Systematics of related high-spin isomers in 144Sm and other N = 82 nuclei

An in-beam experiment with the reaction ¹²²Sn(²⁷Al,4np) at 127 MeV was performed at the Nordball multi-detector array in Roskilde. It provided evidence for a new high-spin isomer in ¹⁴⁴Sm. This isomer with T _1/2= (2.6 ± 0.5) ns at an excitation energy E _x= 9232 keV seems to belong to a family of isomers of similar configuration in neighbouring N= 82 nuclei. Consider a population of diploid individuals and the associated gametic multiple allelic algebra. The aim of this note is to give a structure theorem for the Lie algebra of derivations of this algebra.     

A Wavefront Approach to Center Location Problems with Barriers

Center location problems have many applications, for example, in the public sector, and various different algorithms have been developed for their solution. This paper suggests a novel solution strategy to the problem that is based on the propagation of circular wavefronts. The approach is discussed theoretically and implemented both as a physical experiment and as a computer simulation.     

Functional analysis concepts and Fartree-Fock instability conditions

Concepts of functional analysis, namely, regular points, tangent subspaces, constraint surfaces, Lagrangian matrix restricted to the tangent subspace of a constraint surface, are presented in connection with the Hartree-Fock (HF) problem. The energy functional in LCAO approximation is considered to be a polynomial function of several variables subject to subsidiary conditions. General HF equations and instability conditions for the unrestricted Hartree-Fock (UHF) solutions are derived from this standpoint.     

Atoms and ions in superfluid helium

Optical spectra of atomic impurities in liquid helium have been investigated. Comparison is made between the wavelength of the free atomic and ionic lines and those in the liquid helium matrix. Simultaneously, the line width and a possible asymmetry is recorded. Presence and absence of radiative transitions depend on the species of the atom implanted in the quantum fluid. The absence of any optical transitions from states lying as low as 1,8 eV below the ionization limit will be explained in this paper.
