Diffraction radiation from an inhomogeneous dielectric film on the surface of a perfect conductor

Diffraction radiation generated by a charged particle moving uniformly parallel to the surface of a perfect conductor coated with a dielectric film is considered; the thickness of the film is an arbitrary function of coordinates. A particular case is considered when this function is periodic in one coordinate. The dependence of radiation on the profile of an individual irregularity of the periodic film is analyzed in detail for an arbitrary energy of the particle.     

Study of the kinetics of the oxidation of complexones by vanadium (V)

Conclusions The kinetics of the oxidation of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid and diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid by vanadium(V) was studied; the reaction is first order with respect to V(V) and the complexone. Synthesis and stereochemistry of 3-hydroxy-6-perfluoroalkyl-2, 3-dihydro-4-pyrones

The reaction of a number of aliphatic and alicyclic acetloxiranes with perfluoroalkanoic acid esters was studied. It is shown that substituted 3-hydroxy-6-perfluoroalkyl-2,3-dihydro-4-pyrones are formed. The reverse reaction scheme, including the formation of an intermediate -diketone and cyclization of its enol form to a dihydropyrone, was confirmed in the case of the condensation of 3-methyl-2,3-epoxycyclohexanone with ethyl trifluoroacetate. The stereochemistry of the reaction products, which exist in a half-chair confirmation with a pseudoequatorial hydroxyl group, was examined by means of PMR spectroscopy.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 7, pp. 897–900, July, 1978.     

Reaction of 2-acyloxiranes with cyclic ketones

Acyloxiranes react with cyclopentanone and cyclohexanone in the presence of catalytic amounts of boron trifluoride etherate to give the corresponding 2-acyl-1,4-dioxaspiro[4,4]-nonanes and 2-acyl-1,4-dioxaspiro[4,5]decanes. Motion of a Force Source over an Elastic Surface

The motion of a variable point force P(t) over the free surface of an elastic half-space is investigated with a view toward studying wave processes in an elastic medium. Special attention is given to the determination of surface wavefronts, because the detection of the latter from seismogram data can be utilized to locate the position of a source in space and time. This type of planar problem has been investigated previously, for example, in [1], but the analytical solutions of the problem of a stationary source moving with a constant velocity have been obtained only in the limit t without regard for the transient process of wave propagation.     

Reaction of Dextran Polyaldehyde with Aminohydroxypyrimidines

Reaction of dextran polyaldehyde with aminohydroxypyrimidines is proposed as a procedure for modifying polysaccharides with low-molecular-weight compounds. The influence exerted by the reaction temperature and time and by solution pH on the number of incorporated heterocyclic fragments was examined.
