This paper provides an overview of recent research developments in the field of nanoelectronics with organic materials such as carbon nanotubes and DNA-templated nanowires. Carbon nanotubes and gold electrodes are chemically functionalized in order to contact carbon nanotubes by self-assembly. The transport properties of these nanotubes are dominated by charging effects and display clear Coulomb blockade behaviour. A different approach towards nanoscale electronics is based on the molecular recognition properties of biomolecules such as DNA. As an example, DNA is stretched between electrodes using a molecular combing technique. A two-step metallization procedure leads to the formation of highly conductive gold nanowires.  相似文献

The problem of system identification from a time series of measurements is solved by using non-parametric additive models. Having only few structural information about the system, a non-parametric approach may be more appropriate than a parametric one for which detailed prior knowledge is needed. Based on non-parametric regression, the functions in the additive models are estimated by a penalized least-squares approach using backfitting. The optimal smoothing parameters are determined via generalized cross-validation, making this approach completely adaptive to the data. The procedure is applied to identify the non-linear restoring force of vibrationally excited helical wire rope isolators.  相似文献

The Eliashberg spectral density function is constructed for the superconducting compound BaxK1−xBiO3 with x=0.5, 0.6, 0.7. The functions, besides yielding some prominent structures, show widely spreading spectra that inhibit lattice instability by yielding not too large values of λ(<1.32). The resulting spectral functions show similar shape as other results, where available, and also successfully reproduce the observed critical temperature, isotope exponent, gap ratio and several other parameters.  相似文献

Generally, the quality of a weld joint is directly influenced by the welding input parameter settings. Selection of proper process parameters is important to obtain the desired weld bead profile and quality. In this research work, numerical and graphical optimization techniques of the CO2 laser beam welding of dual phase (DP600)/transformation induced plasticity (TRIP700) steel sheets were carried out using response surface methodology (RSM) based on Box–Behnken design. The procedure was established to improve the weld quality, increase the productivity and minimize the total operation cost by considering the welding parameters range of laser power (2–2.2 kW), welding speed (40–50 mm/s) and focus position (?1 to 0 mm). It was found that, RSM can be considered as a powerful tool in experimental welding optimization, even when the experimenter does not have a model for the process. Strong, efficient and low cost weld joints could be achieved using the optimum welding conditions.  相似文献

Propagation of impulsive sound around buildings and induced structural loading are investigated experimentally and numerically. Experiments were conducted on a rectangular building at Virginia Tech using sonic booms generated by shaped charges with an explosive weight of 0.78 kg, constructed from detonation cord. These experiments were simulated with a three-dimensional numerical model, in the context of geometrical acoustics (GA), by combining the image source method for the reflected field (specular reflections) with an extension of the Biot–Tolstoy–Medwin (BTM) method for the diffracted field. In this model, it is assumed that the acoustic propagation is linear and that all surfaces are acoustically rigid. This numerical model is validated against a boundary element (BE) solution and experimental data, showing a good overall agreement. The key advantages of this GA modeling approach for this application include the ability to model large three-dimensional domains over a wide frequency range and also to decompose the sound field into direct, reflected, and diffracted components, thus providing a better understanding of the sound-propagation mechanisms. Finally, this validated numerical model is used to investigate sound propagation around a cluster of six rectangular buildings, for a range of elevated source positions simulating sonic booms from aircraft.  相似文献

A systematic study of the high-order harmonic generation (HHG) of laser radiation in various carbon-containing plasma plumes (CCPPs) is presented. The materials studied are: graphite, boron carbide, C60, polytetrafluoroethylene, polyethylene, carbon nanotubes, and soot. These studies show that CCPPs present the best plasma media for efficient lower order (from 9th to 19th) harmonic generation, while the harmonic cutoff restricted to the 29th order. The advantages of CCPPs for the harmonic generation are confirmed by comparison of the HHG conversion efficiency with that in Ag and In plasma plumes, where the highest conversion efficiency was reported. Use of two-color pump scheme allows further enhancement of harmonic yield from the CCPPs.  相似文献
