This paper describes mechanistic studies on the functionalization of arenes with the diboron reagent B(2)pin(2) (bis-pinacolato diborane(4)) catalyzed by the combination of 4,4'-di-tert-butylbipyridine (dtbpy) and olefin-ligated iridium halide or olefin-ligated iridium alkoxide complexes. This work identifies the catalyst resting state as [Ir(dtbpy)(COE)(Bpin)(3)] (COE = cyclooctene, Bpin = 4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolanyl). [Ir(dtbpy)(COE)(Bpin)(3)] was prepared by independent synthesis in high yield from [Ir(COD)(OMe)](2), dtbpy, COE, and HBpin. This complex is formed in low yield from [Ir(COD)(OMe)](2), dtbpy, COE, and B(2)pin(2). Kinetic studies show that this complex reacts with arenes after reversible dissociation of COE. An alternative mechanism in which the arene reacts with the Ir(I) complex [Ir(dtbpy)Bpin] after dissociation of COE and reductive elimination of B(2)pin(2) does not occur to a measurable extent. The reaction of [Ir(dtbpy)(COE)(Bpin)(3)] with arenes and the catalytic reaction of B(2)pin(2) with arenes catalyzed by [Ir(COD)(OMe)](2) and dtbpy occur faster with electron-poor arenes than with electron-rich arenes. However, both the stoichiometric and catalytic reactions also occur faster with the electron-rich heteroarenes thiophene and furan than with arenes, perhaps because eta(2)-heteroarene complexes are more stable than the eta(2)-arene complexes and the eta(2)-heteroarene or arene complexes are intermediates that precede oxidative addition. Kinetic studies on the catalytic reaction show that [Ir(dtbpy)(COE)(Bpin)(3)] enters the catalytic cycle by dissociation of COE, and a comparison of the kinetic isotope effects of the catalytic and stoichiometric reactions shows that the reactive intermediate [Ir(dtbpy)(Bpin)(3)] cleaves the arene C-H bond. The barriers for ligand exchange and C-H activation allow an experimental assessment of several conclusions drawn from computational work. Most generally, our results corroborate the conclusion that C-H bond cleavage is turnover-limiting, but the experimental barrier for this bond cleavage is much lower than the calculated barrier.  相似文献

The infrared and ultraviolet spectroscopy of o-, m-, and p-ethynylstyrene isomers (oES, mES, and pES) were studied by a combination of methods, including resonance-enhanced two-photon ionization (R2PI), UV-UV hole-burning spectroscopy (UVHB), resonant ion-dip infrared spectroscopy (RIDIRS), and rotationally resolved fluorescence excitation spectroscopy. In addition, the newly developed method of stimulated emission pumping-population transfer spectroscopy (SEP-PTS) was used to determine the energy threshold to conformational isomerization in m-ethynylstyrene. The S(1) <-- S(0) origin transitions of oES and pES occur at 32 369 and 33 407 cm(-1), respectively. In mES, the cis and trans conformations are calculated to be close in energy. In the R2PI spectrum of mES, the two most prominent peaks (32672 and 32926 cm(-1)) were confirmed by UVHB spectroscopy to be S(1) <-- S(0) origins of these two conformers. The red-shifted conformer was identified as the cis structure by least-squares fitting of the rotationally resolved fluorescence excitation spectrum of the origin band. There are also two possible conformations in oES, but transitions due to only one were observed experimentally, as confirmed by UVHB spectroscopy. Density functional theory calculations (B3LYP/6-31+G) predict that the cis-ortho conformer, in which the substituents point toward each other, is about 8 kJ/mol higher in energy than the trans-ortho isomer, and should only be about 5% of the room temperature population of oES. Ground-state infrared spectra in the C-H stretch region (3000-3300 cm(-1)) of each isomer were obtained with RIDIRS. In all three structural isomers, the acetylenic C-H stretch fundamental was split by Fermi resonance. Infrared spectra were also recorded in the excited electronic state, using a UV-IR-UV version of RIDIR spectroscopy. In all three isomers the acetylenic C-H stretch fundamental was unshifted from the ground state, but no Fermi resonance was seen. The first observed and last unobserved transitions in the SEP-PT spectrum were used to place lower and upper bounds on the barrier to cis --> trans isomerization in m-ethynylstyrene of 990-1070 cm(-1). Arguments are given for the lack of a kinetic shift in the measurement. The analogous trans --> cis barrier is in the same range (989-1065 cm(-1)), indicating that the relative energies of the zero-point levels of the two isomers are (E(ZPL)(cis) - E(ZPL)(trans))= -75 to +81 cm(-1). Both the barrier heights and relative energies of the minima are close to those determined by DFT (Becke3LYP/6-31+G) calculations.  相似文献

