Redox‐active polymers draw significant attention as active material in secondary batteries during the last decade. A new anthraquinone‐based redox‐active monomer was designed, which electrochemical behavior was tailored by mono‐modification of one keto group. The monomer exhibits two one‐electron redox reactions and has a low molar mass, resulting in a high theoretical capacity of 207 mAh/g. The polymerization of the monomer was optimized by variation of solvent and initiator. Moreover, the electrochemical behavior was studied using cyclic voltammetry and the polymer was used as active material in a composite electrode in lithium organic batteries. The polymer reveals a cell potential of 2.3 V and a promising capacity of 137 mAh/g. During the first 100 cycles, the capacity drops to 85% of the initial value. The influence of the charging speed on the charging/discharging properties of the batteries was further investigated. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Besides the determination of the force and the energy needed to break individual fibre to fibre joints, the investigation of the formerly bonded area (FBA) is of essential importance to learn more about the failure mechanisms of fibre–fibre bonds in general. In this study the surfaces of paper fibres and the FBA of fibre–fibre joints after the determination of the breaking force as well as the bonding energy were analysed by means of low voltage scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. A comparison between the contact zone of fibres broken at different loading rates as well as under cyclic loading showed that there seems to be no significant difference in the appearance of the FBA in these cases. Only minor delamination of the cell wall could be found in the bonding zone, which indicates no mechanical interlocking of fibrils in the bonding zone. Furthermore, it is shown that some glues used for specimen preparation of fibre–fibre bond strength measurement are forming a glue film on the fiber surface and migrate into the bonding region.  相似文献

RNA interference provides enormous potential for the treatment of several diseases, including cancer. Nevertheless, successful therapies based on siRNA require overcoming various challenges, such as poor pharmacokinetic characteristics of the small RNA molecule and inefficient cytosolic accumulation. In this respect, the development of functional siRNA carrier systems is a major task in biomedical research. To provide such a desired system, the synthesis of 3‐arm and 6‐arm PeptoStars is aimed for. The different branched polypept(o)idic architectures share a stealth‐like polysarcosine corona for efficient shielding and a multifunctional polylysine core, which can be independently varied in size and functionality for siRNA complexation‐, transport and intra cellular release. The special feature of star‐like polypept(o)ides is in their uniform small size (<20 nm) and a core–shell structure, which implies a high stability and stealth‐like properties and thus, they may combine long circulation times and a deep penetration of cancerous tissue. Initial toxicity and complement studies demonstrate well tolerated cationic PeptoStars with high complexation capability toward siRNA (N/P ratio up to 3:1), which can lead to potent RNAi for optimized systems. Here, the synthetic development of 3‐arm and 6‐arm polypept(o)idic star polymers, their modification with endosomolytic moieties, and first in vitro insights on RNA interference are reported on.  相似文献

Through a solid‐state reaction, a practically phase pure powder of Ba3V2S4O3 was obtained. The crystal structure was confirmed by X‐ray single‐crystal and synchrotron X‐ray powder diffraction (P63, a=10.1620(2), c=5.93212(1) Å). X‐ray absorption spectroscopy, in conjunction with multiplet calculations, clearly describes the vanadium in charge‐disproportionated VIIIS6 and VVSO3 coordinations. The compound is shown to be a strongly correlated Mott insulator, which contradicts previous predictions. Magnetic and specific heat measurements suggest dominant antiferromagnetic spin interactions concomitant with a weak residual ferromagnetic component, and that intrinsic geometric frustration prevents long‐range order from evolving.  相似文献

Molecular dynamics simulations were used to characterize the binding of the chiral drugs chlorthalidone and lorazepam to the molecular micelle poly-(sodium undecyl-(L)-leucine-valine). The project’s goal was to characterize the nature of chiral recognition in capillary electrophoresis separations that use molecular micelles as the chiral selector. The shapes and charge distributions of the chiral molecules investigated, their orientations within the molecular micelle chiral binding pockets, and the formation of stereoselective intermolecular hydrogen bonds with the molecular micelle were all found to play key roles in determining where and how lorazepam and chlorthalidone enantiomers interacted with the molecular micelle.  相似文献
