Selectively (2)H- and (13)C-labeled spermines (SPM) were efficiently synthesized and analyzed by NMR spectroscopy to determine the spin-spin coupling constants for six conformationally relevant bonds. SPM that is composed of three alkyl moieties, a butanylene, and two propanylene chains undergoes a conformational change when interacting with multivalent anions (e.g., adenosine triphosphate (ATP), ATP-Mg(2+) , and tripolyphosphate). Upon interaction with ATP, the C-C bonds, which affect the distance between the neighboring pairs of ammonium groups (i.e., N1/N5 and N5/N5'), increase the population of gauche rotamers by 17-20% relative to those in the 4 HCl salt of SPM. However, the trend in increments of the gauche conformers for the SPM-ATP complex profoundly differs from that of the spermidine (SPD)-ATP complex. This implies that SPM may preferentially recognize the adenyl group of ATP rather than the tripolyphosphate moiety. This may account for the higher affinity of SPM to ATP-Mg(2+) than with that of SPD, which chiefly interacts with β- and γ-phosphates and is easily replaced by Mg(2+) . These results may provide a clue for the further understanding of the structural basis of polyamine biological functions. 相似文献

Donor–radical acceptor systems have recently attracted much attention as efficient doublet emitters that offer significant advantages for applications such as OLEDs. We employed an alkylbenzene (mesityl group) as the simplest donor to date and added it to a diphenylpyridylmethyl radical acceptor. The (3,5-difluoro-4-pyridyl)bis[2,6-dichloro-4-(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)phenyl]methyl radical (Mes2F2PyBTM) was prepared in only three steps from commercially available reagents. A stable radical composed of only one pyridine ring, four benzene rings, methyl groups, halogens, and hydrogens showed fluorescence of over 60% photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) in chloroform, dichloromethane, and PMMA. The key to high fluorescence efficiency was benzene rings perpendicular to the diphenylpyridylmethyl radical in the doublet ground (D0) state. The relatively low energy of the β-HOMO and the electron-accepting character of the radical enabled the use of benzenes as electron donors. Furthermore, the structural relaxation of the doublet lowest excited (D1) state was minimized by steric hindrance of the methyl groups. The reasons for this high efficiency include the relatively fast fluorescence transition and the slow internal conversion, both of which were explained by the overlap density between the D1 and D0 states.By adding mesityl donors to a diphenylpyridyl radical acceptor, a highly luminescent stable radical was prepared in three steps from commercially available reagents. Mono-alkene-inserted [n]cycloparaphenylenes 1 [(ene)-[n]CPP] with n=6, 8, and 10, mono-ortho-phenylene-inserted [6]CPP 2 , and di-alkene-insertved [n]CPP 3 [(ene)2-[n]CPP] with n=4, 6, and 8 were synthesized by fusing CPP precursors and alkene or ortho- phenylene groups through coupling reactions. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses reveal that the strips formed by the π-surfaces of 1 and 2 exhibited a Möbius topology in the solid state. While the Möbius topology in the parent 1 and 2 in solution was lost due to the free rotation of the paraphenylene unit even at low temperatures, ene-[6]CPP 4 with eight 1-pyrrolyl groups preserved the Möbius topology even in solution. Despite a twist, 1 has in-plane conjugation and possesses a unique size dependence of the electronic properties: namely, the opposite size dependency of the HOMO–LUMO energy relative to conventional π-conjugated molecules. 相似文献

Summary: The photo‐crosslinking of carbazole dendrimers was analyzed by UV and IR spectroscopic methods. Photoirradiation results in the formation of a film that is insoluble in toluene and benzene. Time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry studies revealed that the photoirradiation lead to an oligomerization of the dendrimer through crosslinking. The resulting insoluble dendrimer film could be applied as a hole‐transport layer in efficient polymer electroluminescence devices (PLEDs).

The peptide-containing block copolymer poly(N-acetyliminoethylene)-block-poly(L -phenylalanine) (1) formed large water-soluble aggregates in water due to the hydrophobic and hydrogen-bonding character of the poly(L -phenylalanine) block. The solution properties of 1 were compared with those of the block copolymer poly(N-acetyliminoethylene)-block-poly(N-benzoyliminoethylene) (2) with an analogous structure. 1 formed aggregates even though the poly(phenylalanine) segment was short as compared with 2 in which hydrophobic interaction may be the only driving force to form aggregates. The aggregates have strong capability of incorporating Lipase P and largely increase the hydrolysis activity against p-nitrophenyl propionate as compared with that of free Lipase P. 相似文献

Various types of molecular assembly of long-chain compounds in solid states were investigated by means of infrared absorption, Raman and Brillouin spectroscopic methods. As for the polymorphism in even-numbered n-fatty acids, three monoclinic modifications, B, C, and E, all consisting of the orthorhombic polyethylene sublattice, give rise to their characteristic infrared and Raman spectra. A dynamical equilibrium between cis and trans conformations of the hydrogen-bonded carboxyl groups in modification C, which is related to the high-temperature stable character of this phase, is reflected to a dramatic change with temperature in the low-frequency Raman spectra. A new type of reversible solid state phase transition was found between two A-type (triclinic) modifications of myristic, palmitic, and stearic acids. The γ→α phase transition of oleic acid was found to be caused by a conformational disordering of polymethylene chains at the lamellar interfacial region. Two basic polytype structures, Mon and Orth II, of stearic acid B were investigated, and it was found that the low-frequency phonon frequencies (below 50 cm−1) were strongly influenced by the polytype structure. Based on the spectroscopic considerations, Orth II was predicted as the thermodynamically stable phase around room temperature compared with Mon, and the stability is responsible for the vibrational free energy term. Some experimental findings which support this prediction were obtained. The values of the stiffness tensor elements of Mon and Orth II, measured by Brillouin scattering, indicate that the mechanical behavior of bulk crystals is very dependent on the polytype structure. The relationship between the mobility of chain molecules and the width of the spectral bands was investigated in a quantitative manner for the case of n-alkane molecules entrapped in the urea inclusion adducts. The changes in the half-width for the polarization components of various Raman bands on the transition from the orthorhombic to the hexagonal phase are interpreted in terms of the correlation functions of the Raman tensor related to the rotational motion of the alkane molecules around the chain axes. 相似文献