The heavier alkali-metal monosulfides (KS, RbS, CsS, and FrS) have been studied by high-level ab initio calculations. The RCCSD(T) method has been employed, combined with large flexible valence basis sets. All-electron basis sets are used for potassium and sulfur, with effective core potentials being used for the other metals, describing the core electrons. Potential-energy curves are calculated for the lowest two neutral and cationic states: all neutral monosulfide species have a (2)Pi ground state, in contrast with the alkali-metal monoxide species, which undergo a change in the electronic ground state from (2)Pi to (2)Sigma(+) as the group is descended. In the cases of KS, RbS, and CsS, spin-orbit curves are also calculated. We also calculate potential-energy curves for the lowest (3)Sigma(-) and (3)Pi states of the cations. From the potential-energy curves, spectroscopic constants are derived, and for KS the spectroscopic results are compared to experimental spectroscopic values. Ionization energies, dissociation energies, and heats of formation are also calculated; for KS, we explore the effects of relativity and basis set extrapolation on these values.  相似文献

Rotationally resolved IR spectra of M+ (H2O)Ar cluster ions for M=Na, K, and Cs in the O-H stretch region were measured in a triple-quadrupole mass spectrometer. Analysis of the spectra yields O-H stretch vibrational band origins and relative IR intensities of the symmetric and asymmetric modes. The effect of the alkali-metal ions on these modes results in frequency shifts and intensity changes from the gas phase values of water. The A-rotational constants are also obtained from the rotational structure and are discussed. Experimentally, the temperatures of these species were deduced from the relative populations of the K-rotational states. The internal energies and temperatures of the cluster ions for Na and K were simulated using RRKM calculations and the evaporative ensemble formalism. With binding energies and vibrational frequencies obtained from ab initio calculations, the average predicted temperatures are qualitatively consistent with the experimental values and demonstrate the additional cooling resulting from argon evaporation.  相似文献

Hydrated alkali metal ion-phenol complexes were studied to model these species in aqueous solution for M=Na and K. IR predissociation spectroscopy in the O-H stretch region was used to analyze the structures of M+(Phenol)(H2O)n cluster ions, for n = 1-4. The onset of hydrogen bonding was observed to occur at n=4. Ab initio calculations were used to qualitatively explore the types of hydrogen-bonded structures of the M+(Phenol)(H2O)4 isomers. By combining the ab initio calculations and IR spectra, several different structures were identified for each metal ion. In contrast to benzene, detailed in a previous study of Na+(Benzene)n(H2O)m [J. Chem. Phys. 110, 8429 (1999)], phenol is able to bind directly to Na+ even in the presence of four waters. This is likely the result of the sigma-type interaction between the phenol oxygen and the ion. With K+, the dominant isomers are those in which the phenol O-H group is involved in a hydrogen bond with the water molecules, while with Na+, the dominant isomers are those in which the phenol O-H group is free and the water molecules are hydrogen-bonded to each other. Spectra and ab initio calculations for the M+(Phenol)Ar cluster ions for M=Na and K are reported to characterize the free phenol O-H stretch in the M+(Phenol) complex. While pi-type configurations were observed for binary M+(Phenol) complexes, sigma-type configurations appear to dominate the hydrated cluster ions.  相似文献

The tridentate dithiocarbazate-based Schiff base ligands H(2)L (S-methyl-3-((5-R-2-hydroxyphenyl)methyl)dithiocarbazate, R = NO(2), L = L(2); R = Br, L = L(3)) react with [VO(acac)(2)] in the presence of imidazole derivatives as coligands to form oxovanadium(IV) and cis-dioxovanadium(V) complexes. With benzimidazole and N-methylimidazole, the products are oxovanadium(IV) complexes, viz. [VOL(3)(BzIm)].0.5CH(3)CN (1a) and [VOL(N-MeIm)(2)] (L = L(3), 1b; L = L(2), 1c), respectively. In both 1a,b, the O and S donor atoms of the tridentate ligand are cis to the terminal oxo group (in the "equatorial" plane) and mutually trans, but the N donor atom is respectively cis and trans to the oxo atom, as revealed from X-ray crystallography. When imidazole or 4-methylimidazole is used as the ancillary ligand, the products obtained are water-soluble cis-dioxovanadium(V) complexes [VO(2)L(R'-ImH)] (L = L(3) and L(2), R' = H and Me, 2a-d). These compounds have zigzag chain structures in the solid state as confirmed by X-ray crystallographic investigations of 2a,d, involving an alternating array of LVO(2)(-) species and the imidazolium counterions held together by Coulombic interactions and strong hydrogen bonding. Complexes 2a-d are stable in water or methanol. In aprotic solvents, viz. CH(3)CN, DMF, or DMSO, however, they undergo photochemical transformation when exposed to visible light. The putative product is a mixed-oxidation divanadium(IV/V) species obtained by photoinduced reduction as established by EPR, electronic spectroscopy, and dynamic (1)H NMR experiments.  相似文献

