We investigate the cumulative scenery process associated with random walks in independent, identically distributed random sceneries under the assumption that the scenery variables satisfy Cramér’s condition. We prove moderate deviation principles in dimensions d≥2d2, covering all those regimes where rate and speed do not depend on the actual distribution of the scenery. For the case d≥4d4 we even obtain precise asymptotics for the probability of a moderate deviation, extending a classical central limit theorem of Kesten and Spitzer. For d≥3d3, an important ingredient in the proofs are new concentration inequalities for self-intersection local times of random walks, which are of independent interest, whilst for d=2d=2 we use a recent moderate deviation result for self-intersection local times, which is due to Bass, Chen and Rosen.  相似文献

We describe a hydrogen-bonded poly(4-vinyl pyridine)-based dielectric material, in which conductivity can be induced due to the presence of side-chain protonated species that form spontaneously when the polymer is dissolved in pyridine. The conductivity of the proton conductive gel can be controlled by direct irradiation at the proton-transfer center: a reversible change of conductivity was observed in response to the on/off switching of 385 nm wavelength radiation. Over most of the range of intensities used, the proton conductivity exhibited a bimolecular character. We present a model of the protonated pyridine side-chain unit in the ground and excited states (DFT level). In the ground state, the protonated pyridine moiety has a cyclic, conjugated structure.  相似文献

As is well known, for a supercritical Galton-Watson process Z n whose offspring distribution has mean m > 1, the ratio W n := Z n /m n has almost surely a limit, say W. We study the tail behaviour of the distributions of W n and W in the case where Z 1 has a heavy-tailed distribution, that is, $\mathbb{E}e^{\lambda {\rm Z}_1 } = \infty $ for every λ > 0. We show how different types of distributions of Z 1 lead to different asymptotic behaviour of the tail of W n and W. We describe the most likely way in which large values of the process occur.  相似文献

Glass ceramic materials with composition 75TeO2–xBi2O3–(25-x)ZnO (x = 13, 12, 11) possessing transparency in the near- and mid-infrared (MIR) regions were studied in this paper. It was found that as the Bi2O3 content increased in the glass composition, the observed crystallization tendency is enhanced, and high crystal concentrations were obtained for the glasses with high Bi2O3 content while maintaining transparency in the MIR region. Crystal size in the glass ceramic was reduced by adjusting the heat treatment conditions; the smallest average size obtained in this study is 700 nm. Bi0.864Te0.136O1.568 was identified using X-ray Diffraction (XRD) and found to be the only crystal phase developed in the glass ceramics when the treatment temperature was fixed at 335 °C. The morphology of the crystals was studied using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and crystals were found to be polyhedral structures with uniform sizes and a narrow size distribution for a fixed heat treatment regime. Infrared absorption spectra of the resulting glass ceramics were studied. The glass ceramic retained transparency in the infrared region when the crystals inside were smaller than 1 μm, with an absorption coefficient less than 0.5/cm in the infrared region from 1.25 to 2.5 μm. The mechanical properties were also improved after crystallization; the Vickers Hardness value of the glass ceramic increased by 10% relative to the base glass.  相似文献

This study reports on the formation of a low viscosity H(II) mesophase at room temperature upon addition of Transcutol (diethylene glycol mono ethyl ether) or ethanol to the ternary mixture of GMO (glycerol monooleate)/TAG (tricaprylin)/water. The microstructure and bulk properties were characterized in comparison with those of the low viscosity HII mesophase formed in the ternary GMO/TAG/water mixture at elevated temperatures (35-40 degrees C). We characterized the role of Transcutol or ethanol as inducers of disorder and surfactant mobility. The techniques used were rheology, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), wide- and small-angle X-ray scattering (WAXS and SAXS, respectively), NMR (self-diffusion and (2)H NMR), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopies. The incorporation of either Transcutol or ethanol induced the formation of less ordered HII mesophases with smaller domain sizes and lattice parameters at room temperature (up to 30 degrees C), similar to those found for the GMO/TAG/water mixture at more elevated temperatures (35-40 degrees C). On the basis of our measurements, we suggest that Transcutol or ethanol causes dehydration of the GMO headgroups and enhances the mobility of the GMO chains. As a result, these two small molecules, which compete for water with the GMO polar headgroups, may increase the curvature of the cylindrical micelles and also perhaps reduce their length. This results in the formation of fluid H(II) structures at room temperature (up to 30 degrees C). It is possible that these phases are a prelude to the H(II)-L(2) transformation, which takes place above 35 degrees C.  相似文献

The 41-amino acid peptide corticotropin releasing factor (CRF) is a major modulator of the mammalian stress response. Upon stressful stimuli, it binds to the corticotropin releasing factor receptor 1 (CRF(1)R), a typical member of the class-B G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and a prime target in the treatment of mood disorders. To chemically probe the molecular interaction of CRF with the transmembrane domain of its cognate receptor, we developed a high-throughput conjugation approach that mimics the natural activation mechanism of class-B GPCRs. An acetylene-tagged peptide library was synthesized and conjugated to an azide-modified high-affinity carrier peptide derived from the CRF C-terminus using copper-catalyzed dipolar cycloaddition. The resulting conjugates reconstituted potent agonists and were tested in situ for activation of the CRF(1) receptor in a cell-based assay. By use of this approach we (i) defined the minimal sequence motif that is required for full receptor activation, (ii) identified the critical functional groups and structure-activity relationships, (iii) developed an optimized, highly modified peptide probe with high potency (EC(50) = 4 nM) that is specific for the activation domain of the receptor, and (iv) probed the behavioral role of CRF receptors in living mice. The membrane recruitment by a high-affinity carrier enhanced the potency of the tethered peptides by >4 orders of magnitude and thus allowed the testing of very weak initial fragments that otherwise would have been inactive on their own. As no chromatography purification of the test peptides was necessary, a substantial increase in screening throughput was achieved. Importantly, the peptide conjugates can be used to probe the endogenous receptor in its native environment in vivo.  相似文献

Recently a spatial version of Neveu’s (1992) continuous-state branching process was constructed by Fleischmann and Sturm (2004). This superprocess with infinite mean branching behaves quite differently from usual supercritical spatial branching processes. In fact, at macroscopic scales, the mass renormalized to a (random) probability measure is concentrated in a single space point which randomly fluctuates according to the underlying symmetric stable motion process.  相似文献
