Stable dispersion of titania nanoparticles in organic solvents are obtained by grafting poly(methyl methacrylate) layer on to the surface. Titania nanoparticles are synthesized through the hydrolysis of titanium (IV) isopropoxide. The average size of the titania particles is found to be 15 ± 2 nm. The polymer layer was introduced onto the surface by immobilizing the initiating moiety. Azo initiator moiety required for surface-initiated conventional free radical polymerization and a tertiary bromide initiator moiety required for ATRP are attached covalently to the titania nanoparticulate surface through the surface hydroxyl groups. The “encapsulation” of PMMA layer results in the steric stabilization of the titania nanoparticles. Another important finding is that it is possible to grow polymer layer in a controlled fashion.  相似文献

Recently, the phase-flip bifurcation has been described as a fundamental transition in time-delay coupled, phase-synchronized nonlinear dynamical systems. The bifurcation is characterized by a change of the synchronized dynamics from being in-phase to antiphase, or vice versa; the phase-difference between the oscillators undergoes a jump of pi as a function of the coupling strength or the time delay. This phase-flip is accompanied by discontinuous changes in the frequency of the synchronized oscillators, and in the largest negative Lyapunov exponent or its derivative. Here we illustrate the phenomenology of the bifurcation for several classes of nonlinear oscillators, in the regimes of both periodic and chaotic dynamics. We present extensive numerical simulations and compute the oscillation frequencies and the Lyapunov spectra as a function of the coupling strength. In particular, our simulations provide clear evidence of the phase-flip bifurcation in excitable laser and Fitzhugh-Nagumo neuronal models, and in diffusively coupled predator-prey models with either limit cycle or chaotic dynamics. Our analysis demonstrates marked jumps of the time-delayed and instantaneous fluxes between the two interacting oscillators across the bifurcation; this has strong implications for the performance of the system as well as for practical applications. We further construct an electronic circuit consisting of two coupled Chua oscillators and provide the first formal experimental demonstration of the bifurcation. In totality, our study demonstrates that the phase-flip phenomenon is of broad relevance and importance for a wide range of physical and natural systems.  相似文献

We report the identification of six new superdeformed (SD) bands in 197,198Pb observed with the EUROBALL IV spectrometer. The results are interpreted in the framework of cranked Hartree-Fock calculations with approximate projection on the particle number by means of the Lipkin-Nogami method. A mixing between quasi-particle excitations and an octupole vibration is suggested in the two SD isotopes. We have estimated the ordering of the neutron valence orbitals and confirm indirectly a N = 118 SD gap. Received: 20 December 2000 / Accepted: 24 January 2001  相似文献

We study the Cauchy problem for non-abelian Yang-Mills-Higgs theory in (3+1)-dimensional Minkowski spacetime. With suitable conditions on the background fields and a suitable choice of a Sobolev space for the subtracted gauge potentials and the Higgs field, we establish local existence. We then prove global existence by showing that an appropriate norm of the solutions cannot blow up in a finite time.  相似文献

We present the design and fabrication of a single-mode slab waveguide structure for mid-infrared spectroscopy optimized for broadband coupling. The sensor uses grating couplers for robust off-axis coupling and a silicon nitride guiding layer for mechanical robustness. An external cavity quantum cascade laser-based transmission method is introduced for characterizing the structure’s broadband coupling behavior. Light from an external cavity quantum cascade laser with a spectral range of 0.5 μm around 6 μm was coupled into the waveguide without the need for moving parts. First spectra taken with this sensor are presented.  相似文献

In the present paper we propose to measure the index of refraction for diatomic sodium molecules traveling through a cold helium gas. Theoretical calculations of the index of refraction for this system are presented as a function of the molecule velocity and atom gas temperature. Whereas previous theoretical efforts to compute the refractive index have been concerned with atomic systems and atomic matter waves, we extend the investigation to diatomic molecules in the present work. To enable such calculations the potential energy surface for the atom-molecule interaction is calculated ab initio, along with the long range dispersion coefficients for the atom-molecule system. The full close-coupled equations, describing the atom-molecule collisions, are solved numerically to work out the influence of the collisions on the matter waves. We investigate the sensitivity of the results upon changes and inaccuracies in the potential energy surface. Several molecular rotational levels are included in the present study, and the index of refraction is found to depend on the rotational state. In addition, the index of refraction for atomic lithium matter waves traveling through the cold noble gases helium and argon are computed, motivated by a recent experiment with atomic lithium matter waves. Different resonances (glory- and scattering resonances) are identified from the results. Such resonances offer an important opportunity for the comparison of experiment and theory.  相似文献

Anomalous phase synchronization in nonidentical interacting oscillators is manifest as the increase of frequency disorder prior to synchronization. We show that this effect can be enhanced when a time-delay is included in the coupling. In systems of limit-cycle and chaotic oscillators we find that the regions of phase disorder and phase synchronization can be interwoven in the parameter space such that as a function of coupling or time-delay the system shows transitions from phase ordering to disorder and back.  相似文献

Spatial coherence resonance in a spatially extended system that is locally modeled by Hodgkin-Huxley (HH) neurons is studied in this paper. We focus on the ability of additive temporally and spatially uncorrelated Gaussian noise to extract a particular spatial frequency of excitatory waves in the medium, whereby examining the impact of diffusive and small-world network topology that determines the interactions amongst coupled HH neurons. We show that there exists an intermediate noise intensity that is able to extract a characteristic spatial frequency of the system in a resonant manner provided the latter is diffusively coupled, thus indicating the existence of spatial coherence resonance. However, as the diffusive topology of the medium is relaxed via the introduction of shortcut links introducing small-world properties amongst coupled HH neurons, the ability of additive Gaussian noise to evoke ordered excitatory waves deteriorates rather spectacularly, leading to the decoherence of the spatial dynamics and with it related absence of spatial coherence resonance. In particular, already a minute fraction of shortcut links suffices to substantially disrupt coherent pattern formation in the examined system.  相似文献

Thermoelectric FeSb2 films were produced by pulsed laser deposition on silica substrates in a low-pressure Ar environment. The growth conditions for near phase-pure FeSb2 films were confirmed to be optimized at a substrate temperature of 425°C, an Ar pressure of 2 Pa, and deposition time of 3 h by ablating specifically prepared compound targets made of Fe and Sb powders in atomic ratio of 1:4. The thermoelectric transport properties of FeSb2 films were investigated. Pulsed laser deposition was demonstrated as a method for production of good-quality FeSb2 films.  相似文献

Four previously known rotational bands in 76Rb have been extended to moderate spins using the Gammasphere and Microball γ ray and charged particle detector arrays and the 40Ca(40Ca, 3pn) reaction at a beam energy of 165 MeV. The properties of two of the negative-parity bands can only readily be interpreted in terms of the highly successful Cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky model calculations if they have the same configuration in terms of the number of g9/2 particles, but they result from different nuclear shapes (one near-oblate and the other near-prolate). These data appear to constitute a unique example of shape coexisting structures at medium spins.  相似文献