[reaction: see text] The partial reduction of electron-deficient 2,5-disubstituted pyrroles has been developed into a flexible procedure that gives control of relative stereochemistry by variation of the reduction conditions. After the reaction, the pyrroline products were dihydroxylated at C-3,4 to give either the cis or trans isomers; this flexibility means that a variety of polyhydroxylated pyrrolidines can be prepared in a short sequence. Finally, this method was applied to a synthesis of the naturally occurring glycosidase inhibitor DMDP.  相似文献

Characterization of the tissue light penetration in prostate photodynamic therapy (PDT) is important to plan the arrangement and weighting of light sources so that sufficient light fluence is delivered to the treatment volume. The optical properties (absorption [mu(a)], transport scattering [mu(s)'] and effective attenuation [mu(eff)] coefficients) of 13 patients with locally recurrent prostate cancer were measured in situ using interstitial isotropic detectors. Measurements were made at 732 nm before and after motexafin lutetium (MLu)-mediated PDT in four quadrants. Optical properties were derived by applying the diffusion theory to the fluence rates measured at several distances (0.5-5 cm) from a point source. mu(a) and mu(s)' varied between 0.07 and 1.62 cm(-1) (mean 0.37 +/- 0.24 cm(-1)) and 1.1 and 44 cm(-1) (mean 14 +/- 11 cm(-1)), respectively. mu(a) was proportional to the concentration of MLu measured by an ex vivo fluorescence assay. We have observed, on average, a reduction of the MLu concentration after PDT, presumably due to the PDT consumption of MLu. mu(eff) varied between 0.91 and 6.7 cm(-1) (mean 2.9 +/- 0.7 cm(-1)), corresponding to an optical penetration depth (delta = 1/micro(eff)) of 0.1-1.1 cm (mean 0.4 +/- 0.1 cm). The mean penetration depth at 732 nm in human prostate is at least two times smaller than that found in normal canine prostates, which can be explained by a four times increase of the mean value of mu(s)' in human prostates. The mean light fluence rate per unit source strength at 0.5 cm from a point source was 1.5 +/- 1.1 cm(-2), excluding situations when bleeding occurs. The total number of measurements was N = 121 for all mean quantities listed above. This study showed significant inter- and intraprostatic differences in the optical properties, suggesting that a real-time dosimetry measurement and feedback system for monitoring light fluences during treatment should be considered for future PDT studies.  相似文献

The structures of three compounds with potential antimalarial activity are reported. In N,N‐diethyl‐N′‐(7‐iodoquinolin‐4‐yl)ethane‐1,2‐diamine, C15H20IN3, (I), the molecules are linked into ribbons by N—H⋯N and C—H⋯N hydrogen bonds. In N‐(7‐bromoquinolin‐4‐yl)‐N′,N′‐diethylethane‐1,2‐diamine dihydrate, C15H20BrN3·2H2O, (II), two aminoquinoline molecules and four water molecules form an R54(13) hydrogen‐bonded ring which links to its neighbours to form a T5(2) one‐dimensional infinite tape with pendant hydrogen bonds to the aminoquinolines. The phosphate salt 7‐chloro‐4‐[2‐(diethylammonio)ethylamino]quinolinium bis(dihydrogenphosphate) phosphoric acid, C15H22ClN32+·2H2PO4·H3PO4, (III), was prepared in order to establish the protonation sites of these compounds. The phosphate ions form a two‐dimensional hydrogen‐bonded sheet, while the aminoquinoline cations are linked to the phosphates by N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds from each of their three N atoms. While the conformation of the quinoline region hardly varies between (I), (II) and (III), the amino side chain is much more flexible and adopts a significantly different conformation in each case. Aromatic π–π stacking interactions are the only supramolecular interactions seen in all three structures.  相似文献

Pulse radiolysis techniques were used to measure the gas phase UV absorption spectra of the title peroxy radicals over the range 215–340 nm. By scaling to σ(CH3O2)240 nm = (4.24 ± 0.27) × 10?18, the following absorption cross sections were determined: σ(HO2)240 nm = 1.29 ± 0.16, σ(C2H5O2)240 nm = 4.71 ± 0.45, σ(CH3C(O)CH2O2)240 nm = 2.03 ± 0.22, σ(CH3C(O)CH2O2)230 nm = 2.94 ± 0.29, and σ(CH3C(O)CH2O2)310 nm = 1.31 ± 0.15 (base e, units of 10?18 cm2 molecule?1). To support the UV measurements, FTIR‐smog chamber techniques were employed to investigate the reaction of F and Cl atoms with acetone. The F atom reaction proceeds via two channels: the major channel (92% ± 3%) gives CH3C(O)CH2 radicals and HF, while the minor channel (8% ± 1%) gives CH3 radicals and CH3C(O)F. The majority (>97%) of the Cl atom reaction proceeds via H atom abstraction to give CH3C(O)CH2 radicals. The results are discussed with respect to the literature data concerning the UV absorption spectra of CH3C(O)CH2O2 and other peroxy radicals. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
