Spaceborne Laser Rangefinder “LORA” Used as a Cloud Lidar

First, in this report an overview is given on the use of the Russian laser altimeter in space “LORA” as a lidar for cloud measurements. Secondly, the influence of multiple scattering is verified by analysis of the backscatter signals from clouds having the excellent range resolution of a rangefinder.Presented at the 7th International Workshop on Multiple Scattering Lidar/Light Experiments (MUSCLE7), July 21–23 1994, Chiba, Japan.

A Novel Method for the Rapid Determination of Isonicotinic Hydrazide in Aqueous Solutions Using Reflectance Spectrophotometry and Colorimetry

A rapid method is developed for the quantitative determination of 5–35 g/L of isonicotinic hydrazide (INH, isoniazide) in aqueous media. The method is based on the formation of copper(I) oxide in the reaction of isonicotinic hydrazide with copper ions on the surface of indicator tablets and the subsequent recording of the analytical signal by reflectance spectrophotometry and colorimetry. Aluminum oxide is proposed as a solid-phase substrate for the production of indicator tablets. Isonicotinic hydrazide can be determined in the tablet form of the Isoniazid preparation.     

X-ray structural investigation of N-phenyl-N′-methoxydiazene-N-oxide

Conclusions Low temperature x-ray structural analysis of N-phenyl-N-methoxydiazene-N-oxide has revealed that the planar conjugated methoxydiazene oxide fragment exists in a Z-configuration with the phenyl substituent rotated about it by a 26° angle.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 11, pp. 2516–2518, November, 1988.     

Spectral parameter asymptotics of the Weyl solutions of Sturm-Liouville equations

In the paper one investigates the dependence of Weyl's solution ,)=c(,)+n()s(,) of the Sturm-Liouville equation y+q()y=²y on the spectral parameter . Under the condition that the potential q is bounded from below and q()exp(c₀+c[in1 ¦¦), it is proved for {ie217-01} for any positive values and A. If q()>1 and {ie217-02} for all >0, then in the semiplane >0 the Weyl solution (, ) is obtained from the Weyl solution (,x) is obtained from the Weyl solution e^ix with zero potential, with the aid of a generalization of B.
