Synthesis and characterization of some rhodium(III) cyclometallated complexes of 2-substituted benzylideneamino thiazoles

Summary Schiffs bases derived from 2-aminothiazole and substituted benzaldehydes were reacted with [RhCl(PPh₃)₃] or [Rh(-Cl)(COD)]₂ (COD = 1,5-cyclooctadiene) in the presence of four equivalents of PPh₃ to give Rh^III cyclometallated complexes of the type [RhHCl{(X-benzylidene) thiazole}(PPh₃)₂], in which the imine C-H added oxidatively to the metal. The complexes were characterized using i.r., u.v. and n.m.r. spectroscopy. The disposition of the hydride ligand was inferred as trans to a N-donor ligand.     

Analytical solutions for the fractional nonlinear cable equation using a modified homotopy perturbation and separation of variables methods

In this paper, we first introduce a new homotopy perturbation method for solving a fractional order nonlinear cable equation. By applying proposed method the nonlinear equation it is changed to linear equation for per iteration of homotopy perturbation method. Then, we solve obtained problems with separation method. In examples, we illustrate that the exact solution is obtained in one iteration by convenience separating of source term in given equation.     

Artificial intelligence techniques for modeling and optimization of the HDS process over a new graphene based catalyst

A Co-Mo/graphene oxide (GO) catalyst has been synthesized for the first time for application in a defined hydrodesulfurization (HDS) process to produce sulfur free naphtha. An intelligent model based upon the neural network technique has then been developed to estimate the total sulfur output of this process. Process operating variables include temperature, pressure, LHSV and H₂/feed volume ratio. The three-layer, feed-forward neural network developed consists of five neurons in a hidden layer, trained with Levenberg–Marquardt, back-propagation gradient algorithm. The predicted amount of residual total sulfur is in very good agreement with the corresponding experimental values revealing a correlation coefficient of greater than 0.99. In addition, a genetic algorithm (GA) has been employed to optimize values of total sulfur as well as reaction conditions.     

The Bochner–Schoenberg–Eberlein Property for Totally Ordered Semigroup Algebras

The concepts of BSE property and BSE algebras were introduced and studied by Takahasi and Hatori in 1990 and later by Kaniuth and Ülger. This abbreviation refers to a famous theorem proved by Bochner and Schoenberg for \(L^1({\mathbb {R}})\), where \({\mathbb {R}}\) is the additive group of real numbers, and by Eberlein for \(L^1(G)\) of a locally compact abelian group G. In this paper we investigate this property for the Banach algebra \(L^p(S,\mu )\;(1\le p<\infty )\) where S is a compact totally ordered semigroup with multiplication \(xy=\max \{x,y\}\) and \(\mu \) is a regular bounded continuous measure on S. As an application, we have shown that \(L^1(S,\mu )\) is not an ideal in its second dual.

An efficient synthesis of spiro[dibenzo[b,i]xanthene-13,3′-indoline]-pentaones and 5H-dibenzo[b,i]xanthene-tetraones

Spiro[dibenzo[b,i]xanthene-13,3′-indoline]-pentaones and 5H-dibenzo[b,i]xanthene-tetraones are synthesized from the condensation of 2-hydroxynaphthalene-1,4-dione with isatins or aldehydes.     

Studies on the reaction of N‐(3‐carbethoxy‐4,5,6,7‐tetrahydrobenzo[b]thien‐2‐yl)‐N′‐phenylthiourea with hydrazine hydrate (Part 1)

The reaction of N‐(3‐carbethoxy‐4,5,6,7‐tetrahydrobenzo[b]thien‐2‐yl)‐N′‐phenylthiourea ( 1 ) with hydrazine hydrate in 1‐butanol afforded a mixture of compounds 2, 3 and 4 . Treatment of 3 and 4 with nitrous acid gave 6 and 8 respectively, while reactions of 3 with acetylacetone gave 7 . Synthesis of tetracyclic compounds 9a‐f and 11 from the reactions of 3 with ethyl orthoformate or appropriate acids, acid chloride, carbon disulphide and/or ethyl chloroformate. Also its reaction with isothiocyanate derivatives gave the corresponding thiosemicarbzides 12a,b which on, refluxing in alcoholic KOH gave the unexpected tetracyclic products 14a,b . Similarly the tetracyclic compounds 16a‐e and 19 were obtained by cyclization of 4 and 18 respectively.

Solvent-free synthesis of highly functionalized indole-based 4,5-dihydrofurans and evaluation of their antioxidant activity

Facile and efficient diastereoselective synthesis of trans-indolyldihydrofurans by three-component reaction of 3-cyanoacetyl indoles with various aromatic aldehydes and N-phenacylpyridinium bromides in presence of 1,1,3,3-N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylguanidine under solvent-free conditions is described. This ecofriendly protocol offers several advantages such as a cost-effective procedure with excellent yield, short reaction time, ease workup and product isolation, good functional group tolerance, and broad scope of usable substrates. The synthesized compounds were also evaluated for their antioxidant activity by 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging assay.
