We study long wavelength magnetic excitations in lightly doped La2-xSrxCuO4 (x=0.03) detwinned crystals. The lowest energy magnetic anisotropy induced gap can be understood in terms of the antisymmetric spin interaction inside the antiferromagnetic (AF) phase. The second magnetic resonance, analyzed in terms of in-plane spin anisotropy, shows unconventional behavior within the AF state; it led to the discovery of collective spin excitations pertaining to a field induced magnetically ordered state. This state persists in a 9 T field to more than 100 K above the Néel temperature in x=0.01. 相似文献

We prove some local properties of the spectrum of a linear dynamical system in Hilbert space. The semigroup generator, the control operator and the observation operator may be unbounded. We consider (i) the PBH test, (ii) the correspondence between the poles of the resolvent of the semigroup generator and the poles of the transfer function, and (iii) pole-zero cancellation between two transfer functions of the cascade connection of two dynamical systems. We report time-resolved measurements of the photoinduced change in reflectivity, DeltaR, in the Bi2Sr2Ca(1-y)Dy(y)Cu2O8+delta (BSCCO) system of cuprate superconductors as a function of hole concentration. We find that the kinetics of quasiparticle decay and the sign of DeltaR both change abruptly where the superconducting transition temperature T(c) is maximal. These coincident changes suggest that a sharp transition in quasiparticle dynamics takes place precisely at optimal doping in the BSCCO system. 相似文献

We report hole-doping dependence of the in-plane resistivity rho(ab) in a cuprate superconductor La(2-x)Sr(x)CuO4, carefully examined using a series of high-quality single crystals. Our detailed measurements find a tendency towards charge ordering at particular rational hole-doping fractions of 1/16, 3/32, 1/8, and 3/16. This observation appears to suggest a specific form of charge order and is most consistent with the recent theoretical prediction of the checkerboard-type ordering of the Cooper pairs at rational doping fractions x = (2m+1)/2n, with integers m and n. 相似文献

Single-electron charging in an individual InAs quantum dot was observed by electrostatic force measurements with an atomic-force microscope (AFM). The resonant frequency shift and the dissipated energy of an oscillating AFM cantilever were measured as a function of the tip-back electrode voltage, and the resulting spectra show distinct jumps when the tip was positioned above the dot. The observed jumps in the frequency shift, with corresponding peaks in dissipation, are attributed to a single-electron tunneling between the dot and the back electrode governed by the Coulomb blockade effect, and are consistent with a model based on the free energy of the system. The observed phenomenon may be regarded as the "force version" of the Coulomb blockade effect. 相似文献

We developed a technique of three-dimensional (3-D) display for distant viewing of a 3-D image without the need for special glasses. The photobased integral photography (IP) method allows precise 3-D images to be displayed at long viewing distances without any influence from deviated or distorted lenses in a lens array. We calculate elemental images from a referential viewing area for each lens and project the corresponding result images to photographic film through each lens. We succeed in creating an image display that appears to have three dimensionality even when viewed from a distance, with an image depth of 5.7 m or more in front of the display and 3.5 m or more behind the display. To the best of our knowledge, the long-distance IP display presented here is technically unique because it is the first report of generation of an image with such a long viewing distance. 相似文献

In RBaCo2O(5+x) compounds (R is rare earth), the variability of the oxygen content allows precise doping of CoO2 planes with both types of charge carriers. We study transport properties of doped GdBaCo2O(5+x) single crystals and find a remarkable asymmetry in the behavior of holes and electrons doped into a parent insulator GdBaCo2O(5.5). The doping dependencies of resistivity, Hall response, and thermoelectric power reveal that the doped holes greatly improve the conductivity, while the electron-doped samples always remain poorly conducting. This doping asymmetry provides strong evidence for a spin blockade of the electron transport in RBaCo2O(5+x). 相似文献

We propose a new numerical method for a solution of first-order linear hyperbolic equations. The leap-frog scheme is converted to a nondispersive scheme by introducing an adjustable constant in a fictitious absorption term. Then the erroneous decrease in th solution is eliminated by solving two equations equivalent to the original equation. The new scheme perfectly preserves the form of a discontinuous solution. 相似文献

A multi-spectral imaging system is evaluated for mapping melanin density, total-hemoglobin density, and oxygen saturation in human skin. In this system, the distribution of pigments in human skin is estimated and displayed from digital video signals using three pre-computed “look-up” tables for color conversions. The accuracy of the system is analyzed based on computer simulation by changing the number of bands, quantization levels of the camera system, and dimensions of approximation for spectral reflectance. Detailed behavior of the magnetoresistance (MR) is studied in lightly doped antiferromagnetic La(1.99)Sr(0.01)CuO(4), where, thanks to the weak-ferromagnetic moment due to spin canting, the antiferromagnetic (AF) domain structure can be manipulated by the magnetic field. The MR behavior demonstrates that CuO(2) planes indeed contain antiphase AF-domain boundaries in which charges are confined, forming antiphase stripes. The data suggest that a high magnetic field turns the antiphase stripes into in-phase stripes, and the latter appear to give better conduction than the former, which challenges the notion that the antiphase character of stripes facilitates charge motion. 相似文献
