A cost allocation problem in urban solid wastes collection and disposal

In this paper we consider a cost allocation problem arising in a consortium for urban solid wastes collection and disposal. A classical allocation rule is the proportional division according to the volume of wastes collected; here we propose a different allocation method, rooted in game theory, based on a model developed by Fragnelli et al. [3], using the Shapley Value and the Owen Value as allocation rules. The model was applied to the data of the consortium Ovadese – Valle Scrivia, comparing our results and the actual ones.     

Anti-thyroid drug methimazole: X-ray characterization of two novel ionic disulfides obtained from its chemical oxidation by I(2)

Interaction of methimazole (MMI, 1-methyl-imidazole-2-thione) with I2 in solvents having different polarity gives two new stable compounds containing a dication disulfide and a monocation disulfide arranged in dimers, respectively. These two species could represent effective intermediates in the reaction of MMI with an active iodine species in the thyroid gland and therefore shed more light on the mechanism of action of MMI as an antithyroid drug.     

On shortest path games

A class of cooperative TU-games arising from shortest path problems is introduced and analyzed. Some conditions under which a shortest path game is balanced are obtained. Also an axiomatic characterization of the Shapley value for this class of games is provided.     

Integer solutions to bankruptcy problems with non-integer claims

In this paper, we consider a bankruptcy problem with the additional constraint that the estate has to be assigned in integer unities; differently from the approaches by other authors, we allow for non-integer claims. This situation poses new questions on the existence and the uniqueness of the solution. We propose a new solution method that leads to the “box solution”, for which uniqueness may be guaranteed introducing a ranking on the claimants. Some examples complete the paper.     

Electro‐optical Properties of Neutral and Radical Ion Thienosquaraines

Thienosquaraines are an interesting class of electroactive dyes that are useful for applications in organic electronics. Herein, the redox chemistry and electrochromic response of a few newly synthesized thienosquaraines are presented. These properties are compared to those of the commercial 2,4‐bis[4‐(N,N‐diisobutylamino)‐2,6‐dihydroxyphenyl]squaraine. The stability of the radical ions formed in electrochemical processes strongly affects these properties, as shown by cyclic voltammetry, in situ spectroelectrochemistry, and quantum chemical calculations. Furthermore, all of the dyes show aggregation tendency resulting in panchromatic absorption covering the whole UV/Vis spectral range.     

Reproducing subgroups of Sp(2,\mathbb R ). Part II: admissible vectors

In part I we introduced the class $\mathcal{E }_2$ of Lie subgroups of $Sp(2,\mathbb R )$ and obtained a classification up to conjugation ( see Theorem 6 below). Here, we determine for which of these groups the restriction of the metaplectic representation gives rise to a reproducing formula. In all the positive cases we characterize the admissible vectors with a generalized Calderón equation. They include products of 1D-wavelets, directional wavelets, shearlets, and many new examples.
