Tributylarsonium-2,2,3,3,4,4-hexafluorocyclobutane ylide. Preparation and cleavage

$\text{F}$-cyclobutene forms a stable ylide with $\text{n}$-tributylarsine. In contrast to the halogen cleavage of the analogous phosphonium ylide, which gives 1,1-dihaloalkanes, the arsonium ylide reacts with bromine and iodine to give the 1-halo-$\text{F}$-cyclobutenes.     

REGULATORY CONTROLS AND MARKET POWER EXERTION: A STUDY OF THE PACIFIC HALIBUT INDUSTRY

Regulatory controls designed to manage Pacific halibut fisheries are shown to have altered firms' competitive behavior. Managing catch through open access derbies allowed processors to exert monopsony market power at the vessel level during short seasons. As a result, a significant portion of regulatory rents associated with reduced seasons were captured by processors. Results also indicate that processors have not exerted significant market power at the wholesale level.     

A general rule for the adsorption of gases on metals

The W(110)-Ba system studies were undertaken to determine the essence of structure transformation stages in monoatomic layers. The first structure observed to form at the initial condensation stage (n < 1 × 10¹⁴ atoms/cm²) is an incoherent hexagonal film, while the following structures at higher coverages are coherent. A detailed analysis of these data allows one to conclude that the variations in potential of the adatom (potential relief) are a function of the absolute surface coverage. The work function, thermal desorption energy and surface plasma losses are also presented and discussed. Linear segments were found on the work function versus coverage curve to be correlated with the structure transformations. The work function minimum is believed to be closely related to the appearance of metallic bonding.
