xylose were shown to have unique UV absorption spectra hypothesizing different UV absorbing intermediates for their respective photo-oxidation. NMR spectroscopy of the photo-oxidation end products proved they consisted of carboxylates and not malondialdehyde as previously theorized and that oxygen thus plays a key role in the photo-oxidation pathway. Adding the photo-initiator Irgacure® 2959 in the background electrolyte increased sensitivity by 40% at an optimum concentration of 1 × 10−4 mM and 1 × 10−8 mM for conventional 50 μm i.d. capillaries and for the corresponding extended light path capillaries, respectively. 相似文献

Fouling of heat exchanger surfaces during sugar manufacture reduces productivity and increases energy demand. This study characterizes a deposit (including its internal structure) formed in a sugar factory's evaporator unit using a variety of X‐ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy techniques (including X‐ray powder diffraction, X‐ray fluorescence, elemental mapping with energy dispersive spectroscopy and backscattered electron imaging). Calcium sulfate dihydrate, calcium oxalate mono‐ and dihydrate, hydroxyapatite, amorphous silica and organic matter are present in the deposit. The composition of the deposit (which contains three layers) varies along the height of the tube. There are noticeable differences in the composition and porosity among the layers in the deposit. A porous structure consisting of a mixture of amorphous silica, calcium oxalate dihydrate and organic matter is attached to the surface of the deposit in contact with sugar juice, while a denser morphology of amorphous silica and hydroxyapatite is attached to the tube wall. Elemental mapping identifies an association between Si, Al, Mg, Fe and O, suggesting the presence of a silicate compound as a minor component in the deposit.
