New data on heteroarene thiocyanation by anodic oxidation of NH4SCN. The processes of electroinduced nucleophilic aromatic substitution of hydrogen

Potentiostatic (galvanostatic) electrolysis of NH₄SCN in an undivided cell under mild conditions (25 °C, Pt anode, MeCN) was employed to perform the anodic thiocyanation of nitrogen-containing heterocycles with yields up to 95%. The regularities of the process are discussed, which show that it can be considered as electroinduced nucleophilic aromatic substitution of hydrogen.     

Arbitration procedures with multiple arbitrators

We consider two final-offer arbitration procedures in the case where there is more than one arbitrator. Two players, labeled 1 and 2 and interpreted here as Labor and Management, respectively, are in dispute about an increase in the wage rate. They submit final offers to a Referee. There are N arbitrators. Each of the arbitrators has her own assessment and selects the offer which is closest to her assessment. After that each arbitrator informs the Referee about her decision. The Referee counts the votes and declares the player obtaining the most votes to be the winner. Under the second arbitration scheme, the Referee takes into account only the assessments which lie between the players’ offers. The game is modeled as a zero-sum game. The Nash equilibrium in this arbitration game is derived.     

Thermal,morphological, and mechanical properties of ethyl vanillin immobilized in polyvinyl alcohol by electrospinning process

In this study, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) nanofibers with ethyl vanillin as an active compound were prepared using electrospinning technique. The final products of electrospinning process were in the form of nanofibers films. PVA/ethyl vanillin nanofibers, having fibers diameters in the range 100–1700 nm, were successfully electrospun from ethanol/water mixture of PVA and ethyl vanillin. The effects of immobilization process on ethyl vanillin thermal properties were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The results of DSC showed significant influence of immobilization process on thermal properties of ethyl vanillin. It was noticed that melting point of immobilized ethyl vanillin was lower (~55 °C) compared to free flavor (~77 °C). Our results showed that films based on PVA/ethyl vanillin nanofibers are mechanically stable.     

The preparation and properties of “porous silicon–nickel ferrite” nanoheterocomposites for gas detectors

This paper discusses the preparation and properties of gas detectors based on “porous silicon–nickel ferrite” nanocomposites. Impedance spectroscopy was used to measure sensitivity to ethanol and isopropanol vapours in the presence of an alternating electric field. The results were interpreted with the help of an equivalent electrical circuit. In the analysis of the resistive–capacitive properties in the equivalent circuit a constant phase element was used.     

A Noncatalytic Approach to Hetaryl‐Annulated 1,2,4‐Thiadiazine‐1,1‐dioxides

A set of synthetic procedures was developed to yield functionalized pyrido‐, pyrimido‐, and thiazo‐annulated thiadiazine‐1,1‐dioxides on a preparative scale. In all cases the thiadiazine‐1,1‐dioxide ring closure was carried out through a reaction of hetaryl‐sulfonyl chlorides with amidines under mild noncatalytic conditions. In the case of 2‐chloropyridine‐3‐sulfonyl chloride derivatives and 2,4‐dichlorothiazole‐5‐sulfonyl chloride open‐chain sulfonylated amidine intermediates were isolated and then subjected to the cyclization step. The reaction with 2,4‐dichloropyrimidine‐5‐sulfonyl chloride gave rise to the corresponding thiadiazine‐1,1‐dioxides in one‐pot. Similarly, a reaction of 2‐chloropyridine‐3‐sulfonamide with lactime ethers proceeded in one‐pot readily giving the corresponding thiadiazine‐1,1‐dioxides. Remaining chlorine atoms on the prepared hetaryl‐annulated benzothiadiazine‐1,1‐dioxides readily undergo aromatic nucleophilic displacement reactions serving thus as additional variation points for the design of biologically potent compounds.
